IG Punjab commends police force for excellent performance
LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has commended the police force for their excellent performance during the border tensions. IG Punjab said that the performance of all police formations including CTD, Special Branch, SPU, and Elite remained outstanding.
Full support was provided to the Pakistan Army, security, and relevant institutions during the war-like situation. Punjab Police remained on high alert and stood shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Army, while affected locations were immediately cordoned off.
Police personnel took active part in rescue, relief, and aid activities. Under the War Book SOPs, complete coordination was maintained with Civil Defence, Rescue, District Administration, and relevant institutions.
Strict vigilance was maintained on the possible cowardly intentions of terrorists, miscreants, and anti-state elements. Through operational and strategic planning and preventive measures, the protection of internal borders of the country was ensured.
Security and law & order situation remained improved across the province including Lahore, and no untoward incident occurred. To deal with the emergency situation, preventive measures, mock exercises, search and combing operations, and flag marches were conducted.
Dr Usman Anwar further said that security has been enhanced at foreign embassies, sensitive installations, and development projects. Punjab Police is alert and will foil all attempts by the battlefield-defeated enemy to sabotage peace. In the tense situation, the entire police force deserves congratulations for holding terrorists, anti-state, and criminal elements accountable.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police's mission to secure the internal borders of the country is ongoing, under which intelligence-based search; sweep and combing operations are being carried out.
The spokesperson of Punjab Police, while sharing the details, shared that Punjab Police conducted 412 search, sweep and combing operations across the province including Lahore during the last 24 hours. 14,219 suspicious individuals were checked and interrogated, while 52 suspicious persons were taken into custody.
212 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, 37 court absconders and 45 habitual criminals were arrested. A large quantity of illegal weapons and bullets were also recovered from the possession of criminals and suspicious individuals.
During operations against criminal elements, one criminal was neutralized and five were arrested in injured condition. IG Punjab said that in order to hold terrorists and anti-state elements accountable, search, sweep and combing operations must continue.

PM Shehbaz vows to resolve all issues concerning KP
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday assured to address all issues concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Addressing a Jirga in Peshawar, he announced to form a committee to look into all the demands and issues raised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, according to a statement from Prime Minister's office. The Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, along with Federal Ministers of Defence, Interior, Information and Federal Minister for Kashmir & GB Affairs, visited Peshawar today. Commending the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, Police, and other Law Enforcement Agencies for their exemplary service and sacrifices, the Prime Minister affirmed, 'Peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shall be preserved at all costs. The Pakistan Army, in unison with all security institutions and the valiant people of the province, stands firmly united against the Fitna-ul-Khawarij and its foreign abettors.' Reiterating Pakistan's commitment to regional harmony, the Prime Minister stressed the imperative of enhanced bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan, and urged that Afghan soil must not be allowed to be used by Indian proxies to perpetrate terrorism against Pakistan. While interacting with tribal elders during a Grand Jirga at the Zehri Auditorium in Quetta, the chief of the army staff lauded the bravery and resilience of security forces and the law-enforcement personnel operating in Balochistan, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir jointly addressed the Jirga, which was organised to interact with the tribal leadership and discuss the evolving security situation in Balochistan, with particular focus on the ongoing proxy war fuelled by India. "This Indian sponsored proxy war is no longer hidden, it is an open malicious act of terrorism waged on our people, our progress, and our peace. We have concrete proof of India's hand behind terrorist networks operating in Balochistan," Field Marshal Munir said. "These nefarious attempts of the enemy will fail. The Pakistan Army, with the unwavering support of the nation and the brave Baloch people, will confront and crush every enemy, foreign or domestic, that dares to challenge our sovereignty." On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz highlighted that Indian-sponsored proxies operating in Balochistan had intensified their efforts to undermine peace, destabilise the province, and disrupt development initiatives led by the government and the armed forces. He said that terrorist groups like the Fitna al-Hindustan sought support of the locals which must be denied to them. He stressed the need for engaging at the grassroots level and ensuring that terrorists found no social space. Praising the leadership and constructive role of the elders, Shehbaz reiterated that denying social space to terrorists was crucial for the success of counter-terrorism efforts and for the long-term peace and stability. He vowed that the enemies of peace would find no space to operate within Pakistan. "Our message to them is clear: the government, armed forces, the LEAs and the administrative apparatus," with the complete support of the people, would take the fight against terrorism to its logical conclusion and defeat terrorism in a decisive manner. Highlighting a series of monumental developmental packages for prosperity in Balochistan, the prime minister emphasised the need to ensure that people at the grassroots level benefited from the government's initiatives. He praised the people of Balochistan for their historic role in safeguarding the national unity and urged them to remain vigilant against foreign-backed subversion and sabotage orchestrated and sponsored by India. Prime Minister Shehbaz and Field Marshal Munir lauded the bravery and resilience of security forces and the LEAs operating in Balochistan. Shehbaz assured the families of Shuhada of full cooperation and support, and vowed that terrorists, their abettors, and facilitators would not be spared. The Jirga concluded with a unanimous pledge from tribal elders to stand shoulder to shoulder with the government of Pakistan and the armed forces, reaffirming their commitment to the security, stability, and development of Balochistan, the statement said. Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz visited the Command and Staff College in Quetta and addressed Students and Faculty of the college. Gen Mirza warns of nuclear confrontation risk
SINGAPORE: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has said that there exists the danger of a nuclear confrontation between India and Pakistan. Speaking at the 22nd Shangrila Dialogue, 2025, in Singapore, held in the backdrop of Pak-India tensions, he said that no mechanis could work as long as there is distrust between the two countries. 'Pakistan desires lasting peace with India and at the same time wants to protect its honour and prestige,' Mirza has said, adding, 'Talks between the two countries are now inevitable if we are to ensure the security of South Asia.' Pakistan, India close to completing border troop reduction, senior Pakistani general says He has opined that preventing tensions in the region is better than allowing these bitter relations to develop into a crisis and then dealing with that crisis. 'The resolution of the Kashmir dispute in the light of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions will prove to be a basis for peace in the region, which is on the brink of crisis,' he has said, adding that the dispute is a reason for tense relations between Pakistan and India. He has further said that India's plan to block the flow of rivers to Pakistan is a blatant violation of international law. 'As per the national security committee, any such attempt by India will be deemed to be an act of war.' The CJCSC chairman has lashed out at India for targeting innocent civilians and mosques during the recent war with Pakistan. The corps commanders and other senior-most Pakistan Army officials have held sittings with the students and teachers of different educational institutions of the country. During their interactions, they brought home the fact that no nation could progress without education. They also briefed them on the contributions being made by the Pakistan Army to different development projects in the country.
