Jon Rahm claims LIV Golf season-long individual title despite being winless all season
For the second time in as many years with the league, Jon Rahm stormed from behind to steal LIV Golf's season-long individual championship from Joaquin Niemann.
Rahm made 10 birdies, an eagle and a bogey en route to a blistering 11-under 60 in the final round Sunday at LIV Golf Indy at the Club at Chatham Hills, finishing in a tie for first at 22 under with Sebastian Munoz, who made headlines when he fired a 59 in Friday's first round.
Munoz ultimately won the playoff in just one extra hole, capturing his first LIV Golf victory, but Rahm had already clinched the season-long title in regulation due to Niemann's T-4 finish.
It's the second runner-up finish in a row and third of the season for Rahm, who claims the season-long title without actually winning a single event outright all year. He did, however, finish inside the top 10 in all but one of his 13 starts.
Rahm and Niemann entered the week as the only two in contention for LIV Golf's race for the individual championship. Niemann — who won five LIV Golf events this season — had a 12-point advantage in the standings when LIV Golf Indy started but ended up narrowly behind Rahm.
Rahm, a two-time major champion, started hot and stayed hot throughout the day, making birdies on the first two holes before making three in a row on holes 9-11. An eagle on the par-5 13th made it seem as if Rahm was going to run away with the title but a bogey on the very next hole opened the door again. That door was slammed shut down the stretch, as the 30-year-old Spaniard made four birdies in a row to finish the round.
With the performance Sunday, Rahm takes home $20.25 million — $2.25 million for his runner-up finish at LIV Golf Indy and an extra $18 million bonus for his season-long championship victory.

Meet the four sister acts that have won on the LPGA, including the first set of twins
LPGA rookie Akie Iwai joined twin sister Chisato as a first-time winner on LPGA after her dominating victory at the Stanford Portland Classic. The Iwais are the fourth sister act to win on the LPGA, and the first set of twins. Sister sets have been part of the tour since the beginning. Alice Bauer and Marlene Hagge-Vossler were both founders of the LPGA in 1950. While Hagge-Vossler won 26 times on the LPGA, Bauer never did win, becoming a mother shortly after the tour started. How much of an impact is it to have a sister by your side? Three have risen to No. 1 in the world. Chisato, who tied for third in Portland, won earlier this year at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba. Together they have 14 wins on the JLPGA. Akie rose to No. 24 in the world after her victory; Chisato ranks 30th. Here's a look at three other winning sister acts on the LPGA: Annika and Charlotta Sorenstam Charlotta Sorenstam, known as "Lotta," is two years younger than Annika. Her lone victory on the LPGA came in 2000 at the Standard Register Ping, where she defeated Karrie Webb by two strokes. She also joined her sister on the 1998 European Solheim Cup team. Charlotta won the 1993 NCAA Championship title at Texas. Annika had won it two years prior while at Arizona. Annika, of course, is a 72-time winner on the LPGA, including 10 majors. After Charlotta's playing career ended, she worked as the head teaching professional at her sister's academy. She currently works as a Performance Coach at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn The Thai sisters teamed up to win an LPGA title at the Dow Championship four years ago. The elder Moriya, 31, who goes by "Mo," is a three-time winner on the LPGA. Ariya, 29, is known as "May" and joined the LPGA two years after her sister. A 12-time winner on the LPGA, Ariya became the first Thai player, male or female, to win a major championship and rise to No. 1 in the world. Ariya won the 2016 Women's British Open and 2018 U.S. Women's Open. Jessica and Nelly Korda Nelly Korda points to older sister Jessica as a major inspiration to her decorated LPGA career. The longtime No. 1 is now a 15-time winner on tour and a two-time major champion. At 27, Nelly is five years younger than Jessica, who is currently on maternity leave. Jessica won six times on the LPGA between 2012 and 2021 and is eyeing a 2026 return to the tour. Earlier this year, Jessica worked as an on-course reporter for coverage of the Amundi Evian Championship, following Nelly's group.

Milwaukee's recent streak calls to mind the Brewers' 1987 season, which was quite a roller coaster
The Milwaukee Brewers had been the talk of baseball recently because of their 14-game winning streak. That run also gives us a chance to appreciate a particularly unusual big league season — the Brewers' super streaky run through 1987. It was those '87 Brewers who won their first 13 games of the season, triggering the same free burger promotion by a local chain that went into effect when this year's streak hit 12. That 13-0 start — which included Juan Nieves throwing the first no-hitter in team history in win No. 9 — stood as the franchise's longest winning streak in a season until this year's Brewers surpassed the feat. Milwaukee was 20-3 in 1987 before crashing back to earth with alarming quickness. May barely had begun when the team lost 12 in a row. The Brewers snuck in another losing streak of six games before the month was over — only to follow with an immediate six-game winning streak. It wasn't just team streaks that made that season notable in Milwaukee. Hall of Famer Paul Molitor produced a 39-game hitting streak that year, a run that hasn't been matched since. By the time the season was over, Milwaukee was 91-71, finishing third in the AL East in an era when you had to win your division to make the playoffs. With Molitor and Robin Yount leading the way — plus a few terrific seasons on the mound by Teddy Higuera — the Brewers of the 1980s never totally lived up to their potential after winning the American League pennant in 1982. In 1983, they went 87-75, which was good for only fifth place in their seven-team division. Nowadays Milwaukee is in the NL Central, and 87 wins is often good enough for at least a wild card. Of course, this year's team can set its sights much higher. Even after their winning streak was snapped, the Brewers are 33 games over .500. They need to go just 19-20 the rest of the way to set a franchise record with 97 victories. Trivia time The final out of Nieves' no-hitter came on a spectacular play involving a pair Hall of Famers. Who were they? Line of the week In just his second week in the big leagues, Miami's Jakob Marsee matched a franchise record with seven RBIs in a 13-4 rout of Cleveland. Marsee hit a three-run homer, a two-run homer and a two-run double. Marsee, who made his debut Aug. 1, has 12 extra-base hits in his first 53 at-bats. Comeback of the week Arizona was down by two with two outs and nobody on in the top of the ninth — a 1.1% win probability according to Baseball Savant. James McCann hit a solo homer, and after a hit batter and a walk, Ketel Marte's three-run homer lifted the Diamondbacks to a 6-4 win over Texas. That was the second straight day Marte put his team ahead with a ninth-inning homer. Honorable mention: Milwaukee's 13th straight win came when the Brewers trailed Cincinnati 8-1 after two innings. They had it tied by the end of the fourth and eventually won 10-8. Trivia answer Baltimore's Eddie Murray hit a flyball to right-center field, and Yount saved the no-hitter with a diving catch for the final out.
