Simu Liu and girlfriend Allison Hsu announce their engagement

AMERICA: CNA has reported that actor Simu Liu recently announced his engagement to Allison Hsu. Liu, 36, proposed to Alison Hsu, a marketing director, during a trip to Paris together. He then shared the good news on social media.
Liu captioned on Instagram, 'Us forever [ring and heart emojis]' together with a collection of photos featuring Hsu's sparkling engagement ring. Photo: Instagram/Simu Liu
In the photo, Liu and Hsu posed in front of the Eiffel Tower, hugging each other.
In a further post, Liu told Hsu, 'I will always and forever choose you, whether it's for long nights on set, weekend getaways to Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, afternoons lounging on the couch, and everything in between.'
Hsu wrote in reply: 'I love you fiance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' Congratulatory wishes
Celebrity friends congratulated Liu, who is most known for playing Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, replied: 'Ahhhhhh HOW FANTASTIC! I'm sending you both [heart emoji] love.
John Legend, husband to model Chrissy Teigen, also congratulated Liu and Hsu.
In addition, musician Finneas also congratulated the happy couple.
He said: 'YAYYYY CONGRATULATIONS!!!!' Hsu made him feel relieved
Liu and Hsu were initially romantically connected in late 2022. In 2023, Liu revealed their connection, telling People Magazine that meeting Hsu made him feel relieved.
The Shang-Chi actor told People how everyone knows that feeling of blah or not totally happy with things, and then something changes, and it's like this huge weight lifts off you.
He said it's like you suddenly realise, 'Oh yeah, this feeling of happiness actually exists!' He said you can start to wonder if you've just gotten used to wanting something that isn't even real, or if your expectations were just way off. Being a dad one day
According to Liu, he would love to be the father of Hsu's children one day. He definitely sees himself having children down the road, and he would be pretty surprised if he were not a dad in the next 10 years.
He also talked about how you get to this age where all your buddies, the ones you grew up with, just messing around and being little rebels, suddenly become responsible adults with kids. He's like, 'You look at these guys and you're just thinking, 'Wow, I never in a million years thought you would be in charge of another human being!'' It sounds like he's at that stage where everyone around him starts families.

King Of The Hill voice actor Jonathan Joss fatally shot outside his Texas home

Jonathan Joss, a voice actor best known for his work on the animated television series King Of The Hill, was fatally shot near his Texas home, authorities said Monday (Jun 2). Police were dispatched to a home in south San Antonio about 7pm Sunday on a shooting in progress call. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the wounded 59-year-old near the street. 'The officers attempted life saving measures until EMS arrived. EMS pronounced the victim deceased,' San Antonio police said in a statement. Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, confirmed the actor's death to The Associated Press in a text. The two were married earlier this year on Valentine's Day. In an email, San Antonio police did not immediately provide any information on what prompted the shooting. In a statement, de Gonzales said he and Joss had previously faced harassment, much of it 'openly homophobic'. Joss' husband said the person who killed the actor yelled 'violent homophobic slurs' before opening fire. 'He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,' de Gonzales said. Before the shooting, de Gonzales and Joss were checking mail at Joss' home, which had been heavily damaged during a January fire that claimed the lives of their three dogs. A man approached the two and threatened them with a gun, de Gonzales said. 'Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,' de Gonzales said in a statement. After the shooting, authorities arrested 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja and charged him with murder in Joss' death. Court records did not list an attorney who could speak on behalf of Ceja, who was being held in the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. In a statement, San Antonio police said its investigation 'has found no evidence whatsoever to indicate that Mr Joss's murder was related to his sexual orientation". 'We take such allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information. Should any new evidence come to light, we will charge the suspect accordingly," police said. Joss, who grew up in San Antonio, was best known as the voice of John Redcorn, a Native American character on the popular King Of The Hill animated series that ran for 13 seasons from 1997 to 2008. A reboot of the show is set to start in August. Joss also had a recurring role on the television show Parks And Recreation, playing Chief Ken Hotate. He appeared in two episodes of the series Tulsa King in 2022. A GoFundMe page had been set up in January for Joss after the house fire. According to the page, Joss had lost all of his belongings in the fire, including his vehicle. Before he was fatally shot, Joss had been in Austin, located about 80 miles (130 kilometres) northeast of San Antonio, for events related to a sneak peak of the King Of The Hill revival. On Saturday, Joss had posted a video on Instagram in which he said he was signing autographs at a comic book store in Austin. 'The fans get to revisit King Of The Hill again, which I think is an amazing thing because it's a great show,' Joss said in the video, adding he had already done voice work on four episodes of the revival. Joss' husband said Joss was grateful for his fans.

Andreeva keeps Kasatkina's wristband as reminder of French Open win

PARIS :Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva will hang on to the sweat-soaked wristband that Australia's Daria Kasatkina jokingly threw towards her at the net as a souvenir of their entertaining French Open clash on Monday. The prodigious 18-year-old underlined her credentials as a Roland Garros title contender by outwitting her frequent practice partner and 17th seed Kasatkina 6-3 7-5 to storm into the quarter-finals for a second straight year. Last year's semi-finalist approached the net to shake the hand of the Russian-born Kasatkina after the match and was met with a soggy wristband flying in her direction instead. "She's a great person and a great player. I had a feeling that after the match she's going to do something like this, and I knew that if I would lose I would also do something funny," sixth seed Andreeva told reporters. "When she threw her wristband at me, it was funny. It was a nice gesture from her. "After that, we exchanged kind words, and she told me congratulations. Of course, I said it was a good match. I kept the wristband so it's going to be in my bag for now." Andreeva joked in her on-court interview that she practised with Kasatkina only because she "hated" her and later said that a changed mindset helped her avenge a three-set defeat by the 28-year-old in the Ningbo final last year. "When I first played Dasha, it was much more difficult for me to stay focused and not to be nice on the court," she said. "Compared to the last match, today I knew that she's going to want to beat me on the court. I don't know what changed, but today was not that hard to change my mindset and step on court and be opponents. "I don't know how, but I managed to tell myself that I'm playing against the ball, not against the opponent. I just tried to focus on the ball that I have to hit, and I was able to keep this focus throughout the whole match so I'm proud of myself."

Djokovic hits French Open ton, Sinner sublime, Bublik stuns Draper

PARIS :Three-times champion Novak Djokovic reached a century of wins at the French Open in a straight sets victory against Cameron Norrie on Monday and top seed Jannik Sinner produced another masterclass to also blaze into the quarter-finals. Men's fifth seed Jack Draper bowed out though, as did women's third seed Jessica Pegula who was stunned by world France's world number 361 Lois Boisson. Serbian Djokovic, the sixth seed, looked serene in outclassing Britain's Norrie 6-2 6-3 6-2 to edge closer to a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. Djokovic became the second man to win 100 matches at the Paris Grand Slam after retired 14-times champion Rafael Nadal (112), to set up a last-eight clash against Alexander Zverev. "It's a number which is very good and nice, but a 101st win is even better," Djokovic, who won the Olympic gold medal last year in Paris to complete his trophy cabinet, told the appreciative crowd in fluent French. "It's not finished for me here the tournament and I feel very good and good to make history here. I hope there will be another win here in two days." His German opponent in the last eight spent even less time on the court, third seed Zverev punching his ticket when Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor retired midway through the second set with an abdominal injury. Zverev has reached his seventh French Open quarter-final in the last eight years and is still looking to secure a maiden Grand Slam title. "From now on I have the toughest draw in the tournament," Zverev said. "I'm looking forward to the battles ahead, and I'm looking forward to playing the best in the world." SUBLIME SINNER World number one Sinner lit up the night session with a sublime display to beat Andrey Rublev 6-1 6-3 6-4 and stretch his winning streak in Grand Slam play to 18 matches. Italian Sinner, the U.S. and Australian Open champion, has won all 12 sets he has played this year on Parisian clay and looks in ominous form as he closes on a first French Open title. While Djokovic, Sinner and Zverev were all smiles, Britain's dark horse Draper was heading for home after succumbing to a mesmeric display by Kazakh Alexander Bublik, who a few months ago questioned his future having dropped down the pecking order. The 27-year-old, among the most naturally gifted players on tour who has admitted to lacking the commitment of other top professionals, seized his moment to drop shot his way past young gun Draper to reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final. Bublik, who had never got past the second round in Paris, hit a staggering 37 drop shots in his 5-7 6-3 6-2 6-4 win. "Standing here is the best moment of my life, period,", Bublik, in tears, told the crowd. "I'm standing here like I won the thing. I can't cry here, let me be in peace, I'm a professional tennis player, I've got one more match, I've got to get ready." Bublik's victory was the second upset of the day after unheralded Boisson shook up the women's draw with a shock 3-6 6-4 6-4 win over Pegula. Wild card Boisson outplayed the American favourite with the aid of a fierce forehand that had the Chatrier crowd on their feet. As if that was not enough for the home crowd, they also got to see the Champions League soccer trophy minutes later, after Paris St Germain's victory over Inter Milan on Saturday. PSG forward Ousmane Dembele carried it onto the court to ear-splitting cheers as his team became the second French outfit to lift the European Cup after Olympique de Marseille in 1993. Second seed Coco Gauff was in no mood for surprises, however, as she brushed aside Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-0 7-5 to stay on course for her first title in Paris. Gauff, who got to the final in 2022 and semis last year, is the youngest American to reach at least the fourth round at seven straight Grand Slams since Venus Williams from 1997-1999. The Americans are guaranteed a semi-finalist with Gauff next facing Australian Open champion Madison Keys, who eased past Hailey Baptiste. Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva also booked a last-eight spot by overcoming Australian 17th seed Daria Kasatkina 6-3 7-5 to become the youngest player to reach back-to-back French Open quarter-finals in nearly three decades.
