'Not Keen To Travel To India For Asia Cup', Pakistan Hockey Federation Chief Tells FIH
Tariq Bugti shared PHF's reservation about travelling to India, citing the tense relationship between the countries.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation has intimated the FIH that it would be difficult to send their national team across the border to Indian for the upcoming Asia Cup, due to security reasons.
PHF head Tariq Bugti shared the governing body's concerns about travelling to India, citing the tense relationship between the countries following the armed conflict between the nations earlier in the year.
Bugti revealed that the PHF had informed the FIH about their position ahead of the continental tournament, which also doubles as a qualifier to the FIH World Cup next year.
'We have informed them that in the existing scenario, our team will face security risks playing in India," Bugti said.
'We have informed them our players are also not keen to travel to India for the Asia Cup which is also a direct qualifying tournament," he added.
Bugti added that the onus to provide security for the side rests with the FIH and the AHF for the safe passage and return of the players.
'We have asked them to let us know what guarantee is there that our players will be safe in India and will be able to focus on the tournament," he added.

Team India will begin its campaign against UAE on September 10 and may play all their matches in Dubai. As both India and Pakistan are expected to go past the group stage, there is a chance that the two nations will clash again in the tournament, this time in the Super Four stage on September 21. Group A comprises India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will give teams the provision of combining 17-member squads for the 19-match tournament, with matches scheduled in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. While the BCCI is the official host, the tournament will be held in UAE as India and Pakistan have agreed to play only at neutral venues till 2027 due to ongoing cross-border tensions.

Climbers aim for Mt Samgyal, Mt Dawa & Mt Meru's untouched path
Pune: A team of mountaineers from the city is preparing for two daring expeditions in the Himalayas in August—one to the twin peaks of Mount Samgyal (5,814 m) and Mount Dawa (5,900 m) in Ladakh's Nubra Valley, and the other to Mount Meru (6,310 m), one of India's most technically challenging peaks located in the Gangotri Glacier region. Led by Everest summiteer Krishna Dhokale, the Mount Samgyal and Mount Dawa expedition comprises a group of young climbers who will climb without Sherpa assistance beyond base camp. The team will carry out all logistical responsibilities, including ferrying loads, fixing routes, and making summit decisions independently. Supported by veteran Everest climbers Ganesh More and Ashish Mane, this expedition is designed to develop leadership, endurance, and alpine self-sufficiency among India's new generation of mountaineers. Simultaneously, a separate group of experienced climbers will attempt an unprecedented ascent of Mount Meru via the East Ridge, a route that has never been successfully climbed. The Mount Samgyal and Mount Dawa expedition will be led by Everest summiteer Mr Krishna Dhokale, with guidance and support from experienced climbers Ganesh More and Ashish Mane, also Everest summiteers from Giripremi. Simultaneously, Umesh Zirpe of Giripremi will lead the expedition to Mount Meru in the Gangotri Glacier region. This attempt will be made via the extremely challenging East Ridge, a route that has never been climbed before. Zirpe said, "Mount Meru, located in the Garhwal Himalayas, is considered one of the most sacred and technically difficult peaks in India, frequently mentioned in ancient Indian scriptures. The East Ridge ascent demands extreme high-altitude rock climbing, negotiating falling rocks, vertical cliffs, deep gorges, and a treacherous approach to base camp. The Indian Army has also taken special note of this challenging endeavour. "

Manchester, Jul 27 (PTI) Head coach Gautam Gambhir on Sunday said the character and foundation of the current Indian team will be built on the remarkable act of courage from Rishabh Pant, who batted in the first innings of the fourth Test with a broken right foot. Pant added crucial first innings runs for the team despite batting with a fractured foot after missing a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes on day one. He managed to get a half-century, helping India post 358 on day two. Pant was not required to bat in the second innings as Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar guided India to a morale-boosting draw with a century each to keep the series alive. 'Rishabh already, it's been declared that he's out of the series. And one thing I want to say is that the character and the foundation of this team will be built on what Rishabh did for the team and for the country as well," said Gambhir in the post-match media interaction.
