JTB, Saudi delegation talk tourism cooperation
AMMAN — The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) on Sunday received a delegation of representatives from Saudi travel agencies, as part of an exploratory tour organised in cooperation with the Royal Jordanian Airline (RJ).
The tour is part of the JTB's ongoing efforts to enhance tourism cooperation with Gulf markets, which featured field visits to a number of tourist destinations across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
JTB Director General Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat said that the JTB views the Saudi market as a 'strategic and crucial' partner for the Jordanian tourism sector.
Through these introductory visits, he noted that the board seeks to enhance relations with partners in Saudi Arabia and highlight Jordan's "unique" tourist experiences.
Arabiyat added: "Such tours, organised in cooperation with RJ, contributes to boosting the two countries' tourist ties and open the way for customised travel programmes that align with aspirations of Gulf tourists, which enhances chances of attracting more visitors in the coming seasons."
The tour aimed to introduce the Saudi delegation to Jordan's diverse tourist assets, mainly its "unique" archaeological sites and natural landscapes, as well as "picturesque and authentic" hospitality experiences, Petra added.
On the sidelines of the visit, the board held a workshop for representatives of Saudi travel offices and their Jordanian tourism sector counterparts to discuss opportunities for direct cooperation and open up "strategic" partnerships that serve aspirations of the Gulf tourism market.
This initiative comes within the framework of JTB strategy to enhance Jordan's presence in the Gulf market, especially in Saudi Arabia, which is "one of the key target" destinations, given its size and "positive" impact on the national tourism sector, the board pointed out.

536,000 Customs Declarations Processed in the First Half of This Year Customs clearance and freight forwarding companies operating in Jordan processed 536,000 customs declarations during the first half of this year, compared to 445,000 in the same period last year, covering export, import, transit, and re-export transactions. اضافة اعلان The Omari Customs Center, which connects the Kingdom with Saudi Arabia, recorded the highest number of processed declarations at 130,887, followed by Aqaba with 95,493, Queen Alia International Airport with 86,747, Amman with 45,165, and Jaber crossing with Syria with 25,867. President of the Jordan Customs Clearance and Freight Forwarding Association, Dr. Dheifallah Abu Aqoula, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that clearance companies at all customs centers are witnessing significant activity, driven by cargo movements both into the local market and through transit and re-export operations. He noted that since the start of the year, there has been a surge in operations, prompting all 100 clearance companies at the Jaber Border Center to reopen fully and restore their workforce, working around the clock to complete customs declarations and expedite the flow of goods through the crossing. Abu Aqoula highlighted that the reopening of trade with Syria has revitalized the trucking sector, especially after the Kingdom eased restrictions and reduced fees on trucks and goods. He confirmed that there is an active flow of Jordanian exports to Syria, particularly construction materials. According to Abu Aqoula, 152,528 trucks crossed the Jaber Border Center in the first half of this year—whether loaded or empty inbound, loaded or empty outbound, or in transit—compared to 32,134 trucks during the same period last year. At the Omari Border Center, the number of trucks crossing during the same period reached 221,518, compared to 197,003 in the first half of last year. Clearance companies also processed 39,648 customs declarations for vehicles transiting the Kingdom during the first half of this year, compared to 23,880 in the same period last year. The number of incoming containers through Aqaba Container Terminal increased to 235,492 in the first half of this year, up from 193,214 last year. Outgoing containers loaded with goods for export from Aqaba reached 52,214, compared to 48,303 during the same period in 2024. Abu Aqoula renewed his call to reopen the Ramtha Customs Center for passenger, traveler, and public transport bus traffic, in light of mounting pressure on the Jaber Customs Center and the growing cargo volume passing through it. He added that the association is considering organizing a business forum before the end of the year for clearance, transport, and logistics companies to develop a joint action plan that strengthens ties with neighboring countries, especially Syria, to facilitate the movement of goods across Jordan. He pointed out that transport activity is expected to flourish this year following the reopening of export routes to Syria, Europe, and Turkey through Syrian territory. Abu Aqoula also praised the substantial efforts and facilitation measures provided by various official bodies, including the Customs Department and security and regulatory agencies at the Jaber Border Center, to ensure smooth truck movements in both directions. He emphasized the strong coordination and partnership with the association, as well as with chambers of commerce and industry. He affirmed that companies in the sector are fully capable of keeping pace with this growth and are working with relevant authorities to ensure the smooth flow of trade and enhance Jordan's position as a regional logistics and trade hub. There are currently 504 licensed clearance companies in Jordan, registered with the Customs Department, with 2,070 branches across all customs centers, providing around 10,000 jobs for Jordanians. Ministry of Digital Economy Completes Development of Digital Skills Curricula for All School Grades - Jordan News
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship announced the completion of the development of new digital skills curricula for all school grades from first to twelfth, as part of the 'Youth, Technology, and Jobs' project. This initiative is led by the ministry in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the National Center for Curriculum Development, and in collaboration with a consortium of local companies headed by Alealam Al-Istithmar for Development and Technology. اضافة اعلان This achievement marks a significant step forward in advancing digital transformation in education and enhancing students' capacities to meet the demands of the future job market. The new curricula were designed under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education and the National Center for Curriculum Development. The development process was based on the National Framework for Computer and Digital Skills, aligned with global standards, international best practices, and comprehensive reviews of national documents and existing Jordanian curricula. It also drew on the digital labor market supply and demand gap study launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy in 2022. The process included the creation of integrated digital curricula for grades 7 through 12 and modern educational activity books for grades 1 through 6. These curricula were implemented in grades 7, 9, and 11 during the 2024/2025 academic year and are scheduled to be introduced in grades 8, 10, and 12 starting in the 2025/2026 academic year. The new curricula cover eight key areas that form the foundation of students' digital skill development: Computing Systems Impacts of Computing Networks and the Internet Algorithms Data Analysis Internet of Things (IoT) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cybersecurity The Ministry of Digital Economy emphasized that this milestone is a core part of implementing the Economic Modernization Vision and reflects its commitment to equipping students with essential digital skills for the future, while reinforcing Jordan's position as a regional hub for digital education. The ministry also noted that this development is part of broader efforts to support digital transformation in the educational environment. This includes the rollout and activation of Learning Management Systems (LMS) in schools, and efforts to enhance digital infrastructure so students can easily and effectively access digital learning tools, including devices and internet connectivity.
