'I ate at McDonald's in India and was surprised by alternative to Big Mac'

McDonald's in India doesn't sell the Big Mac, which is arguably one of the most famous burgers in the world. One tourist decided to try out the country's alternative McDonald's is the largest fast food chain in the world, serving more than 68 million customers daily in 119 countries. And although you'll find a lot of the same items in various countries, there are also some notable differences. For example, if you go to McDonald's in the US, you might find some different items such as the McGriddle, and there are different size variations. But one Maccies fan who recently visited a Golden Arches chain in India was very surprised by the different offerings, including something he said was their alternative to the popular Big Mac. ‌ Travel content creator Matt Shoe recently took to his @mattshoeclips TikTok account to share his thoughts. He explained that in India they don't have the classic Big Mac, which is a classic burger sold by the fast food giant. It consists of two beef patties, Big Mac sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, served between three slices of buns. ‌ Matt went on to explain that McDonald's in India doesn't sell beef or pork because of the Hindu and Muslim beliefs in the country. Instead, they have various other offerings. The content creator decided to try the Chicken Maharaja Mac, Veg Maharaja Mac, which are the alternatives to Big Mac, and McSpicy Chicken. The three burgers came to about $7 (£5), and he decided to try the McSpicy Chicken burger first. Matt said the chicken "looks pretty, pretty good" and after trying it he was happy to report that it was "really tender", and he was happy with the amount of meat in the burger. However, he said the burger itself was "slightly dry, though". ‌ He then tried the Chicken Maharaja Mac, and was surprised it looked very similar to the Big Mac. After trying it, he said: "It looks like some kind of a chicken patty. It's pretty nice but I actually prefer the real chicken [fillet] one." Matt also tried the vegetarian version, and he was surprised that the patties looked "better". "They look crispy and more full," he added. "I didn't think I'd ever say this in my entire life, but I prefer the veg version [...]. My life has been a lie," he said. On the McDonald's India blog, it explains about the Maharaja Mac burger: "It took a while to conceptualise this burger. When McDonald's was working on its first menu for India, more than half of the menu items were changed to suit the tastes of Indian consumers. Based on the initial research and surveys, it was found out that customers were looking to try filling a burger with premium ingredients. Hence, it was decided that an Indian equivalent to the Big Mac should be created." The development process to create the Chicken Maharaja Mac took nine months. They explained: "It comprised a delicious chicken double patty, with rich habanero sauce, fiery jalapenos, juicy tomatoes and crunchy shredded onions, placed on cheddar cheese and a bed of iceberg lettuce. That was the Chicken Maharaja Mac for you, bursting with flavours in every bite."

McDonald's Australia announces permanent addition to breakfast menu with worldwide hit the McGriddles

It's been a hotcake minute since McDonald's announced a new breakfast menu item but one of Australia's favourite eating joints has just announced a significant addition. After a short trial period, Maccas 'McGriddles' have landed permanently for a good time and a long time on Australian menus. The McGriddle is a thick pancake-like sandwich, fluffier than the typical English muffin, infused with a maple flavouring - think of a cross between a hotcake and a McMuffin. They can be ordered on their own or with the usual breakfast suspects: cheese, egg, bacon, or Maccas signature sausage patty. Whether you're an early riser or serial snoozer, the sweet and savoury combination sounds like it is worth getting out of bed for. After proving popular with diners during the initial trial period, marketing director of menu and brand for McDonalds's Australia Amanda Nakad said they'll be rolling them out nationwide. 'Safe to say, we got the message and gave our iconic breakfast menu a glow up by adding it to the national menu. 'The McGriddles range joins our other main characters: crispy hash browns, toasted McMuffins and cracked eggs' she said. The soft and fluffy, sweet and savoury combo has been available in selected stores worldwide for more than two decades in Hong Kong, Japan and Canada, among others, but it's the first time they've made an appearance down under. Social media users and firm Maccas fans couldn't contain their excitement at the news. 'Had one for breakfast, it was fantastic. Everyone needs a McGriddle at 4am,' one user said. 'Finally! Been getting these for 10 years in the states. This is all I wanted in Aus. Love,' said another. 'Dreams really do come true' one happy user noted. With cold mornings making the early commute more of a struggle, it's nice to know that the fast food giant has you covered with comfort food to fuel you for the day. McGriddles are available now in McDonald's restaurants Australia-wide until 10.30am.

Farewell, Orange Julius, You Sweet 42-Year-Old Summer Child

The Lloyd Center Dairy Queen-Orange Julius combo, likely the second-oldest tenant in the mall at 42 years old, is closing. The final day of service is Sunday, June 29. The closing marks the last location for the Dairy Queen-owned destination for the eponymous frigid drink and DQ Dilly Bars. According to the Oregonian , the location has been long held together by franchise owner Bob Slayton. The 82-year-old owner died on Monday, May 19. Slayton was working six days a week when he was diagnosed with cancer in February. He began working at Lloyd Center in 1961 while still in high school. After a career as a professional barrel jumper, in 1983 he converted the mall's Bob's Hol'n One into an Orange Julius. At one time, Slayton had three Orange Julius locations including the Clackamas Town Center and Vancouver Mall. Moises Sotelo-Casas, the owner of pruning and landscaping business Novo Start Vineyard Service in Newberg, has been detained by a much-emboldened ICE immigration enforcement. Bridgetown Bites reports Sotelo-Casas arrived in the U.S. in the mid-1990s and was working to gain his U.S. citizenship with the help of a former employer. The local wine industry is calling out the federal government for detaining a beloved member of the Willamette Valley wine community. Sotelo-Casas's family has established a GoFundMe to assist with costs in freeing him (immigration attorneys, bond fees, translation fees, and more), provide stability for his business, and to help his family secure alternative housing. For those in the know, Euzumeh and L'Echelle teaming up is no small thing. The former is Jordanian American chef Tamara Hattar's pop-up, riddled with Levantine flavors and standout dishes including cumin-and-cardamom-seasoned chicken wings served with yogurt sauce and zhoug. The latter is the Division Street newcomer that opened in late May, a final effort from the late Naomi Pomeroy and co-owner Luke Dirks. Hattar will take over L'Echelle throughout the summer. The debut service takes place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. Hunnymilk Brunch, a favorite for powerful portions of fried chicken and McGriddle dupes, is leaving West Burnside. In an email, owner Brandon Weeks says the final day of service at the current location is Sunday, June 29. For now, Hunnymilk will head back to its roots: as a pop-up inside La Buca restaurant at 40 NE 28th Avenue. The first day of service there will be Friday, July 4 with the same service schedule as now. See More:

From serving slices to looks: Pizza Hut Singapore debuts streetwear collection in collab with local brand, Lifestyle News

Pizza Hut Singapore is set to drop its hottest slice yet — and it's not a dish from out of the oven. The restaurant chain has entered new territory following its fashion collaboration with local clothing brand and creative studio Tell Your Children, Pizza Hut Singapore announced on Tuesday (June 17). The streetwear collection, a first from Pizza Hut Singapore, is inspired by pop culture and trending nostalgic design cues. The curated lineup includes a custom edition varsity jacket, graphic tee and illustrated crew socks. Head over to Pizza Hut Singapore's website and app from June 18 at 5pm to purchase these items. Do note that they are for self-collection only, while stocks last. A closer look Much of the lineup's design takes its cue from Pizza Hut's latest sourdough pizzas, as well as being a nod to imperfection. The collection's "perfectly imperfect" designs "mirror our new handcrafted crust variant", said Jayss Rajoo, director of marketing and food innovation at Pizza Hut Singapore, in a statement. The Custom Varsity Jacket ($135) features a bold 'Perfectly imperfect' statement across the back. What makes the jacket a head-turner is the eye-catching contrast sleeves, with one side beige while the other white. The Crew Socks ($15) are intentionally mismatched, making them just as quirky. While one side has pizza slice prints all over, the other displays the collaboration logo. The Graphic Tee ($45) should be a treat if you're looking for some nostalgia. The oversized tee features a funky graphic at the front but the back is where it's at with a homage to Pizza Hut's iconic hotline. While this marks Pizza Hut Singapore's first bite into the streetwear scene, it's not the brand's first experience with fashion. Over in the US, Pizza Hut launched a limited-edition capsule collection back in 2021 with a lineup that featured track suits inspired by its iconic red roof logo. Food and fashion In August 2023, fast-food giant McDonald's announced that it would be dropping a limited-edition McGriddle hoodie. The hoodie comes in a nude shade, with a tiny embroidery of the sandwich at the front and a list of ingredients that goes into making it on the back. To get their hands on the hoodie, customers had to simply order two Breakfast McGriddles Value Meal. With only 200 pieces available, customers were seen queuing as early as 6.22am on launch day in hopes of grabbing this exclusive piece. [[nid:696552]] amierul@
