Pakistan Cricket Board decides to postpone PSL
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday decided to postpone the ongoing Pakistan Super League with eight matches remaining because of the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Earlier in the day BCCI too has suspended the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 after the heightened tensions between the nations.
'The decision to postpone has been taken pursuant to advice received from the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who has kept in view the reckless aggression from India that has escalated to a point where national attention and sentiments are rightly focused on the courageous efforts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who are vociferously upholding the sovereignty of our beloved Pakistan,' PCB said in a statement said.
'The last 24 hours have seen a worsening of the situation on the LOC, increased incursion of 78 drones, and the firing of surface to surface missiles from India,' read PCB's statement.
Earlier, PCB confirmed that the last eight fixtures, which were previously scheduled in Rawalpindi, Multan and Lahore, will now be played in the UAE. 'The PCB confirms that the remaining fixtures of the HBL PSL X have been shifted to the UAE,' PCB said in a media release.
However, a PTI source was quoted today 'The Emirates Cricket Board has enjoyed a strong relationship with BCCI in recent years having hosted the 'India' edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, editions of the IPL as well as India matches during ICC Champions Trophy 2025.' Dubai is also the headquarter of the International Cricket Council, which is currently headed by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
The PCB said it recognises the efforts and support of its partners, franchises, participating players, broadcasters, sponsors, and organizers in having ensured the smooth conduct of the tournament thus far, however; cricket while being a unifying force and a source of joy, must take a respectful pause when the country is facing such callous opposition.
India attacked the terror infrastructure in Pakistan, two weeks after 26 civilians, including a Nepalese citizen, were gunned downed by terrorist in Pahalgam – a popular tourists destination in India.

Legendary fast bowler James Anderson expressed gratitude for being linked to the upcoming Test series between England and India. The highest wicket-taking pacer in Test history, Anderson was honoured alongside batting icon Sachin Tendulkar, and the series is set to be renamed in recognition of the two greats. The BCCI and ECB took the big call by deciding to replace the long-standing Pataudi Trophy with the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy ahead of the Test series in England. Anderson and Tendulkar engaged in numerous memorable on-field battles in red-ball cricket, ultimately retiring as legends in their respective disciplines. The English legend was ecstatic to get the honour and shared it with someone like Sachin, whom he said he looked up to while growing up. "It's a huge honour," Anderson told ESPNcricinfo during a DP World event at Lord's. "I still can't quite believe it. Sachin is someone I looked up to when I was growing up, though I don't want to do him a disservice with his age," he added. Anderson heaped praise on Tendulkar and said he is proud of this honour. "I remember watching him, an absolute legend of the game, and I played against him a lot as well. So to have this trophy is a huge honour for me, and I couldn't be more proud," he added. India A's tour games against England Lions, comprising two four-day matches, concluded on Monday. Both fixtures—played in Canterbury and Northampton—ended in draws. But more than the results, the matches held significance for the 19 Indian players involved. For 12 of them, it was a chance to prove their mettle in foreign conditions and make a case to the BCCI selection committee. For the remaining seven, it served as valuable preparation for the upcoming five-match Test series in England, starting June 20. Although the India A team will remain in England for one final tour match—an intra-squad game against the Shubman Gill-led side in Beckenham starting next Monday (June 16)—seven players from the squad have now joined the senior team. These include Karun Nair, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, and Shardul Thakur. Ahead of the final preparatory game, here's a look at how these players have geared up for the England Test series. Karun Nair poised for No. 4 role: The veteran batter is not only set to make a return to the Indian Test XI for the firs time in eight years, but is poised for the vacant No. 4 role, which had belonged to Virat Kohli until his retirement last month. Thakur vs Reddy: Unfortunately, neither made a compelling case to make the playing XI. Reddy was the frontrunner in the battle of the all-rounders, after his performance in Australia, but despite the English conditions being more suitable to his pace-bowling variety, he struggled to get breakthroughs, managing just two wickets in two matches, while scoring 135 runs in four innings, including a fifty. Thakur, on the other hand, who had lost the race to make the Indian team for the Australia tour to the Andhra star last October, needed runs to make his case, but managed just 80 runs in three innings. More worryingly, his bowling failed to trouble the batters. In the first match, he picked up two wickets, but failed to get his name in the scoresheet in the second game.
