Over 3,000 held for kite flying this year
A Punjab Police spokesperson has said that so far this year, 3,375 accused have been arrested across the province for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, and 3,301 cases have been registered. A total of 446,506 kites and 15,888 spools of string were recovered, and challans for 3,060 cases were submitted. In the provincial capital Lahore, 1,010 accused were arrested, 991 cases registered, 24,824 kites and 1,168 spools of string were recovered. Last year, 12,525 accused were arrested across Lahore and the province, and 11,866 cases were registered. IG Punjab directed that strict implementation of the Kite Flying Prohibition Amendment Bill must be ensured. RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs should accelerate the crackdown against kite flyers, sellers, and manufacturers. This deadly activity cannot be allowed under any circumstances, and a zero-tolerance policy must be adopted against those involved in this dangerous business. Those engaged in the online sales of metallic string and kites must also be brought under the law, he said.

IG Punjab commends police force for excellent performance
LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has commended the police force for their excellent performance during the border tensions. IG Punjab said that the performance of all police formations including CTD, Special Branch, SPU, and Elite remained outstanding. Full support was provided to the Pakistan Army, security, and relevant institutions during the war-like situation. Punjab Police remained on high alert and stood shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Army, while affected locations were immediately cordoned off. Police personnel took active part in rescue, relief, and aid activities. Under the War Book SOPs, complete coordination was maintained with Civil Defence, Rescue, District Administration, and relevant institutions. Strict vigilance was maintained on the possible cowardly intentions of terrorists, miscreants, and anti-state elements. Through operational and strategic planning and preventive measures, the protection of internal borders of the country was ensured. Security and law & order situation remained improved across the province including Lahore, and no untoward incident occurred. To deal with the emergency situation, preventive measures, mock exercises, search and combing operations, and flag marches were conducted. Dr Usman Anwar further said that security has been enhanced at foreign embassies, sensitive installations, and development projects. Punjab Police is alert and will foil all attempts by the battlefield-defeated enemy to sabotage peace. In the tense situation, the entire police force deserves congratulations for holding terrorists, anti-state, and criminal elements accountable. Meanwhile, Punjab Police's mission to secure the internal borders of the country is ongoing, under which intelligence-based search; sweep and combing operations are being carried out. The spokesperson of Punjab Police, while sharing the details, shared that Punjab Police conducted 412 search, sweep and combing operations across the province including Lahore during the last 24 hours. 14,219 suspicious individuals were checked and interrogated, while 52 suspicious persons were taken into custody. 212 proclaimed offenders involved in serious crimes, 37 court absconders and 45 habitual criminals were arrested. A large quantity of illegal weapons and bullets were also recovered from the possession of criminals and suspicious individuals. During operations against criminal elements, one criminal was neutralized and five were arrested in injured condition. Christian worship, prayer services held: Punjab Police remain high alert
LAHORE: Punjab Police remained on high alert while performing duties during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across Lahore and the province. Earlier, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued orders to RPOs and DPOs to enhance the security arrangements of churches. IG Punjab said that supervisory officers should personally inspect the security arrangements of churches and important locations. Additional police personnel and snipers should be deployed at sensitive churches. Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite teams should ensure effective patrolling around churches. On-duty police officers and personnel must remain highly alert and keep a close watch on miscreants. Search and sweep operations should continue around churches, Christian localities, and sensitive places. IG Punjab releases additional Rs2.618m
LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar is committed to the health welfare of his force and their families. In continuation of this commitment, an additional amount of Rs. 2.618 million has been released for the medical treatment of police personnel and their families. Punjab Police spokesperson, while sharing details, said that Rs. 1 million in funds were released for the treatment of the brain tumour of the widow of late Constable Khalid Mehmood. Inspector Muhammad Khalid Imran was given Rs. 225,000 for his wife's cancer treatment. Similarly, Rs. 200,000 each were released for the treatment of Inspector Mehmood Butt, Sub-Inspector Ajmal Khan, and Driver Constable Jafar Ali. Retired ASI Muhammad Safdar, Constables Muhammad Naveed and Ghazanfar Mehmood were each given Rs 100,000 for their treatment. Constable Waqas Liaqat, Intelligence Operator Muhammad Mohsin, and Washerman Asghar Ali were given a total of Rs. 200,000 for medical treatment. Assistant Tariq Mehmood, Lady Constable Shaheen Afzal, and driver constable Muhammad Asad were issued a total of Rs 293,000 for their treatment. IG Punjab approved the release of the funds after scrutiny by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee. Operation launched in katcha area
Punjab Police in Rahim Yar Khan have launched an intelligence-based search operation in the Katcha-adjacent areas, including Paka Chandia and Dawa Wala. As part of this operation, two facilitators of Katcha criminals have been arrested, and their hideouts have been demolished. The Punjab Police spokesperson said the search operation specifically targets individuals suspected of aiding dacoits. The operation is being led under the supervision of ASP Sadiqabad, with SHOs from Kot Sabzal, Bhong, and Ahmedpur Lama, along with elite commandos and a significant police force. The police are utilising armored and bulletproof vehicles for the operation. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, emphasized that all facilitators of Katcha criminals must be brought to justice to ensure long-term peace in the region.
