Steal, Sell, Steal Again: Crime Branch Nabs Vehicle Thief!

Time of India5 days ago
Nagpur: In a meticulous operation, the crime branch on Sunday arrested 28-year-old Nilesh, also known as Abhi Kadbe, exposing a cunning vehicle theft racket with a twist. Kadbe would sell stolen vehicles at low prices, only to steal them back from the buyers.
His arrest also led to the discovery of a Mauser pistol with live ammunition in his possession, adding a dangerous element to his crimes.
Kadbe, a resident of Dhammajyoti Nagar, was nabbed in Kapil Nagar following a tip-off about an armed suspect. Senior inspector Sandeep Buwa, under DCP Rahul Maknikar, led the operation. During interrogation, Kadbe confessed to buying the firearm from an individual named Altaf in Betul, Madhya Pradesh, claiming it was for self-protection against potential retaliation from his deceived victims.
Police revealed Kadbe's unique modus operandi. "He would steal vehicles, make duplicate keys and fake documents, sell them at low prices, and then track the buyers to steal the vehicles back," a senior officer explained. In one incident in Amravati, Kadbe sold a stolen two-wheeler, followed the buyer to a shrine, and used a duplicate key to take back the vehicle while the buyer was praying. In another instance, he pretended to be a buyer for a sports bike advertised in Amravati, took it for a test drive and escaped with the vehicle.
Kadbe confessed to seven vehicle thefts in Nagpur and Amravati. The crime branch has recovered stolen two-wheelers — a Yamaha and two Activa scooters — along with a Mauser, four mobile phones, a car key, an iron rod, an iron hammer, a vehicle number plate, an RC book, a mobile charger, a bag, and Rs12,400 cash, totalling approximately Rs3.27 lakh. These seized items and Kadbe were handed over to Kapil Nagar police for further investigation.
With Kadbe's arrest, police have dismantled a sophisticated theft network. The cops are now probing whether Kadbe was having any accomplices while carrying out the crimes and his role in any cases.

Five Pakistan fighters shot down during Operation Sindoor: IAF chief

Bengaluru, Aug 9 (UNI) The Indian Air Force destroyed at least five enemy fighter aircraft and one large airborne surveillance platform, possibly an AWNCA or LNT aircraft, during Operation Sindoor, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, said today. The Air Chief revealed that the large aircraft was taken down at a range of about 300 kilometres, the longest recorded surface-to-air kill in history. 'This is the largest ever recorded surface-to-air engagement, and it sends a powerful signal about our air defence capabilities,' Singh said. The IAF chief added that several F-16 fighter jets were confirmed to be under maintenance at the time of the strikes, in addition to other aircraft destroyed or damaged on the ground. 'We have at least five fighters confirmed killed. The large aircraft we neutralised was either an electronic intelligence platform or an airborne warning and control system,' he explained. Singh said these achievements were supported by India's advanced air defence systems, including the S-400 platform, which played a key role in detecting and neutralising enemy targets at extended ranges. According to Singh, the targeting of high-value airborne assets, combined with the elimination of multiple fighters, was aimed at crippling the adversary's operational awareness and reducing its ability to coordinate air operations effectively. Operation Sindoor was designed to send a clear message that the Indian Air Force can strike deep inside enemy territory at any time, Singh said. The Air Chief said the mission's objective was not limited to destroying a single target but aimed to stretch enemy resources and create the impression that terrorists are safe nowhere. 'That night, we held nothing back. We decided we would attack at multiple points across the front, forcing them to defend several locations simultaneously. The idea was to give them the feeling — or the indication — that we can hit them wherever we want, whenever we want,' he explained. Singh said enemy aircraft did come near the borders, and although they often stayed away, there were occasions when they were within operational range. 'That gave us opportunities to engage them,' he said, adding that the Indian offensive was planned without restrictions. Among the key strikes was the attack on the Command and Control Centre at the Noor Khan Air Base. 'This was based on specific intelligence. The main planning building, also used at times as a civil terminal, was targeted to disrupt operational planning,' he said. At Sukkur Airbase, the IAF hit the UAV hangar and a radar site, with before-and-after visuals confirming the damage. At Bulari, an AWACS hangar was destroyed, and clear evidence showed that an aircraft was inside during the strike. Recalling the strike on Sargodha, Singh said, 'We had hard intelligence of an F-16 taking off from there. It was a moment we in the Air Force have dreamt of — and I got my chance just before retirement.' The Air Chief underlined that each attack during Operation Sindoor was chosen based on precise intelligence, ensuring that critical assets — from radar installations to aircraft hangars — were neutralised, sending a strong signal about India's offensive reach and readiness. Five Pakistan Air Force aircraft taken down during Operation Sindoor: IAF Chief

The Indian Air Force (IAF) took down six Pakistan Air Force aircraft, including five fighter jets and one large aircraft, during Operation Sindoor, said Chief of the Air Staff Marshal A.P. Singh on Saturday (August 9, 2025). While delivering the keynote address of the 16th Air Chief Marshal L.M. Katre Memorial Lecture in Bengaluru, he said, 'These are the before and after images of the damage we caused (at Bahawalpur - JeM HQ)... There's hardly any collateral here... The adjacent buildings are fairly intact... Not only did we have satellite pictures, but also from local media, through which we could get inside pictures…' Speaking on Operation Sindoor, Air Chief Marshal Singh said, 'Our Air Defence systems have done a wonderful job. The S-400 system, which we had recently bought, has been a game-changer. The range of that system has really kept their aircraft away from their weapons, like those long-range glide bombs that they have; they have not been able to use any one of those because they have not been able to penetrate the system…' He also interacted with serving and retired air force personnel after delivering the keynote address. Fake caste certificates used for loans in Nashik, says Narendra Patil

1 2 3 Nashik: Chairperson of Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation, Narendra Patil, on Thursday claimed that eight people not belonging to the Maratha community in Nashik district have submitted fake documents to get a loan under the scheme where the corporation provides a refund on the interest. Patil also met the deputy commissioner of police Kirankumar Chavan and submitted an application where the claims were mentioned. "There are at least eight people who submitted fake caste certificates to the bank and obtained loans under the scheme that is only for the members of the Maratha community. The interest refund is provided by the corporation. After we noticed that both the corporation and the banks were cheated, we took countermeasures across the state to ensure such things are not repeated," he said. "We proactively approached the police to investigate the root of these incidents to prevent such occurrences elsewhere," Patil added. The corporation that operates across the state has so far disbursed around Rs12,600 crore in loans, with an interest refund of Rs1,222 crore. In Nashik district alone, 36,477 beneficiaries received Rs 2,700 crore as loan, with the corporation providing an interest refund of Rs253 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Enjoy 100% Pure New Zealand and fly Air New Zealand airnewzealand Undo "What we noticed is that some of the illegal agents, online e-service centres and vehicle sales centres facilitated non-Maratha beneficiaries to avail the loan scheme by submitting forged documents," Patil said. "To ensure transparency in the future, the corporation plans to integrate Aadhaar and PAN linking through the Direct Benefit Transfer system," he added.
