Kittie are commemorating the 25th anniversary of their debut album Spit with an EP of re-recorded songs, out September 19th on Sumerian Records.
Titled Spit XXV, the four-song release sees the metal band revisiting highlight tracks from its first album alongside original producer Garth Richardson. The selections include 'Spit,' 'Do You Think I'm a Whore?,' 'Brackish,' and 'Charlotte,' with the title track available to stream now.
While it's recognizably the same song, the Canadian quartet have given it a new coat of paint, updating the sonics and fidelity to 2025 standards. It's closer to the brutal sound of post-reunion Kittie, as heard on the comeback LP Fire that was released last year.
'It's hard to believe that 25 years after its release, and almost 30 years since Kittie began, people are still talking about Spit,' remarked singer-guitarist Morgan Lander in a press release. 'There is something truly unexplainable in why our debut album is still resonating with people, finding a new audience and has had such a lasting impact on so many.'
She continued: 'Reimagining some of these classic songs for the 25th anniversary of Spit was a lot of fun and a true testament to their longevity. It reveals just how relevant in the musical landscape they still are today. We were honoured to work with Garth again where it all began after more than two decades, and doing so was a cool way to pay homage to the past while updating these songs with a modern sound, bringing them into the future.'
Editor's PickAlthough no details were given regarding a physical release, fans can pre-save the Spit XXV EP via digital outlets at this location.
Kittie will be playing the Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals this fall, and will perform on board the 2026 ShipRocked cruise in January.

Pete Townshend Plans 'One-Man Shows,' Has '140 Tracks Ready to Go' After The Who's Farewell Tour Wraps

The post Pete Townshend Plans 'One-Man Shows,' Has '140 Tracks Ready to Go' After The Who's Farewell Tour Wraps appeared first on Consequence. Pete Townshend has opened up about his plans after The Who's farewell tour wraps up in September. In a new interview with Billboard, the 80-year-old guitarist-singer said he's got 'another five years' left in show business and intends to perform 'one-man shows' following The Who's final outing. Get The Who Farewell Tour Tickets Here 'I've got songs in all kinds of development, 140 tracks ready to go,' he said, adding that he also plans to finish his long-gestating solo album, The Age of Anxiety, which he began in 2007, and experiment with the material on the road while touring in a solo context. As for The Who, Townshend believes the final gig in Las Vegas on September 28th is the end of the line. 'We reserve the right to pop up again,' he said. 'But I think one thing is very clear: that at our age, we will not.' Still, Townshend said he'll work with singer Roger Daltrey again while admitting that he doesn't communicate with the singer 'very well.' 'Roger and I certainly [will] work together for charity and possibly for special projects,' Townshend said. 'Together we represent all aspects of The Who legacy. You know, I'm the songwriter and creator, but Roger's been the driving force, meaning keeping The Who band and his brand on track. Even with his solo work, we'll continue to work together, even if we rarely socialize.' Elsewhere in the interview, Townshend offered his side of the story regarding the beef between Daltrey and drummer Zak Starkey, which led to the latter's removal from the band. According to Townshend, Daltrey got frustrated during a performance of 'The Song Is Over' during a show at the Royal Albert Hall back in April and expressed his disapproval to his sound engineer. Meanwhile, Starkey thought Daltrey's ire was directed at him and took to Instagram to put Daltrey on blast after the gig. Townshend's account matches up with Daltrey's version of events. Regarding Starkey's removal, Townshend said that Daltrey was upset that the drummer 'jumped straight into Instagram and started to mouth off and defend his position in a cheeky, chatty manner, which belies the seriousness of what actually happened.' Pete continued: 'It looked like he was raging at Zak, but that's not the case. It became a story among fans, and it looked like Roger made a mistake, but something technical went wrong. [Zak's] handling of it, was, I suppose, light-hearted, but you know Roger.' Meanwhile, The Who's farewell tour is underway, with the next gig on Thursday (August 21st) in Philadelphia. Motorsports community mourns passing of Humpy Wheeler

Humpy Wheeler, whose innovative ideas as the longtime president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway revolutionized the fan experience and racing, passed away Wednesday. He was 86. Bruton Smith hired Wheeler in 1975 to oversee Charlotte Motor Speedway and Wheeler held that position until his retirement in 2008. During that time, he oversaw the lighting of the track so it could host the 1992 All-Star Race at night, a trend other tracks followed. He oversaw legendary pre-race shows from military exercises to daredevil shows and Robosaurus. He also was a confidant to many drivers and encouraged them to show more personality to better connect with fans. In 2007, Wheeler came up with a list to make the racing better then. The list included awarding more points for victories, awarding more points for leading laps, put more money into race purses and add a halftime break to races "People don't buy a ticket just to see the last 10 laps of the race, they buy a ticket to see the whole race,'' he told the (Greensboro, N.C.) News and Record in 2007. Wheeler's ideas may not have all been embraced by the sport, but they helped push NASCAR forward at the time. NASCAR CEO Jim France said in a statement: 'Humpy Wheeler was a visionary whose name became synonymous with promotion and innovation in our sport. During his decades leading Charlotte Motor Speedway, Humpy transformed the fan experience through his creativity, bold ideas and tireless passion. His efforts helped expand NASCAR's national footprint, cement Charlotte as a must-visit racing and entertainment complex and recently earned him the NASCAR Hall of Fame's prestigious Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR. "On behalf of NASCAR and the France family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Wheeler family and all who were touched by his remarkable life and legacy.' Others in the sport shared their memories of Wheeler.
