Green Shadows to chase a return to the Big Dance at Tamworth meeting
Ryan and Alexiou managed to win last year's Goulburn Cup with Green Shadows, before the son of Menari went on to finish 13th behind Gringotts in the Big Dance at Randwick in November.
The five-year-old hasn't raced since then and resumes in the Tamworth feature on the back of two barrier trials.
'The Tamworth Cup looks a nice race for him to kick off his campaign in,' said Ryan. 'We've given him a couple of trials, and he was beaten just under a length and a half in the latest of them at Randwick.
'Braith Nock takes the ride on him at Tamworth, and he's drawn a good barrier.'

Green Shadows is a winner of five of his 27 starts, with a further six second placings. He's earned almost $470,000 and first prize in the Tamworth Cup is worth $109,000.
'He's been a consistent horse for connections, and you'd love a stable full of a horse like him,' said Ryan. 'He won his first start in a race at Goulburn, has taken on Group 1 company in his career, and is still going as well as ever.'
Green Shadows will face stern opposition in the Tamworth Cup with the Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald trained stablemates West Of Africa and Sibaaq lining up.

Skyhook made an early spring carnival statement when equalling a weight-carrying record to win the first Sydney stakes race of the new season at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. There was no fluke about Skyhook 's win in the Listed $200,000 The Rosebud (1100m), either. The race was run at a farcical early tempo, he settled last and had to come around the field in heavy track conditions. But Skyhook managed to overcome all this while carrying topweight of 60.5kg – a feat achieved only once previously by the talented Menari when he won the Rosebud in 2017. 'We've been going to the sales looking at Written Tycoons ever since Written Tycoon went to stud,'' the trainer said. 'But this is the only Written Tycoon we've bought even though we have loved him at the sales. We have been given them to train but Sterling and I have actually not bought one. 'I went through all the Written Tycoon's (performances) on wet tracks and he hadn't got many wet trackers,'' the trainer said. 'But this colt's had a great preparation, he's a horse that doesn't take heaps of work, he doesn't get gross and he's got the right attitude. 'He probably doesn't look any different now to what he did in the autumn, but on the scales he's heavier but looking at him physically, he's not. He's such a fluent-actioned horse, a very athletic horse.'' The Ryan and Alexiou stable's other runner, Blitzburg finished only fifth, beaten nearly seventh lengths. 'Blitzburg missed the start but I was surprised he didn't show more speed,'' Ryan said. 'Whether it's the ground, I don't know, as they didn't seem to go that quick. 'I was a little disappointed with him because he has been going well at home. 'We might have to reassess, he's better than that.' Trainer Peter Snowden deliberately set Grand Prairie for the Rosebud and the three-year-old went close to securing a stakes race win. Pallaton settled behind the leaders in a slowly-run race and was forced to stay close to the rail in the straight where the better going was wide out so he had excuse in defeat. 'Tommy (Berry, jockey) didn't want to go back to the fence on Pallaton in the straight as it is clearly inferior ground,'' trainer Freedman said. 'But when the two in front didn't move anywhere, he had no other option. 'His defeat was combination of being fresh early, the pace dropping off mid-race and then having to go back to the inside. 'We will have a think about coming back here for the San Domenico Stakes in two weeks but I haven't totally ruled out the Moir Stakes. He would have only 52.5kg in the Moir and it is always run at a fast tempo which would suit this horse.''

Ryan Maloney warms up for Melbourne mission next week with a double at Doomben
Ryan Maloney warmed up for his ride on Golden Boom in next week's Listed Carlyon Stakes at The Valley with a brilliant double at Doomben on Saturday. The Brisbane-based Victorian jockey will head to Melbourne next Saturday to ride the Tony Gollan -trained gelding in the $175,000 race over 1000m. Maloney showed his class at Mekka race day at Doomben with consecutive victories on the Ciaron Maher -trained Spywire ($2.90) and Gollan's Nettuno ($3.10), who won in a nailbiter. 'It's the perfect race for him,' Maloney said about Golden Boom's opening southern mission before he possibly heads to the $750,000 Group 1 Moir Stakes on September 6. 'His trial at Deagon (on August 5) was good enough for him to be more than competitive down there. 'He's been around The Valley before and it's a fast-course track so that makes it easier from my perspective.' The classy Maloney had already racked up eight victories this season and said his goal for the rest of the year was simply to stay consistent. 'Over the last few years I certainly haven't done that and I'm not getting any younger so I need to make hay while the sun shines,' the 40-year-old said. 'I've had a good start to the season and hopefully I can continue without any niggling injuries. 'My body is pretty sound at the moment and hopefully that continues and I can keep building momentum.' 'You know those horses who have no luck, well he's been one of those horses,' Murphy said. 'I talked to the owner (Andrew Knox) and I said why don't we put him in a 1350m race and take luck out of it and just let him bowl to the front? 'Taylor had him travelling beautifully today and I thought it was over at the half mile. 'He's a really aggressive horse and that's the only thing that worried me today, that he'd go too hard.'
