Mariah Carey mercilessly mocked over BET Awards performance as fans accuse her of lip syncing

Mariah Carey made a jaw-dropping appearance at the BET Awards on Monday night. Not only did the legendary diva, 56, receive the coveted Icon Awards, she was also one of the best-dressed stars at the event. However, some fans were underwhelmed when Mimi took to the stage to perform her new single Type Dangerous. Despite looking like a million bucks, the Honey hitmaker barely moved while performing the hip-hop track. 'I love Mariah but one thing she's not gonna do is dance! Well still love her music though,' commented one. 'She's been in this industry too long to just be standing there like that,' wrote another. 'I remember when Mariah divorced Tommy [Mottola] and danced for a whole album before she decided that was enough,' joked a third. One naysayer even compared Mariah to her longtime rival Jennifer Lopez. 'The way she needs help going down a small flight of stairs is hilarious, and then you have JLo doing back flips and front flips on stage dancing salsa and hip hop at the level of 20- to 30-year-old professional dancers,' they wrote. 'She is the most boring entertainer I've ever seen,' added another. Some fans also claimed that songstress may have been lip syncing her performance. 'Mariah please lip sync more convincingly!!' wrote one, while another wrote, 'Mariah was stiff as hell lip syncing up there but that's MOTHER so I'll let it slide.' Despite some backlash, many others defended Mariah and insisted that she'd earned the right to perform however she wants to after such a long and illustrious career. 'The only woman in the industry that cannot move the entire time and still shut the stage down,' gushed one. 'Don't disrespect the legend. Expecting Mariah to dance is like expecting Aretha (RIP) to dance. DIVAS don't dance,' wrote another. While her performance left a little to be desired, Mimi certainly turned heads with her ageless good looks at the awards show. The 56-year-old looked shockingly youthful in a stunning gold sequined minidress to perform her latest hit. The beauty, who wore her long blond hair pin straight with a middle part, also pulled out a glittering white corset dress for later in the ceremony. It had a prominent bust and sparkling sequins that complemented the tear-shaped diamonds on her necklaces and earrings, as well as her glittering bracelets. She was honored with the BET Ultimate Icon Award along with other stars, including Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg and Kirk Franklin. Mariah is currently preparing to release her 16th studio album. According to Forbes, the songstress, who has had 19 number one singles, is aiming to get her 20th chart topper with her new single Type Dangerous. 'She's fighting to stay contemporary,' her longtime producer LA Reid told the publication. Mariah left her label Epic Records, who released her last album Caution, to partner with new music company Gamma for her comeback.

Victoria Beckham looks effortlessly chic in a red shirt and flared jeans from her own brand as she steps out in Paris amid ongoing family feud

Victoria Beckham looked effortlessly chic as she stepped out in Paris wearing an ensemble made up of almost entirely her own brand. The Spice Girl, 51, slipped into a smart red shirt and flared indigo jeans from her range as she strutted down the street in the French capital. Victoria accessorised her stylish looked with oversized shades, finishing off her look with Hermes Birkin Kelly bag draped over her shoulder. The brunette beauty was also seen carrying a tan jacket in her hand should the weather take a turn for the worst. The fashion designer appeared in good spirits despite her and husband David, 50, being in the midst of an escalating rift with eldest son Brooklyn Beckham and his actress wife, Nicola Peltz. Victoria Beckham looked effortlessly chic as she stepped out in Paris wearing an ensemble made up of almost entirely her own brand The Spice Girl, 51, slipped into a smart red shirt and flared indigo jeans from her range as she strutted down the street in the French capital Brooklyn, 26, appeared to make his feelings clear in an Instagram video shared in May, in which he pledged his unwavering loyalty to Nicola, 30 - the daughter of Miami-based billionaire businessman and investor Nelson Peltz. The influencer whisked his wife off for an early morning motorbike ride and captioned the video: 'My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby.' Those close to the Beckhams have now told The Sun that the message seemed 'very pointed'. The insider added: 'It shows how much this situation with his family has escalated. 'It's very sad for everyone involved, especially David and Victoria who love him very much. This isn't the Brooklyn his family knows and loves. 'This post was like a dagger to their hearts but they will always be there for Brooklyn.' Hours after the post, Cruz, the Beckhams' youngest son waded in on the row for the first time by writing an Instagram post in support of his parents, showing he does not side with Brooklyn. The 20-year-old musician wrote: 'I love my family. I love you guys more than anything, mum and dad you gave us life and cared for us no matter what, I cannot tell you how blessed we are to have you in our lives.' David and Victoria have resigned to the fact that they have become estranged from their beloved son after he failed to attend any of the football ace's 50th birthday celebrations last month. 'This post was like a dagger to their hearts but they will always be there for Brooklyn,' a source said on Monday Despite flying to London, Brooklyn and Nicola didn't attend the big family party at the Beckhams' Cotswolds home or an idyllic trip to France or a meal at Notting Hill restaurant, Core. Last month, there was further proof of the irreparable nature of the rift when Brooklyn and Nicola jetted to the capital from their home in Los Angeles for a joint photoshoot with Italian luxury fashion brand Moncler. It took place less than two miles away from the Beckham family home in Holland Park, west London. Brooklyn didn't even tell David and Victoria they were in the country - let alone meet with them. Harper - who turns 14 in July - was exceptionally close with Brooklyn and Nicola, who often shared pictures of her on Instagram gushing over the teen and calling her 'my younger sister'. attend her 14th birthday celebrations.

Near hits: 13 songs performed by artists after being turned down by musicians

Would Kylie's recent smash hit Padam Padam have been quite as successful if it had been sung by Rita Ora? That's the question being asked by Ora herself, after admitting she nearly sang it. The 2023 track, penned by Lostboy, was initially considered for Rita Ora before it ultimately became Kylie Minogue's much-lauded comeback hit. Despite this, the 34-year-old singer has expressed no ill will about not recording the song. Speaking to the Daily Star, the British singer revealed that there were no hard feelings that the Australian pop icon ended up performing the song instead: 'I've always grown up with this saying, 'What's for you won't pass you'. And that's always how I've lived my life. And it's Kylie Minogue - she's the queen of the world, in my opinion. So, of course, Kylie's going to get it and kill it and do a great job. 'And in the pop industry, that happens every day to a lot of big artists - you just don't know about it." But Rita Ora isn't the only musician who either turned down, or was passed over, a song that went on to become a smash hit for another pop culture icon. Check out 13 of the near hits that could have occurred if the butterfly effect had been different. 1 . Baby One More Time (Britney Spears) This iconic track was famously offered to R&B group TLC and Swedish singer Robyn. TLC reportedly passed on it because they felt it didn't fit their image, and Robyn wasn't ready to release it. Instead, it went to Britney Spears and launched her into superstardom, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, and topping the charts in the UK, Canada, Australia, and many other countries globally. | Getty Images Photo Sales 2 . Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen) This incredibly catchy pop anthem was reportedly offered to Selena Gomez and even Justin Bieber (before he championed Jepsen's version) who both passed on it. It then became a massive breakthrough hit for Carly Rae Jepsen, spending 9 consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and topping the charts in the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and numerous other countries worldwide. | Getty Images Photo Sales 3 . Don't Cha (The Pussycat Dolls ft. Busta Rhymes) This catchy track was reportedly offered to socialite Paris Hilton and the British girl group Sugababes before it became a breakout hit for The Pussycat Dolls. Don't Cha was a huge international success, peaking at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topping the charts in 15 countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, and Ireland. | Getty Images Photo Sales 4 . Gold Digger (Kanye West ft. Jamie Foxx) This massive hit was originally written by Kanye West with a female rapper, Shawnna, in mind, but she decided not to use it. Gold Digger was a colossal hit for Kanye West, spending 10 consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. It also reached number 2 in the UK and was a top 10 hit in Australia, Canada, and Ireland. | Getty Images Photo Sales
