CPO Futures End Lower On Rising Output Concerns
By Durratul Ain Ahmad Fuad KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- The crude palm oil (CPO) futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today due to concerns over rising production, according to palm oil trader David Ng. He said weaker soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade during Asian trading hours also weighed on market sentiment. 'The rising production is mainly due to seasonality. We see prices supported at RM3,800 per tonne and resistance at RM4,000 per tonne,' he told Bernama. At the close, the spot-month June 2025 and July 2025 contracts dropped RM42 each to RM3,904 per tonne and RM3,923 per tonne, respectively. August 2025 fell RM45 to RM3,903 per tonne, September 2025 and October 2025 declined RM47 each to RM3,890 per tonne and RM3,886 per tonne respectively, and November 2025 reduced RM40 to RM3,891 per tonne. Trading volume improved to 64,761 lots from 59,422 lots yesterday, while open interest edged up to 245,562 contracts from 245,345 contracts previously. The physical CPO price for June South decreased by RM50 to RM3,950 per tonne. -- BERNAMA

Oasis Home ends debut flat after volatile trade
OASIS Home Holding Bhd, Malaysia's first listed live commerce company last two weeks, ended its ACE Market debut with a marginal gain, navigating a choppy trading session amid cautious investor sentiment. The stock opened at 28.5 sen — just half a sen above its IPO price of 28 sen — before swinging between an intraday low of 25.5 sen and a high of 29 sen. It closed at 28.5 sen, up 1.8%, with nearly 38 million shares changing hands. Oasis Home's entry comes as investor confidence on the ACE Market remains fragile, following a string of weak debuts. Investor interest in Oasis Home was similarly muted ahead of listing day, with public tranche applications oversubscribed by just 0.55 times. The company markets and sells consumer lifestyle products — including kitchenware, personal care items, health supplements and small appliances — largely through live commerce sessions hosted on platforms like Facebook, TikTok and its proprietary app and website. Over 75% of its revenue is derived from these sessions. Oasis Home also maintains a presence on e-commerce marketplaces such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop and complements its online strategy with physical channels including product experience centres, mobile showrooms and warehouse sales. The IPO raised RM42 million for the company, more than half of which will be used to expand its live commerce infrastructure and build an in-house fulfilment centre. Additional proceeds will go towards setting up a new corporate headquarters, working capital and listing expenses. MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd served as the principal adviser, sponsor, underwriter, and placement agent for the IPO. — TMR This article first appeared in The Malaysian Reserve weekly print edition

Decade-long wait ends for buyers of abandoned Simpang Renggam housing project
JOHOR BARU: After more than a decade of waiting, buyers of the abandoned housing project in Taman Permata Layang, Simpang Renggam, Johor, have finally received their Eligibility Certificate for Home Ownership (SLMR). Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said he had the honour of personally handing over the certificates to the buyers of the project, which comprises 47 units of affordable homes priced from RM42,000 each. "This project is especially close to my heart as it is located in my own constituency of Simpang Renggam, and I have been championing it since I first became an elected representative. "Resolving the issue was no easy task — it required on-the-ground efforts, careful planning, and close collaboration between various agencies," he shared in a Facebook post yesterday. Onn Hafiz expressed hope that this achievement would serve as a stepping stone towards resolving other abandoned housing projects across Johor. He added that the state government remains committed to addressing sick and abandoned projects to prevent similar issues in the future. He also thanked Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, the Johor Housing Development Corporation, the South East Johor Development Authority, the Kluang District Office, and the Simpang Renggam District Council for their contributions in making the project a success.
