GRAND TRAVERSE (4.00 Kempton, nap)
Has won two of this past three including over this course and distance last time. That was an impressive effort for this handicap grade as he picked up strongly to score with plenty left in the tank. He's been turned out six days later by Archie Watson under a 5lb penalty that won't put the brakes on.
ANGEL ON HIGH (3.15 Brighton, nb)
Got the job done nicely at Leicester last time and looks capable of following up for trainer Adrian Wintle. This sort of trip is ideal on quick ground and he's got winning form at Brighton which can catch some horses out. He'll go close.
DISTINCTION (4.30 Kempton, treble)
Was a game winner at Beverley last time and goes well on the all-weather. Billy Loughnane is a good booking and a 3lb rise looks more than fair.
JEDDAAL (6.00 Chepstow, Lucky 15)
He's a certain future winner judged on his promising second at Beverley last time when he took a big step forward. There's more to come.

Willie Mullins and son Patrick humbled by 17-year-old jockey who wins thousands inflicting shock defeat on first ride

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WILLIE MULLINS and son Patrick were humbled by an unknown 17-year-old jockey who won thousands on his first ever ride - then said he was going to retire. School pupil Jamie Martin turned over Mullins' 2-5 hotshot Highland Realm in a Tramore bumper last Friday. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 They've won the Grand National together - but Willie Mullins and son Patrick were humbled by an unknown 17-year-old jockey Credit: PA 2 Jamie Martin couldn't believe he had got the better of racing's most powerful trainer Mullins had won the race for the past six years and his Grand National-winning son was looking to make it a magnificent seven. But Martin, who was on 10-1 Alaskan View, had other ideas. Trained by his granddad, owned by his brother - who didn't want him in the saddle - and led up his dad, it was a true family affair. And it ended up being worth a few bob too. Alaskan View was always doing enough to win and saw off the Mullins runner by half a length, landing a £5,000 cheque in the process. Rachael Blackmore and Frankie Dettori were among those liking the video of Jamie's interview afterwards. The amateur jockey said he would retire after making it one win from one ride. But his composure in the saddle suggested a big career could be ahead. In a brilliant clip, he said: "I'm just so grateful to have the likes of my father and grandfather to give me the opportunity. "My brother didn't want me on the horse, but my Dad had his way. "I thought I was dreaming for a second. "I was talking to a few of the lads inside and I thought I was going to be making the running, but there was a bit of competition for the lead. "I was tanking along so I let Alaskan View go off in front. "She travelled along beautifully and heard Patrick coming near, but my horse lengthened out unreal. "I thought I was going to fall off near the end but I made it! "I looked across and said to Patrick 'Did I win or not?' "The plan was if I won this I'd retire with a 100 per cent strike rate but I think I'll have to keep on going!" Kobbie Mainoo message sent to Ruben Amorim as he receives reminder amid £60m transfer link

Ruben Amorim has been urged to put more trust in Kobbie Mainoo by Rio Ferdinand despite his admiration for Adam Wharton, who has been linked with Manchester United Rio Ferdinand has called on Ruben Amorim to place his trust in Kobbie Mainoo despite his respect for Adam Wharton. Manchester United could strengthen their midfield before the transfer deadline and have been linked with Crystal Palace's Wharton and Brighton's Carlos Belaba this summer. ‌ It's understood that Wharton would cost at least £60m while Brighton are demanding more than £100m for Belaba. Nevertheless, according to Ferdinand, United also possess the solution in the form of Mainoo, who remained on the bench during Sunday's home loss to Arsenal. ‌ The ex-United defender is a massive admirer of Wharton but reckons the club can save cash by maximising the potential of Mainoo, who was utilised in various roles last season. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "He [Wharton] would have been one of the midfielders on my hitlist. Yes, we've been talking about Belaba; he's been the hot topic for the last month or so. ‌ "Before that, Adam Wharton was one of the guys. Listen, he's the nearest to a Michael Carrick type. He's a controller who plays forward from that deeper line position. "I watched him against a couple of the bigger teams like Liverpool and Man City, and he was unfazed. He's ready for a big occasion and enjoys pressure. I love him, I think he's a fantastic footballer. "But we've got Kobbie Mainoo. He can do that role, he can control a game and play deep. Playing two central midfielders, Kobbie Mainoo can play that role, given the opportunity. You can play through someone like him, you can get out of tight situations and open the game up. "He might just have to be a patient young man at the moment, for the team to find its way, for the manager to then put the trust in him to go and play. If it was me, if I was playing two in the midfield, Kobbie Mainoo would be one of my two. "I think he's a super talent who can handle the ball as well as anyone at Man United at present. I would give him that responsibility." ‌ After a stunning breakthrough 2023/24 season, when he shone for both United and England, Mainoo suffered an injury-hit campaign. Speaking earlier this year, Amorim revealed he would seek to establish a consistent role for Mainoo. The United boss explained: "We are really happy to have more options and an option like Kobbie Mainoo, with the quality that he has - he has played as a 6, as an 8 and as a 10 - we are really pleased to have Kobbie Mainoo but we have to be careful, we need Kobbie Mainoo fit and fresh. ‌ "In England, sometimes they play with three defenders also, was more or less the same position. So he can play, we need to help him and find a little bit like Casemiro, [who] is playing better because we understand better the way Casemiro can play. "And I think we can do that with Kobbie because he has a lot of qualities. He is really good on the ball but also near the opponent's box. We will try to manage all that and find the right space for a player like Kobbie."
