UK Athletics Limited was represented by Simon Antrobus KC, who entered the pleas on behalf of the organisation. An eight-week trial was set for October 12, 2026 at the Old Bailey and a case management hearing is to take place at the same court on December 12, 2025.

Oscar Pistorius makes his return to sport: Blade Runner is seen competing in triathlon 12 years after murdering Reeva Steenkamp

Oscar Pistorius completed a triathlon in his native South Africa this week as he readjusts to public life after being released from prison on parole last year. The 38-year-old former professional sprinter completed the Isuzu Ironman 70.3 competition in Durban on Sunday, June 1 in 5:56:39. Pistorius competed in the triathlon under race number 105, coming 555th among all participants and third in the 'physically challenged' category, per SportSplits. Netwerk24 cited an unnamed source as saying that Pistorius had permission from his parole officer to compete. Conrad Dormehl, an attorney for Pistorius, confirmed he had participated in the race. Singabakho Nxumalo, spokesperson of South Africa's Department of Correctional Services, said his parole officer would have needed to approve him travelling from where he lives to another district. Pistorius, dubbed 'Blade Runner' for his prosthetic legs, was released on parole last year after serving nine years behind bars for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp. In a case that shocked the world, the Paralympian shot and killed the 29-year-old model through a locked bathroom door on Valentine's Day in 2013. He repeatedly said he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder and launched multiple appeals against his conviction on that basis. Pistorius was freed from jail in January 2024 after completing more than half his sentence and is on parole until his sentence expires in 2029. The 38-year-old is now keeping a low profile at his uncle's plush multi-million pound home in Pretoria. Ahead of the triathlon on June 1, sources close to the Paralympian said that Pistorius was focusing on getting back into form. Mark Williams-Thomas, a detective-turned-broadcaster who remains in regular contact with Pistorius, told the Daily Telegraph earlier this year that 'he knows how important it is to keep fit and stay healthy'. 'When he came out [of prison], he was a shadow of himself,' he said. 'In the first early days, I would speak to him and he was just profoundly exhausted, mentally and physically. He is much better now.' Pistorius was also said to have been volunteering at a local church, where he sweeps floors, and has also launched a new charity. He was said to have dating business consultant Rita Greyling, the daughter of millionaire parents who have been friends with the Pistorius family for decades. Sources told MailOnline in December last year that Pistorius is 'besotted with her'. The Blade Runner never saw his disability as a hindrance to his life, and spent much of his early life playing a range of sports Pistorius, who has not confessed to murder, still has years left on parole and is not allowed to drink alcohol or handle guns. He must also keep out of Pretoria and Johannesburg nightclubs and live a reflective and reclusive a life as possible under its terms. He is visited on random days and times by parole officers from South Africa's Department of Correctional Services who check on him to see that he is keeping out of trouble, MailOnline reported last year. And he was undergoing anger management sessions to curb violent behaviour. Pistorius was ultimately given 13 years and five months in prison by South Africa's Court of Appeal in 2017, more than double his original sentence of six years. He was initially convicted of culpable homicide in 2014, before prosecutors pursued a murder charge. Pistorius has denied that he murdered Ms Steenkamp. He argued that in the early hours of that morning in 2013, he shot through the door because he believed an intruder had broken in. He fired four bullets through the locked door of a bathroom in his plush Pretoria home, three of which hit Reeva and caused mortal wounds. Pistorius was convicted of her murder in 2016.

Oscar Pistorius competes in triathlon 12 years after murdering girlfriend

JOHANNESBURG, June 5 (Reuters) - South African former Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius was spotted competing in a triathlon last weekend in the coastal city of Durban, 12 years after murdering his girlfriend and a year after his release on parole. Afrikaans-language news website Netwerk24 on Wednesday reported Pistorius' participation in the Ironman 70.3 competition. Netwerk24 cited an unnamed source as saying that Pistorius had permission from his parole officer to compete. Conrad Dormehl, an attorney for Pistorius, confirmed to Reuters that Pistorius had participated in the Durban race. Singabakho Nxumalo, spokesperson of South Africa's Department of Correctional Services, said he did not know whether Pistorius had received permission to compete, but would find out and respond to questions sent by Reuters. He said his parole officer would have needed to approve him travelling from where he lives to another district. Pistorius - dubbed "Blade Runner" for his carbon-fibre prosthetic legs - shot dead 29-year-old model Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door on Valentine's Day in 2013, in a crime that drew worldwide attention and shocked a nation inured to violence against women. He repeatedly said he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder and launched multiple appeals against his conviction on that basis. Pistorius, now 38, was freed from jail in January 2024 after completing more than half his sentence and is on parole until his sentence expires in 2029. Netwerk24 published a photograph of Pistorius riding a bicycle with the race number 105. Pistorius' distinctive tattoo and prosthetic legs were visible in the photograph. Reuters contacted the photographer who gave the news agency permission to publish images similar to the one Netwerk24 used. Results published online by sports-timing company SportSplits show an athlete called Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius competed in the triathlon under race number 105, coming 555th among all participants and third in the "physically challenged" category. The race involved a 2-km swim, a 90-km bike ride and a 21-km run - a total distance of 70.3 miles. Pistorius was once the darling of the sports world, and a pioneering voice for disabled athletes, for whom he campaigned to be allowed to compete with able-bodied participants at major sports events. He won six gold medals over three Paralympic Games in Athens, Beijing and London, and competed in able-bodied races at the London 2012 Olympics.

Oscar Pistorius's father reveals he and his son barely speak after ongoing row over killer Olympian's guilt

The father of Oscar Pistorius says he hardly speaks to his son anymore as he doesn't accept that he is a killer. Disgraced Paralympian Pistorius, 38, served nine years behind bars for horrifically shooting his lover Reeva Steenkamp dead at his South African home. But his father Henke Pistorius believes he was 'full of fear' during his trial and accepted his jail sentence. The double amputee, dubbed 'Blade Runner' for the prosthetics he used to compete in, claimed he woke in the early hours thinking a burglar was breaking in unaware his girlfriend Reeva was in the loo. He fired repeated shots through the door killing her instantly with special 'dum dum' bullets but Reeva's family have always claimed it was intentional. The horrific shooting on Valentine's Day 2013 shocked the world and led to him being jailed for culpable homicide which was later upgraded to murder. In an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Henke admitted that his refusal to accept his son's guilt has caused an estrangement between the two. Pistorius was released into a media storm when he was granted parole on January 5, 2024, still insisting he killed law graduate and model Reeva, 29, by mistake. The 38-year-old is now keeping a low profile alongside his rumoured new girlfriend at his uncle's plush multi-million pound home in Pretoria. Speaking on Piers Morgan's YouTube chat show, Henke: 'I am already in trouble with Oscar as I'm sitting here, because I said too much. 'We don't [speak regularly] because he knows how I feel. To him, he's guilty of murder because of the process that he's gone through. 'The facts just do not support a finding of guilty of murder. 'I just think that he will feel later, to walk away after parole as a person guilty of manslaughter versus a person guilty of murder, two vastly big things, and Oscar is not guilty of murder.' In October 2014, Pistorius was initially found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years in prison This conviction was then overturned by South Africa's Supreme Court in 2016 who instead found him guilty of murder and extended his sentence by a further six years. Henke continued: 'Obviously, Oscar was full of fear. Oscar will one day tell his story. 'He is, at the moment, I'm sure, very sad and very sorry about what happened. 'I can't speak for him. He will speak for himself, but what happened is not what came out of the court.' Pistorius is understood to be living in a cottage in the grounds of his multi-millionaire uncle Arnold's secure mansion and is doing volunteer work at a Dutch Reform Church nearby. His sentence ends in 2029 and as on parole is subject to checks from the Department of Corrections at any time of day to check his residence test for alcohol and drugs. He is not allowed out of the immediate area without informing the local police force and is not allowed a firearm or any contact with Ms Steenkamp's mother or sister.
