"The training, which began on July 21, is also for the 1,060 personnel, who were appointed earlier. Altogether 22,300 police personnel are undergoing training during this session," said additional director general (ADG), training, Sanjay Singh.
The training program will span nine months, during which the recruits will undergo rigorous training to prepare them for their roles in maintaining law and order across the state.
The ADG said, "The training are being conducted in several districts at police training centres having comprehensive resources to ensure effective training. A total of 33 districts and 15 police training centres have been identified for this purpose, and training infrastructure has also been expanded at these centres to accommodate the large number of recruits. Additionally, training is also being provided at some CRPF and SSB centres.

In district training centres, 8,965 male constables will be trained. Meanwhile, 10,499 female constables will receive training at BSAP (Bihar Special Armed Police) training centres. Training will also be organised for 614 men at the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) unit in Chandauli and 685 women at the Mokama centre. Additionally, 628 male constables will undergo training at SSB centres in Bagaha, Bettiah, and Sitamarhi.
The ADG further said that in addition to the standard training, special focus will be given to enhancing the skills of the recruits in various areas, including cybercrime, disaster management, and community policing, he said.
"To instruct the newly appointed constables, 490 internal and 980 external instructors have been deployed. These instructors recently underwent orientation training at the Bihar Police Academy in Rajgir.
All instructors will be given a 12% training allowance as per regulations. Moreover, three new laws of BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), effective from 2024, have been included in the syllabus for the constables.
The new basic training curriculum is divided into three parts, consisting of over 1,100 pages, and a free copy will be provided to all trainees," the ADG added.
The Bihar Police Headquarters has also collaborated with JEEVIKA for better management of the training process, ensuring that all training centres are equipped with the necessary resources.

Magadh moves on from Maoist strife after decades of bloodshed
Gaya: Barring isolated incidents such as the burning of road construction machinery and minor extortion demands, the Magadh region, once a stronghold of Maoist insurgents, has witnessed no major violence in recent years. The last significant attack occurred in 2021 on the Gaya-Aurangabad border when nearly a dozen CRPF commandos were killed in Maoist-triggered IED explosions. Four Maoists were also killed in the police's retaliatory operation. For nearly two decades, from the 1980s to the early 2000s, Maoists dominated much of the Magadh division. Govt officials in rural postings and contractors working on infrastructure projects were forced to pay hefty protection money. Almost all block-level officials abandoned their headquarters, living instead in Gaya city or sub-divisional towns such as Sherghati. That situation has now changed dramatically. The region's history is marked by some of the worst massacres in Bihar's insurgency years. In Dalel Chak Baghora (Aurangabad district), 55 men, women and children from a landowning caste were killed. In Bara (Gaya district) and Senari (Jehanabad district), 35 male adults were slain in each incident. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo In retaliation, the Ranvir Sena, a private militia of the Bhumihar community, massacred 55 people, mostly Dalits, in Laxmanpur Bathe (Arwal district) and 35 OBCs and Dalits in Miapur village (Aurangabad district). The Maoists also staged the high-profile Jehanabad jail break, freeing about 400 inmates, including veteran leader Ajai Kanu, and killing nearly a dozen prisoners suspected of being Ranvir Sena supporters. In another attack, they stormed Tekari police station in broad daylight, killing five policemen. Today, most of these areas are peaceful. Arun Kumar Prasad, a retired professor of philosophy, attributes the decline of Maoism to "a mix of administrative, ideological, social and economic factors". He said retaliation by the Ranvir Sena had a significant effect. "Maoists, operating on the principle of minimum risk, retreated when challenged through counter-violence," Prasad added. However, Masoom Aziz Kazmi, a retired IPS officer and former Aurangabad SP during the height of insurgency, said, "The Ranvir Sena was a factor, but not the main one. Improved police mobility due to better roads and an offensive policing strategy paid dividends." Observers also point to a change in political approach. "While the Lalu-Rabri govt appeared to treat Maoists with kid gloves, the Nitish govt adopted a more business-like and at times ruthlessapproach," said one. Anup Kedia, former head of the Central Bihar Chamber of Commerce, said the poor had grown disillusioned with the Maoist leadership. Whatever the reasons, the decline in Maoist activities in Magadh is now unmistakable. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Axed CRPF jawan dies by suicide, blames wife
Patna: A suspended CRPF jawan on parole allegedly ended his life in Bihar's Saran district, leaving behind a video and suicide note accusing his wife and mother-in-law of mental harassment. Anand Kumar, 45, a resident of Jakhua village under Rivilganj police station, consumed poison on Thursday night. He had been released on 90-day parole from a Jammu and Kashmir jail, where he was serving a life sentence for killing three colleagues in 2006. In the video, Anand alleged, "My wife Sarita and my mother-in-law have together ruined my family and my life. I am taking this step because of them. Only my wife Sarita is responsible for my death." He claimed his wife emotionally blackmailed him, insulted him and that her family also mentally tortured him. Rivilganj SHO Subhash Kumar Paswan, however, said Anand fell ill after dinner on Thursday. "The family rushed him to Chhapra Sadar Hospital, where he passed away during treatment on Friday night. The police conducted an autopsy and handed over the body to the family," he said. "The authenticity and other aspects of the video circulating on social media are being investigated," the SHO added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Official IQ Test: What is Your IQ? | Answer 30 Questions to Find Out IQ International Undo Police said Anand was convicted in 2006 for fatally shooting inspector Shyam, havildar Joginder and havildar H N Pandey while on guard duty at then Jammu and Kashmir CM Ghulam Nabi Azad's residence. Woman constable found dead, FIRlodged; autopsy indicates ‘foul play'
Pilibhit: Police in Pilibhit have registered an FIR under BNS section 108 (abetment to suicide) in the case involving the death of an SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) woman constable on Aug 6, 2025. Cops claimed it was a case of suicide. However, the autopsy report says "there are over 10 injury marks on her body and her trachea". A senior officer said on Saturday that the FIR was lodged based on CCTV footage at the hotel in Dausa where the woman stayed with her family. The footage was later shared by Rajasthan cops. The woman, a resident of Jahanabad, Pilibhit district, died in Dausa under mysterious circumstances during her visit to Mehandipur Bala Ji temple with her family. Her family initially claimed that she died of illness but informed Pilibhit police that she committed suicide. CO of Pilibhit sadar circle, Vidhi Bhushan Maurya, said the FIR was filed based on a letter sent to SHO of Jahanabad by a deputy commandant of SSB, who termed her death as "unnatural". ASP Vikram Dahiya, meanwhile, said, "We will constitute a three-member panel of govt medical officers to review the autopsy report to reach a final conclusion about the actual cause of her death... We've lodged a zero FIR, which is to be transferred to Dausa police." Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
