Kalabhavan Navas' heartbreaking words to wife Rehna while giving his last Valentine's gift go viral: ‘It will help you remember me after I'm gone'
A pall of gloom has descended on the Malayalam artistic society after the sudden passing away of actor-comedian Kalabhavan Navas. Renowned for his stage performances, Navas endeared himself to Malayalees with his exceptional mimicry acts and ability to create and pull off comedy instantaneously. After entering Kerala's cultural tapestry through the renowned Kalabhavan mimicry troupe, Navas eventually forayed into the world of cinema and played notable roles in several movies such as Junior Mandrake, Amma Ammayiamma, Meenakshi Kalyanam, Mattupetti Machan, Chandamama, My Dear Karadi, One Man Show, Vettam and Chattambinadu, winning the hearts of audiences. In the early 2000s, he tied the knot with fellow actor Rehna, known for her roles in Lelam, Dada Sahib, Karunyam, Thalolam and Kudumba Vaarthakal, among others. Following their love marriage, Rehna took a break from acting. However, she made a comeback recently with the movie Izha, wherein she and Navas played the lead roles as a married couple. Considering that their love for each other has remained unfaded even after two decades of marriage — which they have never shied away from discussing in interviews — the opportunity to collaborate in Izha must have felt like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the two actors. A post shared by Navas Kalabhavan (@navaskalabhavan) A post shared by Navas Kalabhavan (@navaskalabhavan) As fans are concerned about how Rehna will cope with the tragedy of losing Navas, a music video has grabbed netizens' attention. The song not only features Navas and Rehna in key roles, but it was also sung by Navas, adding to its significance. However, what has become an even more poignant memory is the words Navas spoke to Rehna after recording the song. 'Although he has sung many songs over the years, he never called me after any of those. But this time, he did. He phoned me after recording this and said, 'I sang this song with you in mind. So, I dedicate it to you. It will help you remember me even after I'm gone.' His words struck me deeply. I had been waiting for its release since then. A few days later, they unveiled it. The makers then approached us, expressing a desire to visualise the song and asking if we could act in it. That's how we ended up doing it,' Rehna shared during a conversation with Kaumudy Movies once. The music video, titled 'Marannuvo Sakhi', was released on the occasion of this year's Valentine's Day. While Navas's gesture of dedicating the song to Rehna was sweet, the fact that his words became reality so quickly has left fans heartbroken. Navas was found unconscious in a hotel room at Chottanikkara on the evening of August 1. Although he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, his life couldn't be saved. His demise, at 51, was reportedly confirmed owing to heart failure. He was last seen in the mystery comedy movie Detective Ujjwalan. Navas and Rehna have three children: Naharin, Rihan and Ridwan.

Kalabhavan Navas's Final Valentine Gift To Wife Makes Fans Emotional
1/6 Born in Vadakkencherry, Kerala, Navas Bakkar rose to fame as Kalabhavan Navas, following in the footsteps of his father, actor Abubakkar. His brother Niyaz also holds a special place in the hearts of Malayali audiences. At the time of his passing, Navas was just 51-years-old, and despite appearing to be in good health, he tragically suffered a fatal heart attack after completing a shoot. He was found unresponsive in his room. Though actress and dancer Rehana stepped away from acting after their marriage, she appeared on camera once more, as per Navas's heartfelt wish; a Valentine's Day gift in the final year of his life. The song, Marannuvo Sakhi, has since taken on a deeply emotional meaning. It continues to move listeners, a haunting reminder of love and farewell intertwined. In an earlier interview, Navas had made a sombre remark that he might not be with Rehana for the next Valentine's Day. After recording the song, he phoned her from the studio and said, 'I sang it with you in mind… You might remember it even after my time.' These words unsettled Rehana, who eagerly asked him daily whether the song had been released. The video for Marannuvo Sakhi was filmed on Valentine's Day and portrays a timeless love story across generations. The producers had asked the couple to feature in the video together, a request that saw both bursting into laughter on camera, capturing the easy joy they shared. Rehana later recalled how difficult it was for them to remain serious during filming. One memorable scene shows Navas cycling through a green field, with Rehana seated gracefully on the front of his bicycle, an image now etched in the memories of fans as a tribute to enduring love.
