Powys venue to host Britain's elite bowlers this summer
The British Bowls Championships and International Series will be held at Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club from next month.
The showpiece event begins on Monday, June 23 and will conclude on Sunday, June 29.
Practice will dominate Monday before the championships take place on Tuesday and Wednesday with the international series beginning on Thursday after Wednesday morning's opening ceremony.
Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club is the largest bowling club in Wales.
Set in the heart of the Welsh countryside with panoramic views, there are three greens of international standard catering for all levels of competition.
A major venue, the club is host to national, international and county bowling events throughout the season, as well as club competition.
The series will see the top bowlers from Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland and Jersey compete in singles, pairs, triples and fours disciplines.
The event will bring over 300 bowlers from Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland and Jersey to Llandrindod Wells for a week long feast of bowls action.
The event will bring hundreds of bowlers and spectators to the event using the local bars and restaurants, pubs and accommodation within the town and the local area.
Entry to the event is free and is a great spectacle with action each day from 8.30am until 8.30pm.
Powys will be well represented with June Morgan, Barbara Sheers, Fiona Preece and Jo Weale of Presteigne Bowls Club competing in the ladies fours championship.
Berriew's Caroline Taylor captain's the senior women's side in the international series and is joined by club-mate Emma Gittins along with Naomi Evans from Llanidloes and Jo Weale from Presteigne.

The potential for increased television production in Wales was also a topic of conversation. Mr Davies said: "It was encouraging to hear about the rise in TV drama productions being made in Wales and I'll continue to champion efforts to grow this further, as it brings not only investment but real opportunities for our communities and the tourism sector." He also suggested the idea of enhanced coverage of the Wales Women's National Football Team, with the possibility of introducing studio-based broadcasting from stadiums during live matches. Mr Davies finished by saying: "My sincere thanks to the team at BBC Wales for such a warm welcome and a truly insightful visit."

Since being taken over by the Deadpool actor and his fellow screen star Rob McElhenney in February 2021, the Welsh club have achieved an impressive three consecutive promotions. The Red Dragons are now gearing up for their first season back in the second tier after a 43-year absence. The Hollywood duo have been lauded for their impact on Wrexham's fortunes, with their ambitions now set on reaching the Premier League. However, ex-Everton midfielder Donovan has questioned the narrative of the team's ascent depicted in the Welcome to Wrexham documentary. Appearing on the Unfiltered Soccer podcast, which he presents alongside US legend Tim Howard, Donovan suggested that the owners' success was largely due to significant financial investment. He also put Reynolds and McElhenney on the spot about whether they're prepared to dig deeper into their pockets to help Wrexham's push for the top flight. "If you watch the show, you think it's some miracle, but it's not a miracle," Donovan said. "It's an amazing story, but they have also spent at the top of every one of the leagues they've been in. "The question now is whether they can do it in the Championship. My first thought was no, but I did see a report last week that they were willing to offer a player £50,000 a week. "They clearly have the money to do it, but are they going to take the risk? It's a big risk now, and you could lose £30m or £40m and not get promoted. It's going to be interesting to watch." However, Howard was more upbeat about Wrexham's chances of making the challenging leap to the top. Despite acknowledging the substantial investment in the team, the ex-Manchester United goalkeeper highlighted that splashing out money doesn't always equate to success. Howard said: "They say the hardest jump in all of the promotions is from the Championship to the Premier League, because there is just more money in that league. "Money makes the world go round when it comes to football or sports, and they [Wrexham] are pumping a tonne of money into that team. They're just better and if they continue to do that, I think they could possibly do it [be promoted]. "It's mind-blowing if you think about it because this could have easily gone the other way. It could have easily gone really bad because they spent a tonne of money on the wrong players and didn't get this success." He added: "The Premier League is filled with all sorts of crazy stories and I hope they are able to do it." Videos of violence from last Saturday night in Calgary city centre have been circulating on social media and we understand several of those pictured are members of Nelson RFC's senior men's team, grappling with what are believed to be locals outside a bar. Members of the rugby side, who are believed to be have been in the country on rugby tour, are understood to be dressed in shirts and ties and are seen in physical altercations with bar-goers. The brawl then looks like it separates into two smaller scuffles to the left and right of the bar. When he rises to his feet he is punched by a different man to the floor, falling backwards into the street. Nelson Rugby Football Club are a Welsh rugby union club team based in Caerphilly who plays in the Welsh Rugby Union's Division One East League. Their club badge is a white unicorn on black. Nelson RFC said they are working to investigate the incident with the WRU and will provide a comment in due course. The WRU have been approached for comment.
