How Kannappa Actor Vishnu Manchu's Twelve Jyotirlinga Temples Darshan Came To A "Divine Close"
Chennai:
Actor Vishnu Manchu, who plays the lead in director Mukesh Kumar Singh's upcoming magnum opus, Kannappa, has now announced that the journey he had undertaken to visit all the 12 holy Jyothirlingas, situated across the country, had come to a divine close with his darshan at the Sri Sailam Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple.
Taking to his social media timelines to make the announcement, he wrote, "Twelve Jyotirlingas. One journey. Eternal peace. Just completed the sacred darshan at Sri Sailam Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple — one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. With this visit, my journey to all twelve Jyotirlinga temples comes to a divine close."
The actor further said, "My heart is full. My soul feels blessed. Life right now is filled with nothing but positivity, gratitude, and peace. As I stand at the edge of this spiritual milestone, I now look forward to the next chapter #Kannappa, releasing worldwide on June 27. A film close to my heart. A story that reflects the very spirit I carry today. Har Har Mahadev! #Kannappa27thJune."
Vishnu Manchu, while announcing this journey on social media, had said, 'I have to truthfully admit one thing. Before starting work on 'Kannappa', I was not such a big devotee of Lord Shiva. I was a devotee of Lord Hanuman and I would recite the Hanuman Chalisa every day even to this day.
'When I wrote Kannappa, I researched a lot and that brought about a lot of changes in me. I found out about what Jyothrilingas were and why one must visit them. I decided that I must visit all these 12 holy places where these Jyothirlingas are situated,' the actor had explained.
'A lot of people do not know what these Jyothirlingas are. I too did not know their significance until a while back. So, for people like me who do not know about the Jyothirlingas, I have decided to do a series of videos on Jyothirlingas.'

The actor then went on to explain the different beliefs in different yugas. 'We are in Kaliyug now. In Sathyayuga, the belief was that one could get closer to God if one did penance. The belief then was that meditation would help you realise the purpose of your life. Now, in Kaliyug, the belief is that if you visit holy places, you will not only come closer to God but will also know the purpose behind your birth.'
'These 12 Jyothirlingas are powerful places. These places are testimony to the fact that Lord Shiva walked among common people. From Kedarnath to Rameshwaram, there are 12 Jyothirlingas all across the country. There is a story behind each story. I wish to visit each one of the Jyothirlingas. The belief is that one will be able to realise one's life purpose near one of the 12 Jyothirlingas. Today, my purpose of life is to be an actor till the day I die. But what is the higher purpose of my life? This journey to the 12 Jyothirlingas is a journey of self-realisation for me. I have already visited three Jyothirlingas -- Kedarnath, Omkareshwar and Ujjain. I will tell about these three temples in my next video. I will also narrate the story of all the Jyothirlingas before I visit them,' he had said then.

Mukesh Kumar Singh: We aimed for something extraordinary with Kannappa
The director's transition from television to film feels natural to him. 'Whether it's TV or cinema, for me it's storytelling,' he explains, 'Many of my TV shows had budgets bigger than 80% of the films being made. Mahabharat was a 200-crore project. But cinema is like a novel, something you preserve. You read it, keep it on your shelf. Television is a newspaper read and forgotten.' What makes this film distinct, he believes, is its emotional thread. 'Yes, there is a lot of action,' he says, 'but from the first scene to the last, there's an undercurrent of devotion, identity, and transformation. This is not just a film about a miracle. It's about how a man with nothing becomes the greatest devotee.' Singh is conscious of the legacy he is stepping into. 'There have been films on Kannappa before,' he acknowledges, 'but I have seen them all, and we knew we had to create something new, something that would speak to this generation.'

Kannappa: AP govt grants ticket price hike of Rs 50 for Vishnu Manchu starrer
Kannappa starring Vishnu Manchu is slated to hit the big screens on June 27, 2025. Ahead of the fantasy movie's release, it has now received a ticket price hike by the Andhra Pradesh government. In an official update by the government shared by multiple sources, including Aakashavani, Kannappa is set to receive a price hike of Rs 50 on tickets. This hike in the ticket rates will be for a total of 10 days for both single screens and multiplexes in the state. Earlier, the government had issued a price hike on tickets for the Dhanush and Nagarjuna Akkineni starrer Kuberaa, which released on June 20, 2025. For those unaware, Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu, is an upcoming fantasy film based on the legend of Kannappa from Hindu mythology. The story narrates the tale of a non-believer man and hunter, Thinnandu, who, in his due course of life, becomes an ardent follower of lord Shiva. Aside from the lead actor, the film features stars like Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal in cameo appearances. Moreover, it has Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, and more in supporting roles. As the legendary tale goes, it is believed that Kannappa was a saint in the Saiva Siddhanta tradition, closely connected with the Srikalahasti Temple in Andhra Pradesh. Originally a hunter, Kannappa discovered a Siva Lingam. Offering the idol of Shiva with water and even meat from his hunts, the god was pleased with the hunter's devotion, despite it being considered an unconventional practice. As the story progresses, the man finally decides to give the god one of his eyes as an offering. As he was about to give his second eye, Lord Shiva intervened and stopped him. While multiple actors are set to appear in cameo roles, Prabhas will be playing the role of Rudra, a Rigvedic deity. The makers of the movie have announced that the film will have the actor for approximately 45 minutes of screentime. Talking about the Rebel Star's work front, Prabhas is next set to appear in the lead role for The Raja Saab. The horror comedy movie is slated to release on December 5, 2025.
