CAST ANNOUNCED For The New Zealand Premiere Of The West End Hit Peppa Pig's Fun Day Out LIVE!
An all-Australian cast has been confirmed for Peppa Pig's Fun Day Out LIVE! with Zoe Crisp (Avenue Q, We Will Rock You) cast as Peppa Pig in the upcoming tour this June/July school holidays.
The New Zealand premiere follows a smash hit season in London's West End, and is the first time Peppa Pig has graced New Zealand stages since 2018.
The rest of the multi-talented, infectiously fun cast includes Romy Juliette Glass (Legally Blonde; Universal Studios Singapore roles) as Daisy; Maddison Price (Queensland Pop Orchestra, QPAC's The Wizard of Oz in Concert) as Suzy Sheep; Jake Waterworth (Tigger in Disney's Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation) as Danny Dog.
Joining them are Zuleika Khan (PAW Patrol Live, Offspring, Please Like Me) as Mummy Pig and Miss Rabbit; Jacqui Dwyer (Disney's Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation) as George; with Daddy Pig played by Benjamin Richards (Heathers, Cry Baby).
Titular star Zoe Crisp remembers growing up watching the Peppa Pig TV show with her twin brother: 'My brother and I related very much to Peppa and George's sibling relationship. I was a tiny bit bossy and he didn't have a lot of words,' says Zoe.
A WAAPA graduate with a range of professional credits, Zoe recently toured with the National Theatre for Children, playing various characters with lots of silly voices (an evil cat, a dopey dog and plenty more!). In her free time, Zoe passionately supports causes to conserve our wildlife for future generations.
'Peppa Pig has captured hearts for so many years. The characters are so loved and iconic - I can't wait to bring the magic that is Peppa Pig to life on stage!' says Zoe.
New Zealand audiences are proving just how much they really adore Peppa Pig and her oinktastic adventures, with the tour adding extra shows for Auckland since the first extension was announced in March before Peppa Pig and Friends hit Wellington, Christchurch and finally, Hamilton.
Presented by TEG Life Like Touring and Fierylight, the stage show is based on the much-loved animated series. Peppa Pig is currently the #1 kids show on Nick Jr. and #2 on ABC Kids Australia, while the show's theme song received a whopping 165 million views in just six months of 2024.
Packed with fun, games and special new puppets, this new live show will see small audience members squealing with delight.

The galaxy of the Star Wars universe stretches to infinity
In a century long gone (the last one, that many of us still remember), the world of entertainment media experienced an era of beginnings. The Lord of the Rings was written, superheroes became a thing, Winnie-the-Pooh was invented and in 1977 Star Wars was released in theatres. Since then that movie has become a franchise whose value hovers somewhere between the total GDP of Slovenia and Belarus. A cool $70 billion. That's about half again more than Tunisia, which doubles for the planet Tatooine in the epic movies. Disney didn't pay nearly that much when they bought Star Wars from its creator George Lucas in 2012, but they have certainly made the most of it. Star Wars now has an abundance of TV series and new movies available on streaming service Disney Plus; there have been games and new books released, so much so that even diehard fans are beginning to ask if there is such thing as too much Star Wars. Today on The Detail film critic (and Star Wars fan) Kate Rodger talks about the past, present and future of the monolithic mega franchise and what it means for the wider world of entertainment. 'We're in the heyday of 'the franchise' and I think we're kind of desperate and gagging for original storytelling,' she says. 'Hollywood is desperate to continue making bank, and if they can bank on an audience that's already there, that's the whole point of a franchise.' The standard way of viewing our entertainment was already shifting away from the theatre and towards subscription model streaming services before Covid lockdowns accelerated the process. The latest of many waves of TV content from Disney's Star Wars is season two of Andor, a series prequel to the critically acclaimed Rogue One movie that many fans agree is one of the biggest positives to come from the Disney acquisition. Rodger agrees. 'The best writing of any Star Wars that's ever been put out, anywhere.' So it's clear that good things are still coming from the far-from-dead mega franchise. But is the sheer quantity of content from Star Wars and other large properties drowning out the smaller voices? In the 20th century, cinema was still finding its feet in many ways. Creators had a blank canvas and new things could make their way to the biggest of the big leagues. The big leagues however are fast becoming the only players on the board. So does the Star Wars machine get in the way of what could be the next Star Wars? 'Of course it does, it sucks the oxygen out of the marketplace,' says Rodger. 'I don't know what we can do about it, it's big business.' Let's hope that exploring the galaxy far, far away isn't blocking the view of the stories we have right here at home. Peppa Pig gets new baby sister

The animated show, which has told the story of Peppa, Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig and her little brother George for more than two decades, announced the pregnancy in February. "Daddy Pig has just shared these pictures with me of Peppa's brand new baby sister Evie, named after Mummy Pig's Aunt Evie, she was born at 5:34 am this morning," presenter Richard Arnold said during the Good Morning Britain television show. The gender of the baby was revealed in April when the chimneys of Battersea Power Station in London were lit up in pink to show Mummy Pig was expecting another girl. An hour-long special titled "Peppa Meets The Baby" will premiere on 30 May, as Peppa and George get ready to welcome their new sister. Evie is due to appear on screen in the series from autumn. A special set of stamps has been issued to mark the 20th anniversary of the series, featuring Peppa and her friends. The stamps include Peppa and George, Suzy Sheep, Danny Dog, Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, Grandpa and Granny Pig in the main set. The series, co-created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, first aired in 2004 on Channel 5. It has since been broadcast in more than 40 languages and is available in over 180 territories. -AFP
