Tybee Island police looking for men accused of hanging dog over fence, choking it with leash at park
The Tybee Island Police Department announced Wednesday night that they received reports and video of two men 'strangling an animal with a leash' at a dog park on April 5.

A person who called police told them that they saw a man throw a dog over a fence and choke it by holding it off the ground by its leash for about seven seconds.
The caller said they confronted the man, who then broke two fence slats and pulled the dog through the hole before rounding up four other dogs along with a companion, loading them into their van and leaving the area.
Police said the caller also took video, which was shared with officers.
The two men are described as white, middle-aged, wearing a white T-shirt and a Captain America T-shirt, accompanied by five dogs, and traveling in a large white utility van.

City says arbitrator ignored ‘simply obvious dangers' by reinstating fired police sergeant
The City of Dayton has filed an appeal after an arbitrator ruled that a fired police sergeant must be reinstated. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] As News Center 7 previously reported, the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 44 filed a grievance on behalf of fired Dayton Police Department Sergeant Joseph Setty. The grievance claims the department didn't follow contract guidelines when firing him. The grievance went to an independent arbitrator, who sided with the union and ordered Setty to be reinstated. Setty was placed on paid leave in March 2023 after more than one woman accused him of sexual assault. The Ohio BCI conducted a criminal investigation, and the Dayton Police Department did an internal investigation. Setty pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful restraint and two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct in May 2024. 'The Arbitrator simply ignored the plainly obvious dangers in allowing an individual who pled and was found guilty of restraining another of the person's liberty, without privilege to do so, to remain in a position where he is tasked with restraining people routinely,' the city claims in court documents.
