Andhra Pradesh government releases final master plan for Orvakal Node under Hyderabad

The Hindu07-07-2025
The Andhra Pradesh government has notified the final master plan for the Orvakal Node under the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC), covering a total area of 9,719 acres. The notification was issued on Monday through G.O. Ms. No. 121 by Industries and Commerce Secretary N. Yuvaraj, following a resolution by the A.P. Industrial Corridor Development Authority (APICDA).
As per the plan, 52% of the land—about 5,017 acres—will be earmarked for industrial development. The remaining 4,702 acres will accommodate residential, commercial, transportation, public and semi-public facilities, utilities, recreational zones, green spaces, and water bodies.
The APICDA, constituted under the provisions of the APICD Act, 2017, along with its Board and Executive Committee, has been tasked with implementing the master plan. The Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the A.P. Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (APIIC) had earlier requested the issuance of a Gazette notification declaring Orvakal as an industrial node under HBIC.
Following this, the APICDA formally approved the declaration and the final master plan, paving the way for accelerated industrial development in the region.

Four held in ₹3 crore trade investment scam in Hyderabad

Four persons were arrested by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) for their involvement in a fraudulent trade investment scheme, in which a Hyderabad-based man was duped into transferring ₹3 crore. The accused were identified as Srinivas Manubothula (45), Syed Yousuf (45), Chekka Yeshaya alias Shekar (54) and Mohammed Jaber Ahmed (42). One of them was a bank account holder, while the other three acted as agents in facilitating the fraud. The case was booked following a complaint on June 28 by a resident of North Lallaguda, who alleged that he was added to a WhatsApp group called 'SMC Global Securities', purportedly run by a woman named Anu Prita Daga and Ajay Garg, presented as the CEO of SMC Global Securities Ltd, New Delhi. The complainant was lured into joining an investment scheme through a web link sent by Daga. Claiming that SEBI-approved cash management accounts were used, she promised that funds transferred by investors would be securely credited and could be withdrawn at any time. Encouraged to invest in an IPO for a fictitious firm named 'Influx Health Tech Ltd', the victim was told that he had been allocated shares worth ₹49 crore. After he protested, stating he did not authorise such an amount, the fraudsters negotiated a revised payment of ₹3 crore. The funds were transferred to 16 bank accounts provided by Daga, including one in Kerala where ₹77 lakh was deposited. Investigations revealed that ₹8 lakh from the Kerala account was later transferred to the bank account of Srinivas Manubothula, a software consultant. Manubothula, who ran a drone software firm under the name 'Drones Spray', had opened a current account with Axis Bank. Facing financial distress, he agreed to provide this account for use in cyber frauds, for a commission. His associates, including Jaber Ahmed and Syed Yousuf, facilitated the scam by transporting the SIM card linked to the bank account to Mumbai, where other fraudsters managed the transfers. Manubothula received ₹2 lakh for allowing the use of his account, which saw a total inflow of ₹4.3 crore, later redistributed to various accounts via net banking. The police said that as many as 46 NCRP (National Cybercrime Reporting Portal) complaints have been filed against the same bank account from across India. The TGCSB has issued a public advisory warning citizens not to provide their bank accounts for use by others under any circumstance. It also urged people to stay vigilant against fraudulent investment schemes and to report any suspicious activity via the 1930 helpline or

Falcon scam: ED attaches ₹18.14 crore worth properties

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has provisionally attached twelve immovable properties worth ₹18.14 crore in connection with the ₹792 crore fraud allegedly orchestrated by Hyderabad-based Capital Protection Force Pvt. Ltd. and its director Amardeep Kumar. The attachment, made under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, is part of an ongoing investigation into a bogus invoice discounting racket that duped hundreds of investors under the guise of high returns. The properties, attached on Wednesday (July 30, 2025), are held in the name of Amardeep Kumar, his family members, and two firms, Rhett Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. and Rhett Herbal Pvt. Ltd. According to the agency, the scam revolved around a scheme dubbed 'Falcon invoice discounting app', which promised attractive returns by purportedly financing business invoices. However, ED's probe has revealed there was no legitimate invoice discounting business at all. Instead, Amardeep Kumar allegedly developed and aggressively promoted the Falcon app through Google, YouTube and other social media platforms to solicit public investments. The entire scheme was a front, with investor money rerouted into a range of personal luxuries and corporate ventures, including equity investments, unsecured loans, casino spendings, and the purchase of a private jet. The ED pegged the total cheating amount around ₹792 crore, calling Amardeep Kumar the 'mastermind' behind the operation. The app served as the key tool for gathering deposits, while false promises of high returns masked the absence of any real business activity. Earlier in March, the ED had seized a 'Hawker 800A' aircraft allegedly bought by Amardeep Kumar using the proceeds of crime. That seizure came during a series of searches carried out on March 7, 2025. The money laundering investigation stems from three FIRs registered by the Economic Offences Wing, Cyberabad Police. These cases accused Kumar and his company of defrauding investors with promises of lucrative returns that never materialised. The ED said further investigation is ongoing.

Two companies announce share buybacks at up to 40% premium. Do you own any?

With numerous promoters selling their stakes in 2025, two companies have taken a contrarian stance by initiating sizable share buybacks — both at hefty premiums to their current market prices. ADVERTISEMENT This development comes at a time when promoter and insider selling reached a record $30 billion in the first half of 2025, sending overall promoter ownership in listed entities down to a seven-quarter low of 50.1% in Q4FY25. While much of the market has been focused on outflows, these two companies are deploying capital to repurchase shares from the open market, a move that often signals management's conviction in the long-term value of their business. Tracxn Technologies, a SaaS-based startup intelligence platform that tracks over 4 million startups, 72,900 investors, and 786,000 transactions, has approved a buyback worth Rs 800 million — a figure that represents 23.7% of its capital and shares of the company will be bought back at a price of Rs 75 per share, a premium of 25% to the current market price of Rs 56.21 for the stock. ADVERTISEMENT According to disclosures, the buyback is intended to optimize capital allocation, improve return ratios, and return surplus funds to shareholders. By reducing the number of outstanding shares, the company also aims to enhance earnings per share (EPS) and return on equity (ROE). ADVERTISEMENT Hyderabad-based Tanla Platforms, a communications platform-as-a-service (CPaaS) company with a 30% market share, has also launched a buyback programme. The company, which serves major clients like BSNL, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, is repurchasing 2 million shares (approximately 1.5% of its total equity) at Rs 875 per buyback price reflects a 39.4% premium over Tanla's recent trading level of Rs 627.55 on the BSE, although the stock is still down nearly 37.5% from its all-time high of Rs 1,004.10. The total buyback size is Rs 1.75 billion. ADVERTISEMENT Tanla processes over 800 billion transactions annually, powering about 63% of India's A2P SMS traffic, and maintains longstanding relationships with over 50 of the top 100 clients, many of which span more than 5 years. It also offers digital platforms such as TrueBlock, Wisely, and Wise Albert, in addition to its core enterprise communication services. In a year marked by heavy promoter selling, both Tracxn Technologies and Tanla Platforms stand out for taking the opposite route — repurchasing shares at substantial premiums. These buybacks not only reduce equity capital but could also signal the management's belief that the current market prices do not reflect the companies' intrinsic value. ADVERTISEMENT While near-term sectoral challenges persist, the capital allocation decisions from these companies could be seen as an indication of long-term strategic confidence.
