From June 17 onwards, the flight number of Ahmedabad-London Gatwick will be 'AI 159' instead of 'AI 171'. The required changes to the booking system were made on Friday, one of the sources said.
Another source said that Air India Express has also decided to do away with its flight number 'IX 171'.

The discontinuation of the flight number '171' is also a mark of respect for the departed souls, they added.

NBT Conclave: High extraction, gap in water usage & recharge alarming, says Rajshekhar

1 2 Lucknow: Did you know that producing a litre of bottled water consumes over five and a half litres of water? In other words, while we drink one litre, more than five litres are lost in the process. This fact was shared by director of the UP ground water department, Raj Shekhar, at the 'Bhujal Suraksha, Bhavishya Ki Raksha' event, jointly organised by Navbharat Times and the UP ground water department on Friday to raise awareness about the growing water crisis. "Making just one leather belt or bag requires around 150 to 200 litres of water. Similarly, growing one kilogram of rice can consume anywhere from 1,500 to 5,000 litres of water," Rajshekhar added. The event highlighted the alarming imbalance between groundwater usage and recharge. "In some places, we are extracting 110% to 400% more than what is naturally recharged. This unsustainable water balance raises serious concerns for the future," he warned. Citing studies by the United Nations and NITI Aayog, he said that water consumption in India is rising rapidly, while groundwater replenishment remains inadequate. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cervecería Nacional CFD: Calcula cuánto podrías ganar invirtiendo solo $100 Empieza a invertir Inscríbete ahora Undo The problem is further aggravated by population growth, intensive water use in agriculture and industry, and unsustainable daily habits. However, there is hope. Shekhar shared success stories from parts of India where new technologies have helped reduce water usage by up to 75%. "Earlier, 100 litres were needed for certain tasks. Now, just 25 to 35 litres are enough," he said. Simple lifestyle changes—such as using water-saving taps, washing machines, and toilets—can also lead to significant water conservation, he added. Metro line 3 timeline extended to March '26

Pune: The executive committee under additional chief secretary (Finance) has approved an extension for completing the 23-km PMRDA Metro Line 3 — connecting Hinjewadi with Shivajinagar — by March 2026 on Friday. The concessionaire's request for a deadline extension was placed before the committee and has now received formal approval, PMRDA commissioner Yogesh Mhase confirmed to TOI on Saturday. "The executive committee has cleared the proposal. The new outer limit for the Metro line's completion is March 2026," Mhase said. A similar extension has also been granted for the integrated double-deck flyover between University Chowk and E-Square junction, with the new deadline set for the end of October. Officials said over 85% of metro work was completed, but several major elements remain. Delays were attributed to pending barricading permissions—especially on VIP routes and high-traffic arterial roads—as well as slow utility shifting. These issues prevented continuous work, necessitating a timeline revision. Originally slated to open in March this year, the Metro launch was first postponed to September, then December, and now to March 2026. Trial runs, previously scheduled for September, are now expected early next year. The entire 23-km line will open in a single phase, officials said. The delay has caused growing frustration among commuters. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . SIDA to set up 13 solar plants in industrial zones

1 2 3 Lucknow/Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) launched a major initiative to power industrial zones with solar energy. As part of its mission to make industrial infrastructure greener and self-sustaining, UPSIDA identified 13 new sites for the installation of solar power plants. "This initiative aligns with the state's Solar Energy Policy–2022, which aims to reduce energy costs, promote environmental conservation and cut carbon emissions," said an official spokesperson on Saturday. The identified locations include Surajpur Site-5, EPIP (Gautam Budh Nagar), TDS City (Ghaziabad), SEZ (Moradabad), Baghpat, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, Prayagraj, and Shahjahanpur—strategic industrial hubs that are set to become solar-enabled zones. An official concerned said that the state govt resolved that industrial areas in UP should not only lead in production but also be energy self-reliant and environmentally friendly. To achieve this, UPSIDA adopted the concept of "Solar Industrial Zones." A 150-kilowatt solar plant was already installed at the UPSIDA headquarters in Kanpur at a cost of ₹82.98 lakh, setting an example of financial viability and ecological responsibility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cervecería Nacional CFD: Calcula cuánto podrías ganar invirtiendo solo $100 Empieza a invertir Inscríbete ahora Undo Beyond powering industries, UPSIDA is also enhancing the aesthetic and functional quality of industrial zones. Under its "solar path" initiative, off-grid solar lighting systems will be installed to ensure well-lit pathways at night. Additionally, green belts are being developed to aid pollution control and make industrial zones more visually appealing and investment-friendly. UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari stated, "This initiative not only benefits the environment but also reduces operating costs. We are encouraging both our campuses and private industries to switch to solar power. The goal is to lower energy costs, cut carbon emissions, and promote clean energy."
