Man falls to death from landmark city building
The death of a man who fell from the upper floors of a landmark Birmingham building is not being treated as suspicious.
West Midlands Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene after officers were called at 6.30pm on Saturday to The Cube in Wharfside Street.
The force said in a statement: 'The man's family are aware and they are being supported by officers. The man's death is not being treated as suspicious.'
The Cube, a £100 million development which was completed in 2010, is home to more than 240 flats, a hotel and restaurants.
A statement issued on the building's Facebook page late on Saturday said: 'Earlier today, a serious incident occurred at The Cube Birmingham.
'Emergency services attended the scene and continue to carry out a full investigation.
'Access to the building has now been partially restored. Residents are permitted to return to their homes; however, all commercial venues within The Cube remain temporarily closed as a precaution and out of respect while inquiries continue.
'We are fully co-operating with the authorities and will continue to follow their guidance.
'We understand this may be distressing, and our thoughts are with all those affected by today's events.
'At this stage, we will not be providing further comment, and we kindly ask for privacy and understanding as the investigation progresses.'

Islanders took to the comments to offer support for the popular venue, with some saying they would come and visit today (Sunday, June 8). The post follows a serious incident on May 28, when police were called to the golf course at 3.40am after an alleged violent assault resulted in a man being found with serious puncture wounds to his back. A boy from Newport was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and burglary and bailed. "This is an Isle of Wight thing more so than the mainland. I feel for every business here. "The big concern is the rapid decline over recent years. 'The government need to support small businesses like other big countries are doing. 'We seem to have no idea how to deal with such problems.' Thankfully, it appears business picked up this afternoon following Browns Golf's post, with live music from Tommy Burnham drawing more visitors to the cafe.

East Lothian man rushed to hospital after being 'struck by SUV that left scene'
Detectives are appealing for information after a 43-year-old man was struck by a car in Port Seton on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Around 1.20am, the 43-year-old man was on Park Road when he was struck by a silver older-style SUV, which then drove off. Police and ambulance attended, and the injured man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Car abandoned and driver on run after high-speed police chase
A police search is underway after police chased a car down a one-way street in Bolton on Sunday (June 8). Officers spotted the black VW Golf on Lever Edge Lane in Great Lever which intelligence had suggested was linked to the supply of drugs across Bolton. But after the driver failed to stop, a pursuit followed as the vehicle then sped down a one way street near to Derby Street.
