Moses Itauma: "The reason why they get so nervous and so anxious in their fights is because they are too focused on the outcome. I am not fussed about the outcome, I am fussed about me boxing to my gameplay. When I box to the gameplay, I know that I can beat Dillian Whyte. In turn, it is just going to be 'cool, job is done. You have completed the equation.' Whereas, if I do not do it, it is like 'I have failed.' I would not say I would be happy if I beat Dillian Whyte, but I know I would be disappointed if I do not."
Dillian Whyte: "Today Moses is the next Mike Tyson. He is great, amazing and they talk about him fighting (Oleksandr) Usyk. I go in there, he does his thing, I catch him and blow him up. Then what? People say he's not good any more? My mindset is no-one wants to fight Moses, he is a great fighter, young, sharp and full of beans. You have to believe in yourself and take risks. ‘Worst performance' - O'Brien's FAI Cup verdict as Shels prepare for Euro clash
Shelbourne boss Joey O'Brien has described Sunday's FAI Cup performance against St Patrick's Athletic as the 'worst' of his time in charge so far. But he would rather get that display out of the way before the Reds' massive European play-off clash against Linfield. Shels host the Northern Irish champions at Tolka Park for the second time this summer, in the Europa Conference League play-offs, with a €3.8million place in the league phase up for grabs. They do so on the back of a bitterly disappointing Dublin derby defeat. And O'Brien, who took over from Damien Duff before the Champions League meeting with Linfield last month, said: 'Listen, I think we've been good since we've taken over. That there tonight was probably our worst performance. '(You would) probably rather have it there today than you would on Thursday.' That said, he described himself as 'bitterly disappointed' to be eliminated from the Cup. 'We spoke about it before a monster game here. Bitterly disappointed we're out,' he said, adding that goalkeeper Conor Kearns had suffered a hamstring injury in the first-half. Kearns was making his first appearance since the Linfield game at Windsor Park last month when he hurt himself on the half-hour. 'He's tweaked his hamstring, so we're disappointed obviously for him and for us,' said former Ireland defender O'Brien. 'He came back in, rehab and trained obviously for a week, so he was ready to go. It's disappointing that he felt it again.' On-loan goalkeeper Wessel Speel, who was rested for the FAI Cup tie, will come back into the side on Thursday. We're very disappointed that we're not in the hat. '(This is a) huge week, but again, this was the big game. After Tuesday (the defeat to HNK Rijeka in the Europa League), I wanted to use the disappointment and the hurt that we felt on Tuesday night, and that performance that we put in on Tuesday to really come in here and put a real good performance on and really attack the game. 'I felt we were off it. I'm disappointed in that sense. But you have to dust yourself down. That's the great thing about football, there's always a game around the corner that you get yourself ready for and have a cut off. Shock report suggests Manchester United and Liverpool are eyeing Ireland star
He endured a nightmare season opener on Sunday, but Brentford and Ireland defender Nathan Collins is on the wanted list of some of the Premier League's top clubs. That's according to a report in the Daily Mail on Sunday afternoon, which claims that Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all in the hunt for the Boys in Green centre-half. Collins was handed the captain's armband by new Brentford boss Keith Andrews during the close season, and he skippered the side against Nottingham Forest. It could hardly have gone any worse for the 24-year-old and his manager, as Forest raced into a three-goal first-half lead. Brentford managed to pull one back after the break, but there is clearly a lot of work to be done on the training ground between now and next Saturday's game at home to Aston Villa. Andrews will be eager to hold onto Collins and resist any efforts by rival Premier League sides to lure the Leixlip native away from the Bees. They are in no rush to sell a player who joined two years ago on a six-year contract. But that hasn't stopped United, Liverpool and Spurs, managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, from taking an interest, according to the report. Collins has been the subject of several big-money moves already in his career. Burnley signed him from Stoke, before Wolves broke the all-time record fee for an Irish player when they paid €23million in 2022 for the defender. Brentford went even higher a year later when they forked out around €27million for Collins. United, Liverpool and Spurs are all eager to add to their defensive ranks before the transfer window closes. Collins has already been capped 30 times for Ireland and has worn the captain's armband for his country in the absence of Seamus Coleman.
