Melitopol native sentenced to 27 years in Russian prison for attempting to poison military graduates
Ukrainian national Yehor Semenov has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for his involvement in the "poisoning" of graduates from the Armavir Higher Military Aviation School. The ruling has been handed down by the Southern District Military Court in Russia.

Details: Russian investigators claimed that Semenov had intended to cooperate with Ukrainian security services as early as February 2023. He allegedly recorded a video message in Ukrainian expressing his intent to collaborate with Ukraine's Security Service and Armed Forces, and was later tasked with organising the poisoning of Russian military personnel.
The target was graduates of the Armavir Air Defence School, who were planning a banquet in October 2023. According to the prosecution, Semenov was tasked with delivering alcoholic beverages and a cake laced with a poisonous substance to the event. He allegedly studied the restaurant's layout, noting the positions of windows, tables and CCTV cameras. He also ordered the cake and purchased the toxic substances.
Semenov supposedly delivered the alcohol and cake to the restaurant by courier on 20 October. The Russian graduates found the alcohol and cake suspicious and did not consume them.
The defendant was detained on 21 October 2023. The court found him guilty under charges of terrorism and high treason (Article 205.3(a) and Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Background: In October 2023, it was reported that Yehor Semenov, a native of the Ukrainian city of Melitopol, had been detained for 15 days in Armavir, Russia's Krasnodar Krai, under an administrative charge of disorderly conduct. Russian Telegram channel Baza reported that Semenov had been apprehended in Stavropol while attempting to fly to Moscow.

Pennsylvania men accused in scheme that swiped $80M in U.S. Treasury checks
(WHTM) — Four Pennsylvania men are facing charges in connection with the theft of over $80 million in U.S. Treasury checks. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced Wednesday charges against four men from the Philadelphia area: Tauheed Tucker, 23, and Saahir Irby, 27, both of Philadelphia; Cory Scott, 25, of Ardmore; and Alexander Telewoda, 25, of Clifton Heights. The men are facing felony conspiracy to steal government funds, theft of government funds, and mail theft charges. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Irby and Tucker were working as mail processing clerks for the U.S. Postal Service between June 2023 and Sept. 2024. They are accused of intercepting and swiping thousands of envelopes containing U.S. Treasury checks from mail sorting machines at the USPS Philadelphia processing center. The men then allegedly sold them to Scott and Telewoda, who then resold the checks on Telegram. They were mailed to buyers across the country who attempted to cash them. In total, $80 million in checks were allegedly stolen, $11 million of which were cashed. 12 injured in Russian drone attack on Kharkiv, day after fatal drone bombardment
Editor's note: This is a developing story and is being updated. Twelve are injured, including 4 children, as a result of a Russian drone attack on Kharkiv overnight on June 12. Russia carried out 11 strikes on the city, a 12th drone strike did not detonate, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said in a post to Telegram. "Residential areas, educational institutions, kindergartens, and infrastructure were hit by shelling. Dozens of cars were damaged, windows in schools and houses were broken," he said. Just a day prior, on June 11, a Russian mass drone attack on Kharkiv killed three people and injured at least 64 others, including nine children. "An unexploded UAV was discovered on the roof of a warehouse," regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said. Several fires broke out throughout the city as a result of the Russian drone attack. "Civilian cars caught fire after a (drone) hit a residential high-rise building. The facade of the high-rise building was also damaged," Syniehubov reported. The grounds of an educational institution were hit in the Shevchenkivskyi district, causing a fire to break out, Syniehubov said. Russia regularly strikes civilian infrastructure as it continues to wage its war against Ukraine. On June 10, Russia conducted drone and missile attacks on Kyiv and Odesa.
