The UAE Aid Agency brought together key international partners at the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2025) to drive forward sustainable, coordinated responses to global humanitarian and development challenges.
Held as a strategic roundtable session, the meeting aimed to enhance collaboration among humanitarian actors and improve the efficiency of aid delivery to vulnerable communities around the world.
Participants focused on building stronger frameworks for cooperation with global organizations, with an emphasis on streamlining procedures to ensure quicker, more targeted responses in crisis zones.
The roundtable also highlighted the need to align international aid priorities with both global goals and community-specific needs. Stakeholders stressed the importance of addressing critical development sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, poverty, and malnutrition.

UAE Enforces Midday Break to Protect Outdoor Workers Starting June 15
The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has confirmed the return of the annual Midday Break, banning outdoor work between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm from 15 June to 15 September 2025. Now in its 21st year, the regulation aims to safeguard workers from heat-related health risks during peak summer temperatures. The Midday Break aligns with the UAE's commitment to international occupational safety standards and sustainable labour practices. It mandates employers to provide shaded rest areas, cooling equipment, drinking water, and first-aid supplies to workers during the restricted hours. 'This initiative reflects the UAE's deeply rooted social and humanitarian values,' said Mohsin Ali Al Nassi, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection & Compliance at MoHRE. 'With over 99% compliance in recent years, the private sector continues to demonstrate strong awareness of worker welfare.' Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection, praised the private sector's efforts, noting that many companies now offer fully equipped rest facilities. 'The Midday Break is a model of cooperation between government, businesses, and the wider community,' she said. Certain essential or technically sensitive jobs—such as infrastructure repairs or tasks requiring uninterrupted execution—are exempt from the rule but still require permits and adherence to safety measures. To ensure compliance, MoHRE will carry out inspections and field visits while encouraging the public to report violations. Offenders face fines of AED5,000 per worker, up to AED50,000 for multiple breaches. UAE evacuates 188 patients, family members from Gaza
The UAE has airlifted 101 injured Gazans and 87 accompanying family members from Israel to receive medical treatment in the Emirates. It follows the directive by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide treatment and healthcare to 1,000 wounded Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip at UAE hospitals. So far, 2,630 patients and family members have arrived in the UAE for medical care. Carried out in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the UAE's latest evacuation flight was from Ramon airport in Israel, via Karam Abu Salam crossing. 'During this critical time, the UAE will spare no effort to extend help to the Palestinians and launch initiatives for their aid whether by land, sea, or air," said Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency. "We will continue to closely work... with the United Nations and our international partners to intensify the necessary efforts to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and ensure the urgent, safe, unhindered, and sustainable delivery of aid at a wide scale and through all possible means. "The UAE is among the leading countries in providing support to the people in Gaza. Since the onset of the crisis in October 2023, the country has provided over 40 per cent of the total amount of aid delivered." Al Shamsi noted that the UAE has provided over 65,000 tonnes of relief, food and medical supplies to support the Palestinians.
