Monk leaves role as Cambridge head coach
League One strugglers Cambridge have announced the departure of head coach Garry Monk after a run of one win in 13 league games. The former Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday boss was appointed in March when Neil Harris left the club after just 17 games in charge to take over at Millwall.Monk guided the U's to the safety of 18th place in League One last season and major changes to the squad were made over the summer. But Cambridge only took one point from their first nine games of the current campaign and despite a run of three successive wins from mid-October, they have since slumped to the foot of the table.Monk leaves Cambridge eight points adrift of safety following Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Exeter. The club's majority owner Paul Barry said in a statement:, external "We would like to thank Garry for his hard work and commitment to Cambridge United over the last 12 months."He really bought into the club during his time with us. We are all very disappointed that it has not worked out in the way we would all have hoped."In the end, the table does not lie and it is the right moment to make a change. There are 15 games remaining, and we must continue to fight together to preserve our League One status over the coming weeks."

Hamilton Accies set to complete treble swoop as side land first summer signings
John Rankin is set to add to his squad as a trio head to Broadwood Hamilton Accies are set to complete a treble signing swoop as boss John Rankin bolsters his squad for a League One title tilt. Defender Ricki Lamie, former Stenhousemuir forward Matty Yates and former Dunfermline defender Aaron Comrie have all agreed terms with teh club, Lanarkshire Live Sport understands. Rankin brought Lamie to the club on loan from Ross County last season, making 11 appearances and netting once in a 2-1 win over Queen's Park during the second half of the season, and Lanarkshire Live Sport understands the club have agreed terms with the former Motherwell man to make his move permanent having left the Staggies this summer. Meanwhile, it is also understood Accies have swooped to sign Yates after his contract expired with the Warriors last month. The 23-year-old scored seven goals in 45 appearances for the Ochilview men in League One last season and Rankin is understood to have agreed terms to bring the striker to Broadwood this summer. Full-back Comrie has also agreed to join Accies for the 2025/26 campaign after leaving the Pars last month. The 28-year-old made 43 appearances last term, chipping in with three goals. Earlier this week, Rankin told Lanarkshire Live Sport their move to Broadwwod being approved by the SPFL had provided some much-needed certainty about the club's future and hoped it would pave the way for him to bring in new players. He said: "We definitely have players to add. We've spent a lot of time on recruitment this summer, speaking to people. "We know it is a bit different, playing in the league below. It is not ideal and it hasn't been ideal with the stadium. "The first question on people's lips has been: 'Where are you going to play?' "So I think the fact we are now able to train and play at Broadwood now, brings a sense of happiness and there is a buzz about it. "The players I have been speaking to now know where we will play and train, it takes that uncertainty away and gives us the chance to go and get the right bodies in now. We want to make the squad stronger and be as strong as possible coming out of the window."
