Ducks' Zegras Suspended Three Games for Late Hit
The reasoning for supplemental discipline from NHL Player Safety is that the hit was interference, it was late, it caused an injury and there was significant head contact—combined with the force of the hit—on the play.
This is Zegras' first suspension. He will miss Tuesday's road game against the Buffalo Sabres along with Thursday and Saturday's home games against the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks.
In his absence, the Ducks may recall one of their top scorers from the AHL in Sam Colangelo, who has had several NHL stints this season. Colangelo has 35 points in 37 AHL games this season and leads the San Diego Gulls in goals with 19. He was also named to the AHL All-Star Game.
Losing Zegras for three games while pushing for a playoff spot is a big blow. His creativity with the puck is an element that the team misses when he isn't in the lineup, so how they fare in and adapt to his absence will be key.

2025-26 Rockets schedule: Most months grade out as easier than NBA average
In HoopsHype's month-by-month breakdown of each NBA team's 2025-26 schedule, only Houston's October and February opponents grade out as above average in difficulty. Heading into the NBA's 2025-26 regular season, the Houston Rockets appear to have one of the league's easiest schedules. As further evidence, our friends at HoopsHype broke down which parts of the season would appear to be tougher or easier for each team. The methodology is as follows: We used average over/under win projections from the most popular sportsbooks to build a month-by-month Strength of Schedule (SOS) for every NBA team in 2025-26. For each month, we calculated SOS as the simple average of that month's opponents' projected wins. We also tracked games scheduled per month, opponent total wins, and a normalized SOS Index where 100 equals the league-average opponent (the higher the number, the more difficult their schedule is). The complete data set can be viewed here. For the Rockets, the monthly breakdown goes as follows: So, out of seven months, only two are above the league average of 100 — and both by a very slight amount (100.7). But, there's more! October is an extremely limited sample with by far the fewest games of any month, since there are only three games due to the league's Oct. 21 start date. So, among the six months with a more substantive sample, only February — which includes a break of more than a week midway through it for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game — currently grades out as above average in difficulty. Coming off a season with a 52-30 record and the No. 2 mark in the Western Conference, it would appear that the Rockets — who acquired Kevin Durant this offseason and could have further growth and development by young stars Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun — should have every opportunity (assuming health) to build on that in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign. It's hard to believe nowadays that the legendary 2001-02 Detroit Red Wings roster featured an astounding 10 future Hall of Fame players, a feat that we'll likely never witness again in the modern NHL. Oh, and they were also coached by Scotty Bowman, arguably the greatest head coach in professional sports. That team was nothing short of a juggernaut, and they capped the campaign by winning the 10th Stanley Cup in Red Wings history. There likely weren't many who would have expected young rookie forward Pavel Datsyuk, a fresh-faced rookie who didn't yet speak English, would not only soon be paired on a line with Brett Hull but would eventually have his own Hall of Fame career in Detroit. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2024, Datsyuk became the 10th player from the 2001-02 Red Wings roster to be forever enshrined in Toronto. Atlanta would need to play its cards right when discussing deals to acquire Marte and shop Albies as it needs to hold onto the power in the negotiations.
