Inside Shankar Mahadevan's six-floor luxury home in Mumbai with home theater, swimming pool, and recording studio: ‘This is Antilia,' says Farah Khan

Celebrated music composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan lives in a sprawling six-floor residence in Navi Mumbai with his wife Sangeetha and their sons, Siddharth and Shivam. Shankar moved into this grand home about five years ago, and recently, choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan paid him a visit — instantly comparing it to Mukesh Ambani's Antilia.
The tour began with a surprise. As soon as Farah Khan stepped inside, she was greeted by a gleaming garage housing Shankar Mahadevan's prized car collection, including a vintage Chevrolet. Unable to resist, she delivered her signature line: 'Hum kitne gareeb hai.'
From the lobby, they accessed a secret lift behind a concealed door. 'Look at this, James Bond ka lift!' Farah exclaimed to her cook Dilip. Turning to the lift operator, she asked how many floors the building had. 'Six,' he replied. 'All Shankar's?' she asked. 'Yes,' came the answer. Farah sighed dramatically: 'I should have been a music director.'
When they finally reached the main floor, Farah was in awe. 'Yeh kya ghar hai yaar, Shankar? No wonder you live in Navi Mumbai,' she quipped, adding, 'I really should have learnt music.' Ever humble, Shankar said, 'Hum gareeb aadmi hai.' Farah shot back, 'This looks like a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set!'
Shankar Mahadevan revealed he had recently built an in-house recording studio, eliminating his daily commute. Farah Khan joked, 'You've literally made your own Antilia here,' to which Shankar replied, 'Yours is no less.'
In the kitchen, Shankar prepared his signature potli prawns for Farah, assisted by his culinary team — head cook Lakshmi, along with Seema and Jyoti. Pointing to his industrial-grade oven, Shankar beamed, 'You'll find this in every five-star hotel. My son Siddharth gifted it to me for my 50th birthday.'
Farah's eyes lit up when she spotted Shankar's Grammy. 'Only the Oscar left now!' she teased. He also proudly displayed his Padma Shri, adding that he is the only person to have won National Awards both as a singer and composer.
Next stop: the swimming area, complete with a large jacuzzi, an LED TV, a dining space, and seating for 20. 'We watch cricket matches here with friends, sitting in the pool,' Siddharth Mahadevan revealed. Farah Khan, once again, turned to Dilip with mock despair: 'Dilip, hum kitne gareeb hai.'
During the tour, Shankar shared his upcoming venture — Malgudi, a chain of authentic South Indian restaurants under the Eutopia group. 'It's not just one restaurant — we'll have outlets in Borivali, Chembur, and Lower Parel. Every dish is curated by me, including a 100-year-old recipe for Mulbagal dosa that you've probably never tasted,' he said with pride.
The final stop was Shankar Mahadevan's plush home theatre. 'This is where we watch Netflix and other shows,' he told a stunned Farah Khan. His wife Sangeetha added with a laugh, 'We can't afford a house like this in Lokhandwala.' Shankar chimed in, 'We're not part of the film fraternity.' Farah deadpanned, 'Yeah, sure. You're too poor. This is bigger than most studios in Bombay — okay, maybe not Yash Raj, but still huge!'
The visit wrapped up with Shankar Mahadevan, Farah Khan, and Dilip recording a special song together.

Farah Khan takes a sarcastic ‘swim' jibe after heavy rains leave Mumbai streets waterlogged

Heavy rains in Mumbai on Saturday left the city streets waterlogged, affecting traffic in several areas. Filmmaker Farah Khan, who had stepped out of her home on a rainy day, also encountered a traffic snag on an inundated street. However, Farah, with her sense of humour, shared a short clip of a waterlogged street on her Instagram story, and sarcastically wrote: 'Anyone for a morning swim?' In the Instagram story, filmed from inside her car, Farah noticed a waterlogged stretch where the road was completely submerged by rainwater. The sight of a line of autos waiting by the roadside made the street look more like a stream than a busy Mumbai lane. Farah Khan also gave a nostalgic twist to her Instagram story with an evergreen Kishore Kumar track – Nadiya Se Dariya. Farah Khan's IG story The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai and its surrounding areas on Saturday. The IMD predicted thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds of up to 40 kmph and said heavy rains (more than 15 mm per hour) were very likely over the Mumbai Suburban area. A red alert was also issued for Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Nanded, Parbhani, and Hingoli districts in Maharashtra. The rainfall is likely to continue tomorrow as the IMD predicted Mumbai rains till August 19, issuing an orange alert. Taking note of the incessant rains, the BMC appealed to citizens to avoid stepping out of their homes. 'Special attention is being given to critical services such as the rainwater drainage system, sewage system, and pumping stations, with necessary measures being promptly implemented to ensure there are no disruptions in the drainage of rainwater,' it added. The downpour began around 1 am on Saturday and continued into the early hours of the day, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas of the western and eastern suburbs, including Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Bhandup, Chunabhatti, Aarey, Andheri, Kings Circle, Malad, and Goregaon, among others.

Emma Stone Recalls 'Special Time' Working with Ex-Boyfriend Andrew Garfield on Spider-Man: 'I Loved...'

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield's onscreen chemistry in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was adored by the fans. Reflecting on her working experience with Garfield, who also happens to be her ex, Stone revealed that she loved filming for the Marvel movie and went on to call it a 'special time' in her life. The two-time Oscar winner sat down for a conversation with Vogue, where she talked about how the people around her on the film sets made her experience on the movie better. Emma Stone talks about working with Andrew Garfield While in an interview with the media portal, Emma Stone claimed that she loved doing Spider-Man. The actress explained, "I mean, I really loved doing Spider-Man. I loved everyone I worked with. I met Andrew there. I met Sally Field and Marc Webb was wonderful. It was really a special time in my life." She further added, "The recurring theme is the people; more than kind of like the film itself, it's what sticks with me for so long. And so I have only, like, the fondest memories of this whole experience." However, the only complaint the Poor Things star had about the film was the press tours. She recalled covering nine countries in two weeks and being completely jet-lagged: "I felt truly psychotic the entire time." Previously in the interviews, Andrew Garfield too has sung praises of filming The Amazing Spider-Man series. In his 2021 conversation with Variety, the actor stated that his experience was 'beautiful' because he 'got to meet Emma [Stone] and work with her' on the sets. Meanwhile, the actor and the Eddington star went on to date for four years and called it quits by the end of 2015. As for the film, Stone's character of Gwen Stacy passes away in the final moments, while Garfield reprises his role of Spider-Man/Peter Parker in the latest release of the franchise, Spider-Man: No Way Home, alongside Toby Maguire and Tom Holland. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is available to stream on Prime Video.

Timothée Chalamet returns to the big screen with Marty Supreme post Oscars snub; everything to know

After his 2024 Oscar snub for A Complete Unknown, where Timothée Chalamet earned his second Best Actor nomination for his turn as Bob Dylan (the first was in 2018 for Luca Guadagnino's Call Me by Your Name) — the actor is finally back on screen, and fans couldn't be happier. Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme A24 has just dropped the first trailer for Marty Supreme, Josh Safdie's 1950s-set sports dramedy that sees Chalamet swap guitar strings for ping pong paddles. The film follows Marty Mauser, a gifted but underestimated table tennis player determined to earn the respect he deserves. But this isn't just a sports flick — it's packed with scandal, glamour, and chaos, as Marty embarks on an affair with a silver screen siren (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) while navigating the cutthroat world of competitive ping pong. The all-star cast is as unexpected as the plot: Fran Drescher as Marty's mother, rapper Tyler, the Creator, magician Penn Jillette, Odessa A'zion, Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary, and filmmaker Abel Ferrara all make appearances. Safdie, known for the anxiety-inducing brilliance of Uncut Gems, hasn't directed a solo feature in over a decade — so expectations are high. Chalamet even trained extensively to get his paddle skills on point. Cinematographer Darius Khondji revealed earlier this year that the actor 'wanted to be like a real [professional] ping pong player when he started shooting.' And the internet? They've already declared this a win. 'Shout out to Timmy for finding the only sport where could conceivably play a pro athlete,' joked one YouTube user. 'Yeah at this point i'm more than comfortable and confident in saying that timothée chalamet is the most exciting actor working today,' declared another. 'This looks good, but I had to go back during the casting to notice Tyler The Creator is part of the cast,' wrote one surprised fan. 'I didn't think a ping pong movie could look this intense but here we are,' said another. 'Was wondering if we'd ever get a Timothee chalamèt movie this year,' added one. And perhaps the most poetic of all: 'This trailer just served me life lessons via ping pong.' If the trailer is anything to go by, Marty Supreme is shaping up to be the kind of unexpected, slightly chaotic, and completely charming ride that only Timothée Chalamet — and a paddle — could deliver.
