Youth threatens suicide after being caught in theft bid at house, consoled to come out
In the Bajaria area, a thief allegedly broke into the home of a railway employee on Friday and attempted to steal gold and silver jewellery.
However, the accused was caught when the homeowner returned unexpectedly and raised an alarm upon seeing an unknown person in his home, walking towards the bathroom. Neighbours rushed to help and as the crowd gathered, the intruder began threatening to hang himself if he was caught.
In the suicide bid, his head hit the sofa corner, and he was injured.
The man and neighbours persuaded the accused to come out, assuring him that no harm would be done to him. The youth eventually opened the door, carrying a black bag. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain four gold bangles, a mangalsutra, silver anklets, toe rings, and other jewellery. Cops later arrested him.
Acting on the complaint, Bajaria police reached the spot and recovered stolen valuables worth over Rs 1 lakh from the accused.

According to police, the complainant, Rohit Kumar Silawat, hails from Narsinghpur and presently resides in Krishna Nagar. He is posted as a senior CCTC in Bhopal. Rohit said that he had gone to Hamidia Hospital around noon on Friday to pick up his sister. His wife, Archana Chhaya, a constable with the police department, left for duty shortly afterward, locking the house.
Upon returning home about an hour later with his sister, Rohit found the main door's lock open and the door bolted from inside. Growing suspicious, he peered through a window and spotted the youth. The accused has been identified as Kapil Chhawda, a resident of Barwah.

Daughter-in-law, 2 aides held for dumping woman in Ayodhya
Ayodhya : Three persons, including the daughter-in-law, were arrested on Thursday for dumping an elderly woman on the roadside in Ayodhya last week. The elderly woman was identified as 80-year-old Bhagwati, a resident of Kotwali Nagar in Gonda district. She later died during treatment at Rajarshi Dashrath Medical College. Ayodhya SSP Gaurav Grover said Bhagwati, who was battling cancer, was dumped by her daughter-in-law Jaya Singh alias Neha Singh (48), her friend Sushma (40), and e-rickshaw driver Premjeet Tiwari (32). The trio, who was detained on Wednesday night, was formally arrested on Thursday. They were booked under BNS section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and sent to jail. Ayodhya SSP announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for the police team that cracked the case. During questioning, Jaya admitted that her mother-in-law was suffering from cancer and she, along with Sushma, decided to abandon her to avoid the burden of treatment. A senior police officer privy to the probe said that Jaya's husband, Raju Singh, is a drunkard and jobless. The family was dependent on Jaya's income, who worked as a cook in households. "For the last three months, with Bhagwati's medical bills soaring, Jaya decided to abandon her," said a lady police officer who interrogated her. Bhagwati was dumped on the roadside on July 23 night. Passersby found her unconscious the next morning and informed the police, who rushed her to hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed during treatment. Ayodhya police had form four teams to identify the woman and those who dumped her. Police used social media, posters, and pamphlets across nearby districts in the identification process. IG, Ayodhya range, Praveen Kumar, who supervised and monitored the case, called the incident "a grave case of abandonment and cruelty within the family".

Punjab Police busts illegal opioid supply network; 6 arrested
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Chandigarh, Jul 31 (PTI) Punjab Police on Thursday said it has unearthed an illegal opioid supply network with the arrest of six persons and seized Tramadol tablets from their possession. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Amritsar Police unearthed the Tramadol supply chain, which originated from a small recovery of 35 tablets in Amritsar and led to a manufacturing unit in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The breakthrough came following the arrest of a local peddler, Ravinder Singh alias Nikka, in Amritsar. Probing backward and forward linkages, police seized 74,465 Tramadol tablets, 50 Alprazolam tablets, 325 kg of raw material used for manufacturing Tramadol, and Rs 7.69 lakh in cash within just 15 days. Yadav said based on sequential disclosures and raids, six arrests were made, which included chemists, distributors, and the plant head of Lucent Biotech Limited. Hari Kishore, plant manager of Lucent Biotech, Roorkee, Bikram, owner-cum-partner of Recall Lifesciences, Roorkee, Manish Kumar Arora, Pooran Jatav, and Kulwinder Singh alias Kinda, a medical store owner at Kathu Nangal in Amritsar district, were among the arrested persons. 'The seized strips bore 'government supply only — not for sale' tag, raising serious concerns about illegal diversion of medical stock," the DGP said. Sharing more details, Amritsar Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said a joint team of Amritsar Police and drug inspectors raided some pharma units in Roorkee, seizing 4,130 unlabelled Tramadol tablets and 325 kg of unregistered raw material. This was in addition to the earlier recovery of more than 70,000 tablets and Rs 7.69 lakh in cash, he said. Bhullar said during interrogation, Hari Kishore admitted to printing 'government supply only — not for sale' tags on the strips of 'TRAKEM-100' Tramadol tablet strips at the manufacturing unit. The accused also admitted that Tramadol tablets manufactured for another legal firm were sold illegally to Recall Lifesciences, Bhullar said. More persons involved in the racket have been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
