Report: C.J. Stroud not throwing because of a pectoral issue

NBC Sports30-05-2025

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud isn't throwing at organized team activities.
Stroud has a tight pectoral muscle that is considered 'relatively minor,' Aaron Wilson of KPRC reports.
The one-time Pro Bowler handed off to the running backs but mostly did rehab work and watched from the sideline alongside offensive coordinator Nick Caley, per Wilson. Backup Davis Mills ran the first-team offense.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans downplayed Stroud's injury, and Caley said he has 'no concerns whatsoever.'
Stroud, 23, took a step back last season when he threw for less yards and fewer touchdowns with a lower completion percentage compared to his rookie year. He also threw more interceptions and took more sacks.
Stroud won offensive rookie of the year in 2023.

93 days until the Texans' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 93?

The Houston Texans are less than 100 days away from kicking off the 2025 season in Los Angeles against the Rams at SoFi Stadium and we're counting down the days until a victory ensues on the west coast. Texans Wire will each day tell you which player has worn the number of the day leading up to kickoff and pick the player who ensured the number best during their time at NRG Stadium. As for today, let's take a look at who has won No. 93 since the inaugural season in 2002. Texans players to wear No. 93 No. 93 currently belongs to Kurt Hinish, who's back on a one-year deal after missing chunks of last season due to injury. He's been a solid depth piece since joining Houston as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame in 2022, but he's not the best player to don the number in the last 20 years. DL Kurt Hinish (2022-present) DL Jaleel Johnson (2021) DL Joel Heath (2016-2019) DL Jared Crick (2012-2015) DL Tim Bulman (2007-2009, 2011) DE Jason Babin (2004-2006) LB Kevin DeRonde (2003) DL Erick Flowers (2002) Best Player: Jason Babin Babin might be better known for his time in Seattle or Philadelphia, but he kick-started his success as a pass-rusher in Houston. The former first-round pick notched 13 sacks and 25 tackles for loss before being shipped off to the Seahawks in 2007. Babin's breakout year in Tennessee with 12.5 sacks eventually led to a megadeal with the Eagles on a five-year contract. He terrorized the Texans during his brief stay in Nashville, but he'll always be remembered -- at least for the time being -- as the best player to wear No. 93.

What Is Cowboys' Worst-Case Scenario For 2025?

What Is Cowboys' Worst-Case Scenario For 2025? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Right now, there are positive vibes flowing through The Star as Brian Schottenheimer's Dallas Cowboys vision is becoming clear to see. Advertisement But as we know, it doesn't take too much for those vibes to be replaced with negative ones. Yes, we are early in the offseason, and everyone looks like a Pro Bowler, so when the regular season rolls around, we will get to see the truest version of Schottenheimer's Cowboys. However, with everything seemingly rolling smoothly, the roster appears to be in good shape for the regular season. Dak Prescott and the offense have been upgraded, and so too has the defense. Expectations for Dallas in 2025 vary from playoffs to missing out altogether. But if the Cowboys are to return to the postseason, what is one thing that simply can't happen? Of all the bad things that could transpire, I offer this as what some might call the worst-case scenario, and I write this with fingers, toes, and anything else you can think of crossed. Advertisement Prescott goes down again. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) scrambles against the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter at Mercedes-Benz Davis-Imagn Images Having not missed a single game in his first four seasons, of Dak's next five years, he's only played a full year twice. We saw last season how quickly things unraveled when Prescott tore part of his hamstring off the bone, and for Schottenheimer, he has to keep Dak on the field. No longer the running threat he once was, Dak can now hopefully lean on a run game that was non-existent last season, plus he has George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb as his go-to weapons. When Dak is healthy, Dallas is a playoff team. It is that simple. So, keeping him upright and out of the treatment room is crucial to any success the Cowboys hope to have in 2025. Advertisement He is approaching his 32nd birthday, so Dak is no spring chicken, but losing him again as the franchise did last season is nightmare fuel. For now, and the future, because that could be thrown into question as well. So, my friends, knock on wood, cross your fingers and toes that Mr. Prescott stays on the field. Because Dallas' success depends on it. Aqib Talib reacts to being snubbed by College Football Hall of Fame

Aqib Talib reacts to being snubbed by College Football Hall of Fame Nominees for the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame class were announced earlier this week, and six former Denver Broncos players made the list, including retired pass rusher Elvis Dumervil. Aqib Talib, meanwhile, was not among the ex-Denver players nominated. The retired cornerback played for Kansas, winning the Jack Tatum Trophy (given to college football's best defensive back) in his final season. Talib was also named a unanimous All-American in his last season, and he was named a first-team All-Big 12 player in 2006 and 2007 before entering the NFL in 2008. Talib reacted to his CFB HOF snub on his Twitter/X page earlier this week. "Y'all tell me," Talib tweeted. "Am I College football Hall of Fame? Go check the numbers (Offense & Defense) and accolades and let me know! Im just saying NFF! This was on my mind this morning." Talib played in 34 games with the Jayhawks from 2005-2007, totaling 162 tackles, 13 interceptions and two forced fumbles. He returned two of his interceptions for touchdowns, racking up 322 yards on 13 returns. Talib also hauled in nine receptions for 224 yards and five touchdowns during his final two seasons at Kansas. Talib went on to have a 12-year career in the NFL. A five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Talib helped the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 in 2015. He retired in 2020 with 35 career interceptions, 10 of which he returned for touchdowns (fourth-most in NFL history). Talib is also now eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but today's topic is college football. Do you think he should get in? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter/X!
