This cooling neck fan may look silly, but it's a 'godsend' during summer heatwaves — it's on sale right now
Several Canadian cities have endured sweltering heatwaves this summer — Toronto is under its fifth heat warning of the year — and while the sky-high temperatures are great for beach days, they're far less enjoyable for day-to-day life. Excess heat can lead to dangerous heat stroke or heat exhaustion, so if you're spending time outside, it's important to stay hydrated and cool.
While staying in air-conditioned environments is your first line of defence, cooling gadgets like a portable neck fan can also come in handy. A popular option — the JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan — delivers air to the face and neck for 360-degree cooling and can be worn like a necklace for hands-free use. It's the perfect travel companion for summer trips (or for hot flashes), according to shoppers. Right now, Amazon Prime members can save 36 per cent on the viral neck fan and take it home for just $45. Not yet a member?
The details
This top-rated portable fan is winning over Amazon shoppers with its lightweight and versatile design, which conveniently sits around your neck for hands-free relief from the heat.
Since this bladeless design is both light and totally portable, it's an excellent choice for vacations, outdoor sports, yard work or just everyday use in hot weather.
This fan is equipped with a powerful and rechargeable battery, offering up to 16 hours of use. It features 78 ventilation holes that deliver air to the face and neck for 360-degree cooling, with a dust- and sweat-proof design.
It's available in five colours and has three speeds.
Tried & tested by Yahoo Canada
I was skeptical about the JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan, initially thinking it was silly-looking. However, when I arrived at the airport in Orlando, I had to quickly eat my words — just about as soon as we landed, I was whipping the fan out of my bag and onto my neck.
I was impressed by the fan's ability to blow air when in use, helping to provide some relief from the heat and humidity. The third and highest settings proved to be the most useful for me, earning this fan a spot on my list of everyday essentials when hitting the theme parks.
As temperatures soared past 35°C daily (not factoring in humidity), I found myself reaching for the neck fan on several occasions.
However, since I was using it at the highest setting, I did notice that the battery life didn't hold up as long as I'd hoped.
If you do plan to use this fan for yourself, I recommend learning from my mistakes and keeping a power bank and charging cable on hand to avoid the battery draining halfway through the day.

One reviewer raved that "this neck fan has been awesome" during menopause, while another called it "the best thing since sliced bread."
Many reviewers have noted that this fan's airflow at the back of the neck is not as strong as they'd hoped, but since it comes with a "lightweight" and "inconspicuous" design, shoppers say that it's worth the tradeoff.
The verdict
Even at its current Prime member sale price of $45, this portable fan may not be the most affordable version on the market, but its hands-free design and effective cooling make it a top pick ahead of hot spring and summer days.
With a quiet motor and bladeless design, shoppers say it cools you down and is helpful in various situations.
After using it myself, I'm glad I have the JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan to stay cool on hot days. However, I'll always be sure to have a charger on hand for backup.

As Strike Looms, Air Canada's Flight Attendants Reject Call for Arbitration
As thousands of air passengers in Canada and around the world scrambled to adjust travel plans ahead of a potential strike by Air Canada's flight attendants, the country's labor minister asked the workers' union if it was open to government arbitration to avert a walkout. Patty Hajdu, the minister, gave the union until noon Eastern time on Friday to respond to a request from Air Canada to settle the labor dispute through binding arbitration. Government-mandated arbitration is normally used to end long and disruptive walkouts, not to block a strike before it begins. Hugh Pouliot, a spokesman for the Canadian Union of Public Employees, of which Air Canada's flight attendants are members, said it would reject arbitration. 'We will not surrender our constitutionally protected right to strike,' he said. Ms. Hajdu did not indicate what she would do if the union rejected the airline's latest attempt at arbitration. She has continually urged the two sides to resume direct negotiations, which broke down over wages and the union's demand that the company pay attendants for the hours worked before planes take off and after flights land, known as groundwork. Arbitrators rarely introduce major new changes — like groundwork compensation — in contracts they impose. Air Canada began canceling flights on Thursday, after the union issued a notice that it intended to strike at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday. The airline responded with a similar notice, saying that it planned to lock out the flight attendants at the same time. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

This Jackery Portable Power Station Is Back at Black Friday Pricing, Even Cheaper Than Prime Day
We're nearing the end of the Summer season, and to be honest, we're kind of happy about it. It's too darn hot! If you like the Summer though, then you might still have some camping trips left, or maybe you're just looking for a bit of a backup if power goes out in your home or city. Either way, a good portable power station can really help. The Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 300 is normally $259, which is already pretty reasonable, but thanks to a limited-time deal on Amazon right now, you can get it for just $169 at the moment. We don't know how long the deal will last though, so make sure you're quick if you want it. See at Amazon A portable power station like this can be used for loads of different things. The most obvious uses tend to be the ones outdoors. You can take it with you when you're going camping to let you keep your phone charged or cook with, and you can take it with you to the beach to power a fan or something. Even if all it's doing is sitting in your car, it can be handy if you get a flat tire and need to kill some time, or just need it at home. This particular one has a 293Wh capacity, which is a decent amount for most people. It'll allow you to charge your phone, power an appliance or too for a bit, or just keep those creature comforts going when you're out in the wilderness for a couple of days. You can actually attach it to a compatibly solar panel too, if you have one or pick one up, and then you've basically got infinite power while you're outdoors. The battery itself only takes about three hours to fully charge, and it has two AC outlets, a USB-C port, a fast-charge 3.0 port, a USB-A port, and a DC car port as well. It means that you've plenty of options, and it also means it can handle more or less anything you throw at it, which is exactly what you should be aiming for with a portable power station. It's easy to see why this thing is worth the usual price of $259, which means the deal is all the sweeter. So, if you do want to get it while it's on sale, we recommend moving quickly to snap it up while it's down to just $169. See at Amazon
