India is poised to become economic superpower by 2047: Bandi Sanjay
Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has exuded confidence over India becoming an economic superpower by the year 2047, as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his vision document for the Amrit Kaal.
Mr. Sanjay was speaking after inaugurating a photo exhibition highlighting the achievements of the 11 years of the NDA Government at the Centre after wresting power from the UPA in the year 2014.
Drawing parallels between the two regimes, Mr. Sanjay said the UPA Government was marked by a decade of rampant corruption and policy paralysis, while the NDA dispensation ushered in an era of honest administration, corruption-free governance to ensure people-centric development.
'Mr. Narendra Modi's government is more focussed on undoing the damage wreaked by the erstwhile UPA Government on the nation and salvaging the country's reputation. India has now become the fourth largest economy in the world,' he said.
The exhibition showcased the scores of welfare measures and development projects introduced by the Modi government and explained how they collectively changed the living standards of the citizens.
TTD Trust Board member and BJP State spokesperson G. Bhanuprakash Reddy, party leaders S. Muni Subramanyam and Kola Anand, and Tirupati district president Samanchi Srinivas took part in the event.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday that his government in its 11 years has brought innumerable benefits for people by leveraging the power of technology and credited the role of youngsters in shaping and driving many of these changes. The PM reposted an X thread by the IT ministry-led MyGovIndia summarising key digital developments over the past decade. Titled 'Tech it to the top,' the thread highlighted a 2,500-fold increase in Unified Payment Interface (UPI) transaction volumes over the last eight years, and its expansion to over seven countries including a recent entry into Europe via France. According to the recent National Statistical Office's Comprehensive Modular Survey: Telecom 2025, nearly 99.5% of Indians aged 15 to 29 years who can make online banking transactions said they are capable of using UPI for digital payments. In a separate post, the government shared updates on its Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which it said has helped transfer over ₹44 lakh crore across 322 schemes and saved ₹3.48 lakh crore by cutting out leakages. The scale-up of Aadhaar, now used by over 1.4 billion people, was also presented as a pillar of digital governance. The thread also touched on drone innovation, mentioning how it has empowered rural women in initiatives like 'Drone Didis' to strategic deployments in Operation Sindoor. 'Our self-reliance is soaring with 550+ Indian drone companies emerging, and 14,000+ SwaYaan beneficiaries ready to fly,' said the post. In the field of artificial intelligence, the government said it has supported the development of AI Centres of Excellence and AI tools such as Chitralekha (an open-source video transcreation platform) and Everest 1.0 (a multilingual AI model developed under the Hanooman project). The government also lauded the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), a ₹1.55 lakh crore production-PLI scheme aimed at attracting investment and promoting local chip design. The mission was launched by the IT ministry in 2021, and has so far approved six semiconductor units across Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Assam, with many more to be announced soon. In the space sector, ISRO's launch of 393 foreign satellites was cited as a marker of progress, along with a proposed goal of setting up a Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) by 2035. Finally, the government noted that its digital literacy campaign in rural areas, PMGDISHA, had trained over 6.3 crore individuals achieving its targets ahead of schedule. The campaign comes as part of a broader effort by the government to showcase achievements across sectors, as it completes over a decade in office since PM Modi took office on May 26, 2014.

Kerala CM writes to PM Modi on loan waiver for Wayanad landslide victims
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the restoration of Section 13 of the National Disaster Management Act, 2005, that empowers the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to recommend banks to waive or write off loans or grant fresh loans to persons affected by disasters of severe magnitude. The chief minister intervened in the matter a day after the Centre informed the Kerala High Court that the section has been removed. The Centre had also informed that it was unable to write off the loans of the July 2024 Wayanad landslide victims owing to the repeal of the Section 13 from the Act. 'The section enables providing much needed financial relief to the victims of the disaster, who face unexpected crisis and will have to rebuild their lives after incurring heavy losses,' the CM wrote in his letter to Modi. Pinarayi also pointed out that the provision (Section 13) in the Disaster Management Act is included with humanitarian intent and deleting it amounts to putting victims to added hardship.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Friday evening to meet the sole survivor and the people injured in the tragic AI171 flight crash, even as a comprehensive investigation into one of the worst civil aviation disasters intensifies. The PM is also expected to visit the site of the crash, officials said. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the crash site and meet the injured and the families of the victims around 8.30 pm,' a senior Gujarat government official said, adding that a team from Boeing is expected to arrive soon to provide detailed insights into the potential causes of the crash, which marks the first fatal incident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner since its commercial debut in 2011. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 232 passengers and 10 crew members, crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar, Ahmedabad, on Thursday shortly after take-off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft, en route to London's Gatwick airport, issued a 'Mayday' call before losing contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC), reaching only 625 feet before plummeting into a medical college hostel, igniting a massive fire ball. The crash claimed the lives of 241 people on board and at least three medical students on ground. The sole survivor, a British national of Indian origin seated near an emergency exit, is currently at the civil hospital where 45 others, including undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical students, are receiving treatment. Authorities have confirmed that four medical students and the wife of a doctor were also killed in the mishap. Prime Minister Modi is expected to assess the situation, meet officials and review preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation, which is being led by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft may have experienced a malfunction in a wing flap as the landing gear was seen to be in a downward position during ascent, which is unusual for that phase of the flight, an Airports Authority of India official said. Investigators are also considering possibilities like overloading or a bird strike, though clear weather conditions rule out environmental factors, he added. The aircraft's flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, commonly referred to as the 'black box', are being analysed. A high-level committee has been established to ensure a thorough and transparent probe, adhering to international aviation safety protocols. Rajeshbhai Patni, a 47-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, was dropping off passengers near the hostel when the flight crashed. He witnessed the devastating moment firsthand as the aircraft collided with the building. 'I saw the plane exploding when it hit the roof. I saw red and black flames emerging from the building. I left my autorickshaw and ran for my life,' recounted Patni, who sustained injuries on his chest and leg. Sandeep Datani, who runs a coconut stall approximately 2km from the crash site, rushed to the scene after spotting smoke. 'I saw smoke rising and rushed to see what happened. There was another blast and that's when I started running,' said Datani, who escaped unhurt.
