A WOMAN has left people gobsmacked after sharing her epic kitchen makeover on a budget.
According to data by HiF Kitchens, the average cost of a mid-range kitchen transformation is around £20,000-£30,000 - but thrifty Megan Pender proved there's no need to fork out the eye-watering sum.

The money-smart mum, from the UK, managed to revamp her dull kitchen on a tight budget thanks to purse-friendly buys.
What's even more impressive, Megan revealed in the post, she and her hubby did everything themselves - and the "after" snaps would make you think it was a professional job.
Before the renovation project, which cost the couple less than £100, the beige kitchen lacked character, featuring wooden cupboards, a dark grey worktop and no curtains by the windows.
But working on the DIY glow-up, the crafty pair managed to totally turn it upside down, giving the kitchen a brand new look, giving it a more modern feel.
Instead of spending hundreds on new cupboards, the Facebook user decided to simply zhuzh up the existing set by painting them with Rust-Oleum Hessian Matt Cupboard Paint.
Fellow DIY lovers can get this now on sale at Dunelm for just £18.40 for a 750ml tin - and according to Megan, they only used one pot.
Whilst sprucing up the cupboards, the couple also changed the old handles - and replaced them with chic matt black ones that cost them less than £2.

For the kitchen counter, the mum told other members of the popular DIY On A Budget Official, the couple used D-C-Fix Ribbeck Matt & satin Oak Woodgrain effect Decorative film, which you can get for a mere £13 at B&Q.
Another subtle yet effective touch was the new set of blinds, which Megan had found at Next, the shared in the comments.

All chuffed with the epic glow-up - and rightly so - Anne proudly showed off the jaw-dropping results on social media.

'I bought a cordless leaf blower, it's great at tidying the garden'
I have to say I've been really impressed with this £50 garden gadget It's June, the sun is (somewhat) shining and we're all eager to spend more time outside. Especially my young son, Teddy, who's quickly transitioned from crawling to practically sprinting in what feels like a fortnight. Consequently, I had to sort out my garden, replacing a muddy corner that doesn't see much sunlight with a fenced-off play area. All well and good, problem solved, right? Not exactly. Despite the play area being fantastic, one issue quickly emerged - on a blustery day, the fencing essentially serves as a pen for collecting what seems like every leaf in the vicinity. Naturally, as a ten-month-old, Ted has to put anything he picks up directly into his mouth, so I was keen to find an easy solution to the leaf issue. I already owned a corded leaf blower that is quite powerful and excellent for clearing away things like hedge and grass clippings. The issue is, it's a bit of a hassle setting it up, as I have to retrieve it from the garage and get out an extension lead - not something you want to be doing daily. In search of a simpler, and quicker, solution for clearing leaves and general debris tossed around by the wind, I turned to the McGregor Cordless Garden Leaf Blower, purchasing it from Argos for £50. I've since found out that there's a way to get it even cheaper for £34.38 by using TopCashback, more on how to do that below. And I must admit, I've been thoroughly impressed. Its cordless and battery-powered design makes it a breeze to quickly whip out of the cupboard to clear the play area in a couple of minutes. It may not be as powerful as my corded version, but it's more than up to the task of swiftly shifting the leaves and tidying everything up. It's incredibly straightforward to use. Simply select the power setting you need from one to six (naturally, I always just crank it up to the highest setting), press the button and off you go. It boasts impressive power and is incredibly handy for giving the garden a quick spruce up. Initially, I noticed my hand beginning to ache slightly after pressing the button for a few minutes, only to realise it has a function to lock the button on so you don't have to keep it pressed down. My only minor gripe is that the battery doesn't last forever. It's more than sufficient to blast the debris scattered around the garden into oblivion, but if you're planning to use it for an extended period, you might be better off opting for a corded option like the Einhell Leaf Blower Vacuum, priced at £51.95 at B&Q. That model comes with a vacuum function and a catch bag, making it a preferable choice for gardeners wanting to collect the leaves and dispose of them. It's worth mentioning that the three reviews for that product are mixed, with two four-star and one three-star rating. Shoppers have remarked that it "does the job" but pointed out that it becomes "a little bit heavy after a while." If you're eager for the confidence that comes with well-known brands, Amazon carries Dewalt's 18V XR Compact Blower, albeit for a steeper £71.94. It boasts a design focused on being exceptionally light, making it an appealing option for those worrying about weight. She revealed that the dramatic transformation happened just six weeks apart. "Can enjoy the garden again now," she told her fellow gardening enthusiasts. "Wow, that looks amazing to have achieved that in a relatively short period of time, I'm a very new gardener and seeing this has given me even more encouragement," said one person. "Depressing to amazing. What different colour actually makes to the eye, mind, and mood," agreed another commenter. "Absolutely fantastic!. Such a good feeling to fix a lawn to this. Very well done!" commended a third Facebook user. Another person described the switch up as "incredible" while someone else summed it up as "goals". The original poster was also plagued with requests to "spill the secrets". She revealed that she used "grass seed, lots of it" to tackle her sparse lawn. The Facebook user explained that the experience was a learning process, as she tried a variety of brands before settling on a favourite. Seasonal lawn care schedule Lawn care varies from season to season, with some tasks helping to encourage growth and root development whilst others help maintain the soil quality. Claire Baglin, landscaping category manager from Toolstation has shared lawn care tasks and tips for each season: Spring (March, April, May) Start to mow the grass bi-weekly in March when the soil and air temperatures typically reach above 6C. Fertilise the lawn for the first time during March using some quick-release fertiliser that is rich in nitrogen to help promote shoot growth. Scarify the lawn for the first time during April to remove any built-up moss or thatch that can accumulate throughout the winter. Aerate the lawn during April by spiking holes into the soil surface. This will help to loosen the soil and encourage growth. Overseeding can also be carried out throughout April to patch up any thin or bare areas of grass. Summer (June, July, August) From June start to cut your grass once a week - apart from in periods of extreme heat and droughts. Increase the cutting height to protect the lawn from any possible droughts. In June make sure to treat the lawn for any weeds - this can either be manual removal for individual weeds or using weed killer for larger clusters. During July and August make sure to water the lawn at least once a week by giving it a soak for 5-10 minutes. Autumn (September, October, November) From September reduce the lawn mowing frequency back to once every two weeks and conduct the last mow of the year in November. Fertilise the lawn for a second time during October using a slow-release fertiliser that is rich in phosphorous and potassium to strengthen the lawn. Throughout October and November remove any fallen leaves and other debris from the lawn surface. Winter (December, January, February) From December to the end of February leave the lawn alone. Grass typically does not grow in the colder winter temperatures. Winter is the perfect time of the year to conduct any lawnmower maintenance including checking over the blades and filters. She revealed that she even mixed in "a bit of sand" to the mix at one point. "Once down, we then walked all over it to compact it down, then watered a couple of times a day in the hot weather, less if cloudy," she said. "We also bought Miracle Gro liquid lawn food fast green and a spray attachment for the hose pipe and have fed it once a week."
