Penn State football announces several kickoff times, White Out opponent for 2025
Time to mark the calendars.
Penn State football officially announced the kickoff times for several games, as well as revealing this year's White Out opponent.
The Nittany Lions will begin the season by hosting Nevada on Aug. 30, which will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on CBS, marking the first-ever matchup between the two.
The following week, on Sept. 6, they'll host FIU at noon, broadcast on Big Ten Network. It'll be the second contest between the two universities, with the first being a 59-0 Penn State victory in 2007.
Closing out the nonconference slate, Penn State will host Villanova at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 13, set to appear of FS1. It'll be the teams' first meeting on the gridiron since Penn State won 38-17 in 2021. The Nittany Lions hold a 6-3-1 all-time record against the Wildcats.
Following a bye week, the Nittany Lions will open conference play by welcoming Oregon to Beaver Stadium in a rematch of last season's Big Ten championship. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast on NBC, and it'll serve as the team's annual White Out game. It'll be the Ducks' first appearance in the spectacle, in what's expected to be a top-10 matchup.
On Oct. 11, Penn State will welcome Northwestern to Happy Valley, a game which will kick off at either noon, 3:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. The network for the contest is still undetermined.
Additional kickoff times and network information will be revealed throughout the season.

ESPN Football Power Index predicts another losing season for Michigan State in 2025

ESPN Football Power Index predicts another losing season for Michigan State in 2025 The computers behind the ESPN Football Power Index (FPI) are expecting another rough year in East Lansing, Mich. in 2025. The preseason FPI ratings and rankings were released earlier this week, and its not particularly high on the Spartans. At this point in time, FPI has Michigan State ranked as the No. 59 team nationally -- which comes out to No. 15 out of 18 teams from the Big Ten. Among power four conferences (plus Notre Dame), Michigan State ranked No. 56 out of 68 teams. As far as how many games will the Spartans win this year, FPI is projecting it to again be a bowl-less season. FPI has predicted Michigan State to finish 5-7 in 2025, with a 42.4% chance to reach bowl eligibility. The projections from ESPN's FPI tool aren't all that surprising as these type of metrics aren't going to shed must positive light on Michigan State. However, I personally take FPI with a grain of salt as I'm not sure how truly accurate this tool is in today's modern world of college football where the transfer portal is so prevalent in roster construction. So keep that in mind when considering what FPI is projecting for the Spartans this fall. Michigan State comes into this season with three straight losing seasons, and looking to get back into the postseason for the first time in four years. The Spartans will open the 2025 season against Western Michigan on August 29 at Spartan Stadium. Notre Dame offers 4-star 2027 Pennsylvania wide receiver Matthew Gregory

When Ja'Juan Seider made the move from Penn State to Notre Dame as its running backs coach, it opened the doors to many players in the state of Pennsylvania. The connections helped the Irish, as on Wednesday, a new offer went out to a Keystone State prospect in 2027 wide receiver Matthew Gregory. The 6-foot, 1-inch and 170-pound prospect is currently listed as an athlete, but will most likely play on offense when he arrives on a college campus. Advertisement Gregory is ranked as the No. 106 overall player by the 247Sports Composite in his class, making him one of the nation's best. He has a solid offer list at this early moment, as Notre Dame joined teams like Florida State, Missouri, Wisconsin and the Nittany Lions. He had an impressive sophomore season, accounting for 1,100 all-purpose yards with 16 total touchdowns. On defense Gregory picked off six passes as well, earning first-team all-league honors. Speed is a big part of his game, as he's been clocked at 4.35 when running a 40-yard dash. The hope is that this offer from the Irish get Gregory to make a visit to South Bend in the near future, and if that does happen, Notre Dame could be putting themselves in a great position to land the top prospect.
