The Oregon Ducks will hope to continue their success in the 2025-26 season after an incredible first year in the Big Ten Conference. Formerly of the Pac-12 Conference, the Ducks ran through the Big Ten to an undefeated regular-season record.

After the Ducks narrowly defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in a thriller, many thought they had what it took to win the College Football Playoff National Championship.
After defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Championship, the Ducks were awarded the No. 1 overall seed. However, almost a month off proved to be too much, as the Ducks fell in a rematch to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
Kenny Dillingham cites Oregon when making bold ASU claim
If things had fell differently, there would've been a slight chance that the Ducks could've matched up against one of their former Pac-12 rivals in the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The Sun Devils, coached by former Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham, also received a first-round bye for winning the Big 12 Championship, placing them on the same side of the bracket as Oregon and potentially setting up a semifinal matchup.
On3's Pete Nakos interviewed Dillingham, who spoke on building something special at Arizona State rather than looking to be hired at a bigger school. In the interview, he used Oregon and Clemson as two main examples.
'You have Clemson this last cycle, from 2010 to 2020. They just showed up. People think they've been around forever," said Dillingham. "You have Oregon from 2000 to 2010. You can go back in history and figure out which teams have shown up in which era.
"There hasn't been a team in this era, in the 2020s. The lifestyle you have in Arizona, if we can create some staff consistency, and then we're in a league where we can continually compete to win.'
While turning Arizona State into a powerhouse like those programs, it's not out of the question that they could be a perennial power in the Big 12 Conference. Under the new College Football Playoff format, the Sun Devils wouldn't have received a top-four seed, as they did last season.

The Sun Devils making the College Football Playoff is a considerable achievement in its own right. But now, a question arises. Can Dillingham do it again?

ESPN predicts win totals, playoff and championship odds for Alabama football in 2025
ESPN predicts win totals, playoff and championship odds for Alabama football in 2025 Alabama football will open the 2025 season with a new quarterback and new weapons at skill positions, including additions to its receiver room to complement star sophomore Ryan Williams and senior Germie Bernard. On defense, Alabama will be replacing Jihaad Campbell and Que Robinson at linebacker, plus defensive tackle Tim Smith and safety Malachi Moore. With Ty Simpson the favorite at quarterback and freshmen like Lotzeir Brooks and Derek Meadows at receiver along with Miami transfer Isaiah Horton, the Crimson Tide begin Year 2 under Kalen DeBoer looking to put a disappointing finish to its 2024 season behind them. On Tuesday, ESPN unveiled its first Football Power Index ratings (FPI) for the 2025 season. The FPI ratings are ESPN's best model for predicting a team's record, its chances of winning its conference and reaching the 12-team College Football Playoff and national championship game. FPI also tracks teams' strength of schedule, plus individual ratings for offense, defense and special teams. Alabama landed at No. 3 in ESPN's first FPI with a 24.2 overall rating. In national championship odds based on FPI, the Texas Longhorns, Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes were the only teams ahead of the Crimson Tide. Here's a breakdown of where Alabama landed in the FPI. ESPN FPI projections for Alabama football Projected wins: 9.6 Chances of reaching CFP: 66.2 percent (4th) Chances of winning SEC: 17.2 percent (3rd) Chances of reaching national championship game: 20.2 percent (4th) Chances of winning national championship: 10.4 percent (4th) Offensive rating: 11.8 (3rd) Defense rating: 11.3 (3rd) Strength of schedule ranking: 10th Alabama will again have one of the toughest schedules in the nation in 2025, with road trips to Georgia in Athens on Sept. 27 and its regular season finale at Auburn (Nov. 29). The Crimson Tide will face LSU and Tennessee in Tuscaloosa and will open the season in Tallahassee against Florida State on Aug. 30. What is ESPN FPI? ESPN explains FPI this way: "Just to refresh our memories, the FPI is a predictive rating system that estimates each FBS team's strength (in points per game relative to the national average) on offense, defense and special teams, making adjustments for starters lost, recruiting talent and other personnel changes. Those numbers are then plugged into the schedule, and everything is simulated 20,000 times to track each team's odds of winning its conference, making the playoff and advancing through to the national title." Court approves sale of Hudson's Bay trademarks to Canadian Tire
TORONTO - Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd.'s historic purchase of Hudson's Bay trademarks will go ahead after an Ontario judge granted permission for the deal. Judge Peter Osborne says the $30-million deal was the best possible outcome given the circumstances facing the Bay. The deal will give Canadian Tire rights to the Bay name, its coat of arms and its iconic stripes. Court documents have also shown the deal includes the Bay's Distinctly Home brand, its Hudson North apparel line, trademarks like 'Bay Days' and the Zellers catchphrase 'lowest price is the law' as well as a contract with Pendleton Woolen Mills, an Oregon-based blanket and clothing maker. The sale to Canadian Tire was the buzziest matter Osborne presided over Tuesday. At the same court hearing, he also approved a receivership application for a joint real estate venture Hudson's Bay was part of and made a declaration helping employees receive funding to recover from the collapse of their employer. The approvals came months after Canada's oldest company filed for creditor protection and days after it closed all 96 of the stores it ran under its Bay and Saks banners on Sunday. Osborne called the weekend closures 'a milestone, albeit an unhappy one' that amounts to 'the end of an era.' Hudson's Bay has said the sale and closures were necessary because the 355-year-old company was not able to attract an investor to keep some semblance of the current business alive. Canadian Tire, which also owns SportChek, Party City, Mark's and Pro Hockey Life, wound up being the winner of the Bay's trademarks after the ailing company and its advisers invited 407 people and firms to bid on the intellectual property and other assets. Ashley Taylor, a lawyer for Hudson's Bay, told Osborne that 17 bids were received. Thirteen were for intellectual property but Canadian Tire's was superior, he said. 'The Canadian Tire transaction represents the highest and best process offer resulting from a competitive process,' Taylor said. What precisely gave Canadian Tire the edge is contained in a document Taylor has asked the court to seal because it contains commercially sensitive information, including the amounts offered by the next highest bidders. Osborne granted the request. The Canadian Tire deal is the first of several Taylor is expected to ask a court to approve. He said Hudson's Bay will eventually return to court to get approval for B.C. mall owner Ruby Liu to take over up to 28 Bay leases to develop a new department store. That deal needs the support of landlords. He also teased that two other deals concerning some of the other properties the Bay used will be announced soon. The Canadian Tire deal was being discussed at a hearing that spanned several issues, including a joint real estate venture the Bay has with RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust. The venture has leases for 12 properties the department store used, but RioCan wanted to put the partnership into receivership to protect its stakeholders and maximize the value it can recover. Receivership is a process allowing a third-party to take control of a company's assets, oversee their liquidation and repay creditors. Joseph Pasquariello, a lawyer for RioCan, wanted FTI Consulting Canada appointed as the receiver because his client's 'dollars are on the line' and it wants timely solutions. Osborne approved Pasquariello's request, saying it was 'just and convenient.' Osborne also recognized Hudson's Bay as the former employer of all the department store's workers who have been terminated. The declaration allows Bay's 9,364 staff, including more than 8,300 who have already lost their jobs, to recoup money they may be owed from the retailer under the Wage Earner Protection Program Act. People who qualify under the federal program can earn up to $8,844.22 this year. This report by The Canadian Press was first published June 3, 2025. Companies in this story: (TSX:CTC.A, TSX:REI-UN)
