BBC News6 days ago
A Good Samaritan has been praised as the "hero of the hour" by emergency services after coming to the aid of an injured walker on Wednesday night. The walker was found by a man, currently known only as Peter, after he injured himself on the Stiperstones in Shropshire, but managed to use a whistle to attract attention.Peter managed to locate him and called 999, before staying with the casualty until help arrived and guiding the emergency services to their location.A West Mercia Search and Rescue (WMSR) team, who said Peter was the "hero of the hour", were joined by West Midlands Ambulance Service and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to get the walker to safety.
"This was another fantastic collaborative effort from all involved to bring the casualty from the hill to ensure they receive the correct medical care," WMSR said in a statement.
