Maryam orders launch of innovative projects to promote education
She said: 'School on Wheels will provide children in remote and difficult areas with the jewel of education. It will be built in an electric rickshaw; solar panels will be installed on the roof of rickshaw.' Teachers in 'School on Wheels' will install folding chairs under an umbrella-like canopy in a street, neighbourhood or town. Books will also be provided to children studying in School on Wheels.
The Chief Minister said: 'School on Wheels will also have painting equipment for the interest of young children. Various educational toys will also be kept in 'School on Wheels' for the interest of young children.' She gave in-principle approval for the School on Wheels School Education.
The School Education Department will also launch a 'Library on Wheels' project for children, which will go to different areas and provide opportunities for children to read books. Through 'Library on Wheels', children will also be provided with books other than the curriculum. It will be set up in a minivan decorated with cartoons. 'Library on Wheels' can be stationed in any field, ground or open space.'
Maryam Nawaz Sharif reiterated: 'If you read, you will grow.' She added a mobile library project will also be launched. Chairs and tables will be available for children to sit in the mobile library located inside a latest bus. In addition to Urdu, English and science books, magazines will also be kept in the mobile library.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat gave a detailed briefing about School on Wheels, Library on Wheels and other projects.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday they have brought record initiatives for farmers in a short period of time. 'We have proven our commitment to the welfare of farmers by taking practical and historic steps,' the CM said while witnessing signing of an MoU between Agriculture Department and GCI for the management of Model Agriculture Malls of Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha and Sahiwal.' She said, 'Development of farmers is Pakistan's development. The farmers were, are and will remain with their brothers.' She added, 'Farmers will get one-stop solution in the Model Agriculture Malls. All four Model Agriculture Malls will become functional in 45 days.' The Chief Minister said, 'Agricultural inputs, loans and other services will be provided to the farmers at Model Agriculture Malls. Modern agricultural machinery and tractor services will be available at Model Agriculture Farm.' She underscored, 'Latest agricultural machinery will also be provided on rent to promote mechanized farming. Drone spray services will also be available to farmers. In 10 more districts, Model Agriculture Malls will be built for the convenience of farmers.' The Chief Minister was briefed by the authorities concerned, 'On model agriculture farm, it will be possible to solve problems of farmers and meet their needs under one roof.' August 5 protest: Verdict reserved on bail pleas of 7 female PTI workers
ISLAMABAD: A local court on Thursday reserved its verdict on the bail applications of seven female workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who were arrested in connection with the party's protest held on August 5. Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi reserved the judgment after hearing arguments on multiple bail pleas filed on behalf of the detained women, currently on judicial remand. The case was registered at Lohi Bher police station following the August 5 protest. During the hearing, multiple lawyers associated with PTI submitted separate bail applications for the same individuals, leading to confusion and prompting a strong reaction from the judge. The judge expressed displeasure over the submission of multiple bail pleas, questioning the coordination among the lawyers. 'What kind of mess have you people created?' she remarked. 'I will mention everyone's name in the order,' she added. Advocate Ali Bukhari, one of the lawyers, argued that he was representing the women as they belonged to his constituency. He emphasised that the women, many of whom are elderly, were not found in possession of any incriminating items. 'All the sections mentioned in the FIR are bailable,' Bukhari argued. The defence maintained that the charges in the case did not warrant continued detention. Police did not produce the record of the case during the hearing. After hearing the arguments from all parties, the judge reserved the verdict on the bail applications and adjourned the hearing till today (Friday). The same court on Wednesday last, over nine PTI workers to the police on three-day physical remand and sent seven female workers to jail in the same case. The defence counsel, while arguing before the court, said that it is a politically motivated case and merited a discharge instead. Nothing has been recovered from the arrested PTI workers, he said, adding that they were peacefully standing on an open road, neither did they block the road nor resort to any violence. Maryam says US Pakistan's ‘reliable' economic partner
LAHORE: 'Pak-US relations are based on reliable, stable and far-reaching partnership spanning over several decades,' said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her meeting with the new US Consul General in Lahore, H.E Stetson Sanders. In the meeting, issues related to mutual interest, trade relations, energy, technology, agriculture and educational exchanges came under discussion. The CM added, 'US is Pakistan's largest trading partner and a reliable economic partner, Pakistani-American community is a strong link in people-to-people ties between the two countries.' She appreciated US President Donald Trump's efforts to mediate between Pakistan and India during the recent armed conflict between the two countries. The Chief Minister welcomed H.E Stetson Sanders on his arrival in Lahore, and congratulated him on assuming the post of Consul General. She said, 'Government of Punjab is prioritizing the development of water-efficient farming, precision agriculture and cold chain infrastructure, American agricultural technology companies can take advantage of numerous investment opportunities in this regard.' Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, 'A new electric train equipped with the latest technology is being introduced in Punjab. Public-sector housing will be completed in a short period of few months under 'Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar' Programme.' She said, 'Appointment of H.E Stetson Sanders has come at a time when positive progress is being seen in Pakistan-US relations. People-to-people contacts, trade cooperation and shared interests have further strengthened Pak-US partnership.' She added, 'Increase in trade volume between Pakistan and US in 2024 is a welcome development.' The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had also met US Congressional Pakistan Caucus in April 2025. She said, 'More than 20,000 IT graduates are graduating from Punjab every year. Punjab is the agricultural backbone of Pakistan.' She added, 'Pakistan and United States are an example of a tested, trusted and sustainable partnership.'
