Bookmakers put Lottie Woad as the betting favorite heading into AIG Women's British Open
How dominant is Woad right now? She's 55 under par in her last 12 rounds on the LET and LPGA, beating the field on average by five strokes with a 67.3 scoring average.
Former British Open champ Catriona Matthew captained Woad at the Curtis Cup last year at Sunningdale and compared her to a young Karrie Webb.
'She's not out there for the glitz and the glam,' said Matthew, 'she just wants to be as good a golfer as she can be and go out and beat everyone.'

It's how she's doing the winning that's impressive too, Matthew notes, taking Augusta National by storm with three birdies over the last four holes in 2024, running away from the field at the Irish Open to win by six, closing with a 64 at Evian to secure her LPGA card and then staring down major champions in Scotland to win by two.
Woad, now playing in her eighth major championship, certainly isn't scared.
'All the players out there can hit the shots,' said Matthew, 'but what makes her special is that she can do it when she has to.'
After her big win in Scotland, securing LPGA status through 2027, Woad and her family made the seven-hour drive to Wales to prep for her fourth major start of the season. After a missed cut at the Chevron, Woad tied for 31st at the U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills and finished one shot shy of a playoff at the Amundi Evian Championship, taking a share of third with Minjee Lee.
Woad plans to buy a car with $300K purse
With her first tournament paycheck of $300,000, Woad plans to buy a new car when she gets back to the United States and, as was revealed on the broadcast last week, get a driver's license.
She's seemingly taking it all in stride with a quiet confidence.
'I feel good, obviously,' said Woad. 'I don't feel too different, to be honest.'
World No. 1 Nelly Korda played alongside Woad in the first three rounds of the Scottish Open and was impressed with her composure and process, noting that while others tend to fidget and change things in the heat of battle, Woad stuck to her routine and looked comfortable. The elder Korda, who turned 27 on Monday, called Woad 'absolutely amazing.'
'It was great for me that I got to play with her my pro debut,' said Woad of Korda. 'She's someone I've always looked up to. She's obviously an amazing player and a great competitor, and to hear she said something like that is really nice.'

Even Ko, the most recent inductee of the LPGA of Fame, noted in her pre-tournament presser that she's looking forward to seeing what she can learn from Woad playing alongside her in the first two rounds.
'Just because you're a higher-ranked player doesn't mean that there's something that I can't learn from somebody else,' said Ko. 'She's obviously playing great golf. I've seen her swing, and my coach has sent me a video of her swing as well because there's aspects that I'm kind of going for that she has.'
The Irish Open has been on and off the LET's schedule over the past 30 years, but, as noted in the LPGA's KPMG Performance Insights, Woad became only the second player to win the Irish and Scottish Opens in the same season, joining fellow Englishwoman Laura Davies (1994). No player has won the Irish, Scottish and British in the same year.
What's the potential for Woad? Matthew is careful with her predictions, noting that Rose Zhang dramatically won her pro debut two years ago at the Mizuho Americas Open and then stalled.
'Obviously, you don't want to overhype it and go too over-the-top,' said Matthew, 'but the potential is there and the sky's the limit at the moment.'

Aaron Donald takes 4 of the top-10 best DT seasons since 2019
It's hard to pick another defensive tackle better than Los Angeles Rams legend Aaron Donald. The Rams' star made the Pro Bowl all 10 years he played in the NFL, as well as eight first-team All-Pro teams and three NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards. He was a top-5 vote-getter for DPOY four other teams, too. So, it's not terribly surprising that some of Donald's seasons rank among the best by a defensive tackle over the past six seasons. But, according to Pro Football Network, Donald's four best seasons took the top-four spots in their top-10 rankings since 2019. These were ranked on PFN's DT+ metric. Here's how the seasons broke down for Donald: Now, it should be noted that Donald's 2018 season, when he led the NFL with 20.5 sacks, wasn't included because it predated the 2019 cut-off. But the rest of these seasons make sense. Donald tallied 12.5 sacks in 2021 with 19 tackles for a loss, 25 quarterback hits and four forced fumbles in the Rams' Super Bowl-winning year. He also came in third for DPOY. In 2019, Donald led the NFL with 20 tackles for a loss to go with his 12.5 sacks and 24 quarterback hits. He finished fifth in DPOY. Oddly enough, Donald's best statistical season and third DPOY award ranked third on this list. He tallied 13.5 sacks — his second most in a season after his 2018 year — with 14 tackles for a loss, 28 quarterback hits and a NFL-leading approximate value (via Pro Football Reference) of 23. Donald's final NFL season in 2023 ranked fourth on the list. He registered eight sacks, 16 tackles for a loss and 23 quarterback hits. While he didn't make the DPOY top-5, he finished ninth in Comeback Player of the Year after he missed six games in 2022. Donald was one of the best defensive players of the past decade and played every year for the Rams. It will be tough for any defensive tackle in the near future to come close to the accomplishments of Donald.

Raiders trade young cornerback Jakorian Bennett to Eagles in surprise move
The Eagles are always wheeling and dealing. In the wee hours of Monday night, the Eagles traded interior defensive lineman Thomas Booker to the Raiders in exchange for outside cornerback Jakorian Bennett, in a deal that took some by surprise. Booker, 25, was originally drafted by the Texans in the fifth round in 2022 before becoming a rotation player for the Super Bowl-winning Eagles last season. Getty Images Booker played in all 21 games — including the postseason — for Philadelphia, although he never started a game with stars Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis clogging things up in the middle. Bennett, 24, is largely regarded as a promising young cornerback. The trade sent some fans into rage. As a 23-year-old, Bennett started in 11 games over the past two years after he was drafted in the fourth round in 2023 out of Maryland. Bennett is the only cornerback in the NFL with 300-plus defensive snaps who did not allow a touchdown in 2024. Bennett also allowed less than 5.5 yards per target and sub-70 passer rating when targeted, the only cornerback to accomplish this last season. Cornerback depth is always in high demand in the NFL, where stopping the pass is the highest priority. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has a reputation as being one of the shrewdest traders in the NFL — while the Raiders, though under new leadership now with minority owner Tom Brady and first-year GM John Spytek, have been a laughingstock in recent seasons. Some have been criticizing the Raiders for trading with the Eagles for a defensive lineman after they waived another defensive lineman last season in Byron Young, who eventually went on to be claimed by Philadelphia and could take the spot vacated by Booker. Newcastle United performance analysts hold Seoul seminar
Joe Friar and Matthew Hutchinson presented to counterparts from the K League at the Korea Football Association's headquarters in Jongno-gu on Thursday. The pair - who hosted a similar session in Japan last summer during United's trip to Tokyo - offered insights into the Magpies' analysis department, from first-team level down to the Academy, and shared knowledge at the workshop-style event. "Some of the clubs in the K League have a smaller analysis provision than ours, so to be able to give them an insight into how our department and what we do was great," explained First Team Performance Analyst Hutchinson, who joined Newcastle United in 2021. "Hopefully they got a lot from it - there were some brilliant questions at the end and even after the seminar, a lot of people came up to talk to us about how we do things and what they do. It was nice to speak to like-minded people on the other side of the world." United's analysis department is led by First Team Coach Analyst Jordan Tribe and Head of Performance Analysis Tom Coffield, and Friar and Hutchinson are part of a talented team based at the club's Benton HQ to study opponents' strengths and weaknesses and work on marginal gains ahead of each matchday. Senior Performance Analyst (Training) Friar, who has been with the club since 2015, added: "We spoke a lot about how performance analysis links in to different departments at the club and supports the coaching process, and heard about the various differences in the way we work compared to the K League and vice versa. "It was a really cool experience to present in front of so many people in a place like that and to see their enthusiasm for analysis, even if they might not have the same resources as we're lucky enough to have. "They're sometimes operating with just one or two people but their enthusiasm is so high and they were so keen to take on board what we had to say. "It's something we really like to do if it helps people - and we were even taken out afterwards by the K League for a Korean meal! We were able to chat more about football and the previous night's game against Team K League, as well as the Premier League and the latest trends." United took on Arsenal in Singapore before heading to South Korea, where they faced Team K League and Tottenham Hotspur. And Hutchinson added: "It's been class. They're two parts of the world I'd never seen before; starting in Singapore was amazing and the game, stadium and event was brilliant. "Then we arrived in South Korea which is a fantastic place and the people in both countries have been great. It's so good to see people with Newcastle United tops on so far away from home."
