'The Prince is back'- Santos hails Neymar's return
Jan 31 (Reuters) - Neymar has left Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal to return to Santos, the Brazilian club where both he and Pele made their names.
Santos posted a video captioned "ThePrinceIsBack" on X in which Neymar said: "King Pele, your wish is my command, the throne and the crown they are still yours, because you are eternal.
"But the number 10, it will be an honour to wear the sacred jersey that represents so much for Santos and the world. I promise to do everything I can to keep honouring your legacy, King."
Neymar, 32, began his career aged 17 with Santos in 2009, racking up 136 goals and 64 assists in 225 matches to help the club secure their first Copa Libertadores title in nearly 50 years in 2011.
He joined Barcelona in 2013, before moving to Paris St Germain for a world record fee of 222 million euros in August 2017.
Neymar has played only seven games for Al-Hilal since moving from PSG for a reported fee of around 90 million euros ($98 million) in August 2023.

Nicolas Jackson is suspended for Chelsea's final Club World Cup group match against ES Tunis tonight. The Senegal international was dismissed just four minutes after coming off the bench in Friday's Group D clash with Brazilian side Flamengo, who came from behind to seal a 3-1 win. It came just as his side had conceded two goals to surrender their first-half lead, leaving his teammates and manager Enzo Maresca in a desperate situation. Jackson caught Flamengo defender Ayrton Lucas high as he clamped down on the defender to earn his second straight red card in just over a month. The 24-year-old was given his marching orders in the Premier League meeting against Newcastle United in May. Just 36 minutes into the match, Jackson was judged to have elbowed Sven Botman, earning himself an early bath. Neymar extends contract with boyhood club Santos until year's end
June 24 (Reuters) - Brazilian forward Neymar has signed a six-month contract extension with Santos, his boyhood club announced on Tuesday. The deal means the 33-year-old remains with Santos until the end of the year, with the possibility of renewing after it expires. "I made a decision and I listened to my heart. Santos is not just my team; it is my home, my roots, my history and my life. I grew up here and became a man here. I am truly loved here. Here I can be myself and be truly happy," Neymar said in a statement. Since returning to Santos in January, Neymar has only played in four Brazilian Championship matches due to a thigh injury that left him sidelined for more than a month. He also tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month. Santos are currently 15th in the Brazilian Serie A table.
