Vaclav Cerny speaks on Rangers loan as Wolfsburg return confirmed
The Czech winger, a standout performer for Rangers during a challenging campaign, netted 18 goals and provided nine assists while on loan from Wolfsburg. However, the prospect of securing a permanent move always seemed unlikely due to the anticipated asking price set by the Bundesliga side and Cerny's wage demands. The 27-year-old has attracted interest from the English Premier League and other European clubs but returns to Germany for now. He is contracted to Wolfsburg for another two years and anticipates fulfilling this unless informed otherwise. Read more: European side consider Rangers coach as next manager and launch 'enquiry' Celtic and Rangers in talks with clubs as SFA bring in new co-operation system While on international duty, Cerny told Czech media: "I still have no idea where I will be playing next season. "The only thing I know is that I am returning to Wolfsburg because the loan was without an option. "I have a contract there for two more years." He added: "I am a regular player at Wolfsburg. "The club does not have a coach yet. "Of course, I have some preliminary agreements, or I know what is planned for me. "I would like to get the most out of a successful season." Cerny spoke of his time at Rangers with pride and fond memories, though he laments not having won any silverware. He said: "I managed to play a lot of games, almost 60 in one season, which is wonderful. "I had a wonderful relationship with the fans, I think I gave them a lot of nice experiences, just like they gave me. "I'm just sorry I couldn't win anything with Rangers. "But I will have very nice memories, they have a magical stadium. "Memories for my entire career and my entire life, as I wrote on my social networks. "I hope I managed to bring them what has always been my thing. "A lot of the goals and assists were at our home stadium. "I'm really happy that everything turned out like this. "It was nice to say goodbye."

Aberdeen defender Mats Knoester signs new four-year deal
Aberdeen defender Mats Knoester has signed a contract extension to keep him at Pittodrie until 2029. The Dutch central defender joined the Dons on a two-and-a-half year contract in January with an option for an extra year. But the 26 year-old's displays for Jimmy Thelin's side had led to him signing a new four-year deal with the Scottish Cup winners. Dons boss Thelin said: 'Mats has been an outstanding addition to our squad, both on and off the pitch, since his arrival at the start of the year. 'Securing his services for the next four years is a significant step for us as we continue to build a competitive team capable of competing on all fronts next season. 'We're pleased that Mats sees his long-term future here at Aberdeen.' Knoester has made a big impression in his first five months at Pittodrie and it is clear the Dons have had an equally positive impact on the player and his family. He said: 'The past few months have been very positive for me and since day one, my family and I have been made to feel very welcome. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. 'Extending my contract feels like the right thing to do. The club has fantastic infrastructure, passionate supporters, and a clear direction for the future. 'I'm looking forward to growing together and I am keen to play my part in the team's future success as we work hard to achieve our goals.'
