Matthew Poon keen to deliver more Joy for Ricky Yiu at Sha Tin on Sunday
A week after landing the biggest success of his career aboard $34.5 chance Straight Arron, Poon will look to strike with the Yiu-trained Dragon Joy in Sunday's Class Three Wu Yee Sun And Lee Woo Sing Alumni Handicap (1,600m).
After jumping from double-figure alleys in four straight runs, Poon hopes the benefit of gate two can help Dragon Joy improve on a last-start 12th under Karis Teetan where not a lot went right.
'Of course barrier two helps a lot. The last two times I rode him, I drew outside and this time I've drawn inside, so I think it will make some difference,' said Poon, who piloted Dragon Joy to a win and then an eighth from his two runs before his ninth under Teetan.

'I think the key also is to just let him jump and if he can be closer, I'll just let him do it. I don't think I'll chase him too much, but I've got an inside draw and I won't be too far back.
'He's only a young horse and he keeps improving. He can handle the work and you can see when I won on him, he finished off really well. I still think he can keep improving.'
Four-year-old Dragon Joy faces the likes of Star Mac, Sky Jewellery and Flying Luck in Sunday's finale and Poon is eager to further repay Yiu's faith in him.
'I can't thank the Ricky Yiu stable [enough]. Ricky has given me a lot of good support this season. I need to do my best to get the best results for him,' said Poon, who also rides Little Squid for Yiu this weekend.

Also among Poon's book is the Mark Newnham-trained Snowfield in the afternoon's Class Two, the Faculty Of Education Alumni Handicap (1,600m).
A Group One winner over 1,500m and 1,600m in his native Brazil, Snowfield was sixth over 1,400m in his Hong Kong debut and he should enjoy the step up in trip.

HK racing off-season update: Badel in flying form in Japan while Chung has first British ride
Alexis Badel has been firing in the winners in Japan. Photo: Kenneth Chan Matthew Poon is also in Britain and has been riding out for a Newmarket stable Alexis Badel rode a brilliant treble at Chukyo racecourse on Sunday to continue his great start to his summer stint in Japan. The French rider was granted a short-term licence by the JRA and has wasted little time in making his mark, riding a trio of winners on his first race weekend. Winning on outsider Saccarello on his first ride last Saturday, Badel then struck on Mediterranean for Northern Farm – who are sponsoring his licence – and Peaceful Night the next day. That was part of another treble on the weekend for the 35-year-old, who also secured wins aboard Arrondie and Ma Vie. Fallen Angel wins Prix Rothschild as Hamelin returns home Outgoing Hong Kong jockey Antoine Hamelin had his first ride back home in France at Clairefontaine on Saturday. He survived a steward's inquiry to beat the favourite January - trained by Aidan O'Brien - by a head, rallying back to the lead after being headed 50 metres out under Danny Tudhope. It was a frustrating weekend on the simulcast cards for O'Brien, who also saw short-price favourite Garden Of Eden finish only ninth in the Group One Henkel-Preis der Diana (2,200m) at Dusseldorf. Poon was riding out for trainer Alice Haynes at Newmarket, while Chung was in racing action at Windsor last Monday for Craig Benton. He was riding 100-1 shot Dreamcrafter and was down the field as expected, but it was more good experience for 28-year-old.

Chan described the victory as a thrilling surprise. 'We feel very happy because this is our first World University Games. Our original aim was to fight for a medal. We never imagined winning gold. Being able to win makes us feel very surprised,' he said. Yiu expressed special gratitude to head coach Chan Kong-wah, who came out of retirement to lead the SAR team. He said the coach's encouragement was crucial, especially after a difficult quarter-final men's team match, where Yiu lost both games he played. 'When I almost broke down after the team event loss, he never gave up on me and kept encouraging me to fight and forget the games. He lent me a hand to pull me up when I was at my lowest. I really want to thank him for this gold,' he said. Hong Kong, China has so far won seven medals at this year's World University Games, including two golds, one silver, and four bronzes.
