Elderly priest of temple found dead in Muzaffarpur
Associated with Ram Janki Muth, the priest went missing on Saturday night, prompting a search operation by the muth's officials and the police.
Locals suspect a land dispute related to the muth might be the motive behind the murder.
Police, however, said an investigation is going on.
The deceased was identified as Rambabu Singh (70), a resident of Bahadurpur village under Minapur police area. After receiving information from the local people, the police arrived at the banks of the river, conducted an investigation, and sent the body to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for an autopsy.
Muzaffarpur additional superintendent of police (ASP) East, Shahriyar Akhtar, said: "Initial police inquiries suggest the priest was killed somewhere else and then his body was dumped on the bank of the river."
He further said the preliminary investigation revealed that the priest lived in the muth with his attendant. Around midnight on Saturday, he went to sleep in his room, and the attendant went home. The villagers spotted his body on the banks of the river in the morning.

"There were some signs of injuries on the body. The forensic experts and the dog squad were called to gather evidence from the scene. The family has not reported any dispute or enmity with anyone. The police are investigating the case from other angles as well," the ASP added.

‘Speed up decision on database of fake rape complaints'
New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked Delhi Police and state govt to expeditiously decide a plea that wants a database of those who file multiple fake complaints of sexual offences, much along the lines of a sex offenders registry. A bench comprising Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela was hearing a PIL that sought its intervention in the form of directions to the police to make people aware of women who repeatedly file fake rape cases. Though declining to issue any directions, the court pointed out that the petitioner had already raised the issue by making a representation to Delhi Police and other authorities and the same should be decided by the authorities in a time bound manner. Fake ED officers rob trader of Rs 70 lakh, gold
1 2 Vijayawada: In a shocking case of impersonation and organised robbery, four individuals — two of them dressed in police uniform — allegedly posed as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials and fled with Rs 70 lakh in cash and some quantity of raw gold from a jeweller near Medikonduru on Sunday. The incident came to light after the trader lodged a formal complaint with the local police. According to Medikonduru circle inspector Nagul Meera, the complainant, Mani Jagadeesh, is a resident of Guntupalli in Ibrahimpatnam mandal. He is a recent entrepreneur, who opened a gold and silver testing shop named Sri Swami Samartha Gold & Silver Testing Centre in Vijayawada last month. Prior to this, Jagadeesh worked at a similar shop in Rajamahendravaram, where he came in contact with a person named Ranjith Maruthi Peta. Around 15 days ago, Ranjith contacted Jagadeesh and informed him about the availability of raw gold at Rs 5,000 per gram. Acting on the offer, Jagadeesh purchased five grams of raw gold through an unidentified person, paying Rs 25,000. Satisfied with the initial transaction, Jagadeesh later decided to procure two kilograms of raw gold at Rs 58 lakh per kilogram.
