Marlins top Giants 12-5 to complete series sweep
Kyle Stowers and Agustín Ramírez each homered and the Miami Marlins beat the San Francisco Giants 12-5 on Thursday to complete a three-game series sweep.
Xavier Edwards had a two-run double for Miami, which has won four straight overall, five of six, and six straight on the road.
Rafael Devers had three hits including a homer and a double for San Francisco, which has lost eight of its last 11.
Devers' homer was his 17th and his second in nine games since being acquired by San Francisco last week.
The Marlins broke a 5-5 tie in the fifth on Eric Wagaman's two-run double in a three-run inning.
Stowers hit a three-run homer in the first and Ramírez hit a two-run shot in the third — both off Giants starter Hayden Birdsong — to give Miami a 5-0 lead.
Devers hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third, and the Giants tied it in the fourth when June Hoo Lee's leadoff triple keyed a three-run inning.
Birdsong (3-2) allowed seven runs and four hits with four walks in four-plus innings.
Josh Simpson (1-0) got the last out of the fourth after Janson Junk allowed five runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Marlins manager Clayton McCullough was ejected after umpires warned both benches in the top of the first after Miami shortstop Otto Lopez was hit by a pitch. The warnings followed three Giants players being struck by pitches Wednesday night in a 10-inning 8-5 loss to Miami.

As the Dolphins look to author a bounce-back campaign, Miami needs its stars to be the best versions of themselves. In CBS' annual look at the NFL's top 100 players, the Dolphins boast a duo among that group headed into the 2025 season. There's just one problem for Miami: One of its biggest stars is likely on his way out in short order. Barry Bonds will be getting a statue outside the Giants' ballpark, team CEO says
Barry Bonds will be getting a statue outside the San Francisco Giants' home stadium where he set baseball's career home run record, the team's CEO said Thursday. Giants President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Baer was asked during a radio interview about a statue for Bonds, and he responded that it was 'on the radar.' But Baer didn't have any details of when that would happen. 'Barry is certainly deserving of a statue, and I would say should be next up,' Baer said during an appearance on San Francisco's 95.7 The Game. 'We don't have the exact location and the exact date and the exact timing (…) It's coming. All I can say is it's coming.' Bonds played for San Francisco the last 15 of his 22 big league seasons, hitting 586 of his 762 homers while with the Giants from 1993-2007. He set the single-season MLB record with 73 homers in 2001, and hit his record-breaking 756th homer to pass Hank Aaron in a home game off Washington's Mike Bacsik on August 7, 2007. There are currently five statues outside Oracle Park, those of Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry and Orlando Cepeda. The Giants retired Bonds' No. 25 jersey in 2018. Bonds, a seven-time MVP and 14-time All-Star, is not in the Hall of Fame. He failed to reach the 75% threshold required during his 10 years on the Baseball Writers Association of America's Hall of Fame ballot, mostly because of steroids allegations that dogged him during his final years with the Giants. The Contemporary Player Committee also passed on electing Bonds in 2022, though the committee could reconsider Bonds' status.
