Abilene city council candidate served with lawsuit while on Facebook live
ABILENE, Texas () – An Abilene city council candidate was served with a lawsuit while on Facebook live Friday afternoon.
Cynthia Alvidrez, running for Abilene City Council Place 5, was on Facebook live recording a police standoff in south Abilene around 1:00 p.m. when a Taylor County Constable approached her and served her with the lawsuit.
KTAB and KRBC pulled the details of the lawsuit after the incident and learned Abilene Teacher's Federal Credit Union is seeking damages against Alvidrez in the amount of $15,976.83.
The lawsuit states $9,181.16 is owed because Alvidrez allegedly defaulted on a loan that was opened in September 2020, and $6,661.67 is owned after the sale of a BMW.

While Alvidrez was still live on Facebook, KTAB and KRBC asked her about the lawsuit, and she claimed it was over a BMW vehicle that had a faulty engine that she gave back to the bank.
Alvidrez said, 'I'm no different than the average people you see walking down the street struggling day by day, hence why I'm running again because we have had our water and sewer bonds sold on the market, we had a hotel we didn't need, and that's just adding that much more stress on what we've already got going on.'
Alvidrez went on to claim that the motor in her BMW went out two years ago, and she made her payment for months before she 'just couldn't do it anymore.' She then stated that she'll talk to the bank about it whenever they go to court.

The alleged perv, who volunteered with local education organizations in the Portland area, is suspected of using Facebook, Instagram and AntiLand, an anonymous chat room, to hunt for young girls online. Cops said he often used fake names like Jeff, Don Jon and Marc to bait his victims, and had a 2018 Nissan Frontier and a 2002 Volkswagen Golf registered in his name. Officials now believe there may be more victims and have made public the cars registered to the accused predator. Clackamas County Sheriffâs Office Winkelhake was arraigned Wednesday on 23 felony and misdemeanor charges, including first-degree rape, third-degree sexual abuse, first-degree encouraging child sex abuse and luring a minor. Governor: National Guard, police on standby for protests
Gov. Patrick Morrisey has announced that National Guard troops and State Police troopers have been directed to 'stand ready' at protests planned for Saturday. In a statement posted to Facebook on Friday afternoon, Morrisey addressed the number of 'No Kings' rallies that are set to take place nationwide — one of which is scheduled for Morgantown. 'I support the constitutional right to free speech and assembly, but West Virginia will uphold law and order,' Morrisey said. 'We will not tolerate looting, destruction, vandalism, or any violence toward law enforcement. 'I have directed the National Guard and State Police to stand ready to quell any actions that cross the line from peaceful protest to violent criminal behavior.' The rallies are being billed as the largest protests yet against President Donald Trump's actions since taking office for a second term. They will coincide with the military parade in Washington, D.C., to mark the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary. It is also Trump's 79th birthday. The No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 243 High St., Morgantown.
