Bihar double murder: 2 youths shot dead near temple in Patna
Two youths were shot dead near a temple in Bikram police station area of Paliganj subdivision of Patna district early Monday morning.
An Apache motorcycle and 12 bullet shells were recovered from the spot.
According to police, the double murder took place near Guerrilla Sthan on Manjhauli-Singhara Road. Locals informed police via Dial 112, after which a team reached the scene and took custody of the bodies.
Police said both youths were shot at close range, likely while they were at the temple, which led to instant death. The mobile phone found in one victim's pocket helped identify him as a resident of Baghakol in Bikram block. According to the police, efforts were taken to confirm the identity of the second youth.
Avkash Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, said, "The bodies of two persons were recovered on the side of Manjhauli-Singhara road under Bikram police station. Prima facie, both persons appear to have been shot dead. Forensic evidence has been collected by the police with the help of the FSL team, and the incident is being investigated with the help of the dog squad team."
"A post-mortem of the dead body is being done. A dozen shells have been recovered from the spot. Raids are being conducted to identify the criminals involved in the incident and arrest them," he added.
Soon after the news spread, the family members of the victims became enraged. They surrounded the Bikram police station, blocked the main road at the square, and created a ruckus for two hours, demanding immediate arrests and questioning police inaction.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avkash Kumar, along with the City SP, DSP, and in-charges of over a dozen police stations, reached the spot and are investigating the incident.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and dog squad collected evidence from the scene. Police said raids were ongoing and assured that the accused would be arrested soon. The post-mortem was being conducted, and more details were expected as the investigation progressed.

2 arrested for taking ₹24 lakh from youngster promising selection in IPL team
Belagavi police arrested two persons from Uttar Pradesh on the charge of defrauding a young cricketer from Belagavi. Susanjan and Diwakar, both around 25, were arrested from their hometown in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This followed a long and detailed investigation by the Belagavi police. They face charges of collecting over ₹24 lakh from the family of Rakesh Yadure of Chinchani near Chikkodi. They had lied to the young sportsperson's family that they would get him selected to the Rajasthan Royals IPL cricket team. The boy comes from a humble background. His father, a security guard, took loans to pay the conmen. Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar S. Guled told reporters in Belagavi on June 12 that Susanjan had previously cheated two others using a similar modus operandi, while Diwakar appeared to be a first-time offender. Mr. Yadure, 19, had excelled in a cricket match in Hyderabad in May 2024. He posted photos and videos of the match on Instagram. The fraudsters, claiming to be selectors from the IPL team, sent him friend requests, and said he was under consideration. In December 2024, Mr. Yadure received a message claiming he had been shortlisted for the IPL team. The message included a link to a 'registration form' and requested an initial payment of ₹2,000. Over the next few months — between December 22, 2024, and April 19, 2025 — Mr. Yadure's father made multiple payments totalling ₹23.53 lakh. The duo promised fees ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹8 lakh per match. The cricketer's family filed a complaint with the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station on May 17 this year. Dr. Guled advised people, especially the youth, to be cautious of such scams. 'We urge citizens, especially youngsters, not to fall for online claims of sports selection, jobs, or cash rewards. Always verify such claims,' he said.

Burning fuel, intense heat left no chance to save anyone: Amit Shah
Gandhinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah , who rushed to Ahmedabad on hearing the news of the plane crash, said that the aircraft carried about 1.25 lakh litres of fuel, and the temperature had increased to an extent where there was no chance of saving lives. Stating that there was one survivor in the crash whom he met at the hospital, Shah said that authorities will provide the final death toll after conducting DNA sampling. He said that the aviation department began an investigation into the plane crash, and the Union civil aviation minister issued instructions to complete the inquiry at the earliest. Speaking to reporters after visiting the crash site and meeting the injured at the hospital, Shah condoled the death of the plane crash victims. "The death toll will be known after the DNA sampling is completed. Of the 242 persons on board the plane, there is one survivor. The plane had 1.25 lakh litres of fuel, and the temperature increased to such a level that there was no chance of saving lives. The state govt has done a commendable job in responding to the plane crash," Shah said. He said that all the bodies had been recovered from the crash site, and the task of collecting DNA samples is ongoing. The victims' relatives who are abroad have also been informed about the incident and their DNA samples will be collected as soon as they reach here. "About 1,000 DNA tests will have to be conducted. Gujarat has the facility for these tests. The mortal remains of victims will be handed over to relatives after DNA sampling," Shah said. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel, who was in Bardoli for an official function, rushed back to Ahmedabad after the air tragedy and supervised relief and rescue operations at the crash site.
