CAIRO (WAM) Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, has strongly condemned the Israeli occupation's direct targeting of the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which rendered it completely out of service, calling it a blatant violation of all international conventions and norms, particularly international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. In a statement issued on Monday, Al Yamahi described the attack as a new chapter in a series of systematic crimes and violations committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people. He stressed that deliberately targeting civilian and medical facilities, including hospitals that serve as humanitarian sanctuaries, crosses all red lines. He warned of the 'grave consequences of continued international silence in the face of these crimes, which has effectively given the occupation a green light to proceed with its genocide campaign that has persisted for over 19 months, claiming over 170,000 victims including martyrs, wounded, and missing persons, in what appears to be a systematic plan to depopulate the land and eliminate the Palestinian presence.'The Arab Parliament Speaker urged the international community, including the UN Security Council, the World Health Organisation, and international and regional parliaments, to shoulder their legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities. He called for urgent intervention to halt these atrocities, ensure international protection for the Palestinian people and medical facilities in Gaza, and end the ongoing genocide against innocent civilians, particularly women and children.Al Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament's unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their just struggle to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the right to life, freedom, and dignity.
He also called for holding the leaders of the Israeli occupation accountable for actions that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity under international and humanitarian law.

Gaza Strip: Malnutrition causes developmental issues for life in children, says Oxfam

Malnutrition in children causes lifelong developmental issues, Oxfam's humanitarian response adviser for the Gaza Strip told Irish public broadcaster RTE on Friday. Chris McIntosh told RTÉ's Morning Ireland, "Malnutrition in children is a severe problem because it can cause developmental issues". "Unlike adults, they don't have the ability to spring back from a period of undernutrition and this affects brain development and a host of other health issues that will be with them for the rest of their lives". "To smell food being cooked is also a total novelty these days," McIntosh added. McIntosh also said seeing people eating food was rare, and children were reduced to searching for food in bins. Oxfam was one of more than 100 NGOs that signed a letter saying that new Israeli legislation regulating aid groups is being used to refuse their requests to bring supplies into Gaza. McIntosh added that Israel's claim that aid trucks waiting to enter Gaza do not meet security standards is false.

West Bank: France condemns Israel's destruction of a school it helped fund and build

France's foreign ministry has condemned Israel's demolition of a school that was financeed and built by the French Development Agency (AFD) in partnership with the European Union, Al Jazeera reported on Friday. The school in the village of Aqaba near Tubas in the West Bank, was demolished on 5 August. It was supposed to enrol around 100 local Palestinian children 'The continuation of the colonial policy constitutes a serious violation of international law and threatens the possibility of a two-state solution,' the ministry said in a statement. The AFD also added the school was the second educational facility it had financed by to be demolished by the Israeli army in the West Bank. AFD says on its website it works to implement France's policies of development and international solidarity.
