In Tracee Ellis Ross' new hair care ad, a 'Girlfriends' reunion
In a new commercial for the actress' hair care brand PATTERN, Ross, 52, gathers her girlfriends (literally). Joined by actresses Golden Brooks, Jill Marie Jones, and Persia White, Ross' former co-stars from the hit sitcom "Girlfriends," which aired on UPN from 2000-06 and the CW from 2006-08, the beauty mogul pulls off a reunion for the ages.
Getting all four leads in the same room (on video), Ross' ad draws on the dysfunctional hilarity that made "Girlfriends" a staple of the early aughts.

Fans of the show flooded the internet with excitement (and dreams of a larger reunion) after the ad dropped.
"First Brandy and Monica and now a Girlfriends reunion?!! Blessed are we," one user wrote in the comment section of Ross' Instagram post sharing the ad. Singers Monica and Brandy, who famously collaborated on the hit song "That Boy is Mine" in 1998, recently announced a joint tour, no doubt drawing on a similar nostalgia.
"We want a GIRLFRIENDS movie pleaseee," another commenter chimed in.

Ross, the daughter of music icon Diana Ross, grew her fame and acting career in the near-decade she spent playing Joan on "Girlfriends." Now a staple in the sitcom scene and a bona fide Hollywood star, she's expanded into the beauty market with PATTERN, which sells curl creams, gels and hot irons for hair of all textures.
"In this spot, we wanted to celebrate the styling rituals with our cast of various textures as well as reunite my 'Girlfriends' to show the joy that lives in our shared hair moments," the actress wrote in a release announcing the ad. "From curls, coils and tight textures to locs, fades, straight styles and more, PATTERN has got you covered."
Whether the ad will inspire a more concrete "Girlfriends" reunion remains to be seen, though Hollywood has certainly shown a penchant for revivals in recent years, bringing back everything from "Full House" to "Sex and the City."
In the meantime, Ross' ad ensured the fandom is at least well-fed.

Joy Reid says ‘mediocre white men' like Trump, Elvis steal culture from other races
Advertisement Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid condemned President Donald Trump, Elvis Presley and others on Friday as some of history's many 'mediocre White men' whose achievements are stolen or counterfeit. Reid criticized Trump's review of the Smithsonian during an interview with Wajahat Ali for his 'The Left Hook' substack, in an episode titled, 'How Mediocre White Men and Their Fragility Are Destroying America.' They argued that across America's institutions, there is a phenomenon of 'mediocre White men' with no actual culture of their own who co-opt the achievements of Black people to aggrandize themselves. Ali opened the episode by talking about Trump reforming the Kennedy Center in what his critics call a hostile takeover. The institution, which in recent years had featured drag queen performances, is now being reformed to show decidedly more conservative and pro-American content.
