Got rats? MPAJ offers to pay RM3 for each at Pekan Ampang market
The initiative, held in collaboration with the local Zone 8 Residents' Committee, is part of efforts to curb the spread of rat-borne diseases such as leptospirosis.
Under the 'Kempen Basmi Tikus MPAJ', participants will receive RM3 for each rat caught during the campaign period.
MPAJ said the effort aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically goals on good health and sustainable communities.
Cash redemption counters will operate from 9.30am to 12.00pm between July 8 and 25 at the Pasar Pekan Ampang compound.
Participation is open to traders operating in and around the Ampang market area.

DPM Zahid arrives in Singapore for republic's national day parade
SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi arrived in Singapore on Saturday for a two-day working visit and to represent the Malaysian government at the 2025 Singapore National Day Parade this evening. He was received by Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan and Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia Vanu Gopala Menon. "This visit is highly significant as this year marks the 60th anniversary of Malaysia-Singapore diplomatic relations. "God willing, I believe this visit will further strengthen the longstanding friendship between our two nations and open more doors for cooperation that will benefit our people and countries," Zahid said in a post on Facebook. During the visit, he is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and hold a bilateral meeting with Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Zahid, who is also the rural and regional development minister, said discussions will focus on bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest to strengthen existing ties. In 2024, Singapore was Malaysia's second-largest trading partner globally and its largest among Asean member states, with total trade amounting to about RM396.22 billion (US$86.69 billion). Boom times for Kunak as Sabah govt plans 15-year transformation for east coast
KUNAK, Aug 9 — The development of the Kunak New Township is set to drive local economic transformation and reshape the district's industrial landscape, said Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun. Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Masidi said the multi-phase project, estimated to take five to 15 years to complete, reflects strong investor confidence and aligns with the State's Sabah Maju Jaya strategic plan. The development comprises three key components: commercial, residential and light industrial zones. 'I'm confident this new township will become a nucleus for economic activity in Kunak and create more opportunities for the district to move forward, like other new towns in Sabah,' he told reporters. Located near the Pan Borneo Highway and Jalan Kunak Spur, the township is also expected to enhance tourism and support local products, potentially reaching markets beyond the district. Masidi noted the strong commitment from local leaders and urged all agencies and stakeholders to play their part in realising the vision for Kunak as a strategic growth hub. He also commended the area's natural beauty, highlighting his visit to the increasingly popular Tasik Impian, surrounded by virgin forest in Mostyn.
